"You'd want me as a daughter in law?" Seren's eyes got wide, picturing the scene briefly in her mind. She shakes her head, clearing the images out for now but planning an in depth think on the subject later when she was at home.

Mect blinked hard, trying to remember what it was he had just said. He'd really just been prattling on out loud, but... "I definitely wouldn't mind if you were, Seren. 'Course, you'd have to like one of my Mecties first. I wouldn't just expect ya to hook up with one because of me." He grinned at her, with just a hint of a wink.

"Well of course I'd have to LIKE them... I'm not the kind of girl that I'll breed with just anyone. I want to find my one true love and Mate with them and only have children with them, like my mom did." Seren swam down to pick a bright pink flower off the seabed, rolling it between her fins and gazing at it.

"I guess my point was that if you and one of mine decided you'd want to get hitched, you'd already have my blessing." He watched her as she gathered the flower, then added, "But don't you wait on me. You go on and meet guys, get to know them, bring them by for me to meet and beat on a bit..."

Seren giggled at the last comment. "I love my mother but I'd definitely want your approval of anyone I considered. As a friend, your opinion matters alot to me." Seren placed the flower back down amongst the others, turning to look at Mect. "I think that other female beta earlier had the wrong impression. She called me one of your lady friends."

Now it was Mect's turn to blush, or blush as much as he could under that dark blue exterior. Looking rather sheepish, he reached up a fin to fiddle with one of his ears. "Ye-ah, about that..." After all this talk of waiting for mates, it was kinda awkward to admit this to Seren. "Remember how I said I was trying for frys? Raquel was referring to some of the other betas I've been trying with."
Damn, yeah, *that* felt weird saying out loud.

Seren giggled at Mect's akwardness. "I understand that Mated life is not for everyone, I don't think any less of you for it. I just know that Mated life *IS* for me." Seren gives Mect a big hug, "How else am I supposed to have a choice of mates?" Seren smirks and swims just out of Mect's reach.

It took Mect a moment to get that, and when he did, he snorted. "So now you want me to stud out suitors for you? That's kinda harsh, girlie." With a lunge, he attempted to catch her by the tail.

"I never said that. I just made mention of the fact that I'd rather have a Pony as a Mate, and you're about the only Pony I know besides my Aunt and I'm not going to mate with one of her children." Seren darts away from Mect, swimming up behind him and tackling him.

Tackling Mect was a little like tackling a muscled wall, but he caught her with one fin and went rolling through the water anyhow. "Aw, something wrong with your aunt and her kids?" While they were in this position, he took a moment to tickle her under one fin.

Seren giggled at the tickling, trying to get away. "Just the fact that I've known her all my life and her kids are practically related to me, not by blood, but it feels like they are." Seren sighed a little. "It's just hard trying to be patient, that's all."

"Trying hard to be picky is what it sounds like to me," Mect tossed back, laughing. He finally let her get away, then added, "Though I know what you mean. I've constantly got Anwahs trying to sidle up to me, and considering I've known her since I was a fry, it's pretty creepy."

And of course that hug was there for her, one dark blue speckled fin wrapping around her comfortingly. "Of course I don't blame you. As gorgeous as you are, you can afford to be picky."

Seren laughed and pulled away. "Tell me about these lady friends? I want to know what they're like." She blushed slightly at prying, but genuinely wanted to know about them.
