Thank you for the update. As the Second, Kail can decide to run Radryn's actions, or I will do it for him. And thank you for pointing that out Zypher, I have edited the posts to allow for your regeneration. I have an open door policy on mistakes, so feel free to use it.

As you check yourselves and your equipment, you see yet another lone figure approaching your wagon train, this time from the direction you just came...

((Hmm, you can control Radryn right now unless you prefer I do it. My friend should have applied by now and we got her profile all ready so she can join as well.)

After searching the remains Kail’igen stores the action taunt in the wagon to be dispersed as loot at the end of the mission. “Keep your guard up” Kail whispers to Zypher then cautiously approaches the newcomer. It didn’t seem to hmm that anything dangerous should be approaching from that direction but you could never be too careful. “Greetings,” Kail’igen says once he gets closer to the newcomer.

((btw I would like to locate the 2 party MP to my pool if you have no problem with that Kaihatsu. That pretty much means two nukes in a row.))

"Howdy! Do you guys happen to know where the tavern is? I seem to have turned myself in the wrong direction. Bleh! I'll never find it. Oh! Is that you Kail'igen? It seems my terrible sense of direction has run me into you again. What are you up to out here in the wilderness, and what was that smoke I saw from a way's back?" The young mage in training nears the strangers and looks them over. "My name's Lucas Kain and I seem to be lost. If it wouldn't be too much trouble could I hang out with you guys for a bit, until I figure out where I am? And is that burning flesh I smell?"

Kail’igen rolls his eyes and immediately relaxes as he hears the familiar voice of Lucas Kain. Kail had met Luc before when he visited Miyr’s School of Necromancy and Black Magic. It appeared his propensity for getting lost had not changed or his sense of direction improved. “You’d better come with us Luc; the pass ahead is filled with bandits. You would be hard pressed to get through there by yourself, besides we can use your help. Just don’t wander off from the wagons. It’s your job now to help us protect them.” Kail'igen didn't bother to answer the question about the burning flesh. He knew that would explain itself in time.

"Alright!" Luc jumps aboard one of the wagons, and awaits their departure. "Yay! Exitement!"

Kail rolled his eyes once more. Though only a few years Luc’s senior, he lacked all the youthful optimism that boy seemed to exhibit. Kail was serious by nature, and the events in his past had only made it more so. He wondered if the boy’s excitement would wear on his nerves. One thing was fore sure it would be a lot livelier with him on board. Kail signaled to the drivers and Master Morty. “Let’s move out and keep your eyes peeled. I doubt they will be greeting us with words in our next encounter.”

As you begin your preparations, another lone figure approaches from the direction whence you came. This time however, the figure appears to be female...

Kail’igen glances back one more time before they take off to see another figure approach there wagon train. By her outfit and lithe figure he could tell she was female. He gives a sigh and wonders if they would ever get the wagons moving again. “Keep your guard up. We have another newcomer. This one appears to be a woman so be extra careful.” For those who knew about Kail’s past would know that comment had more of a meaning to it then a mere joke. He walks out to greet the girl and warn her of the perils ahead. He bows as he reaches her. “Greetings m’lady, I am Kail’igen. The pass you seek to travel through is infested with Bandits. Might I suggest you travel with us for safety purposes?” Kail could tell by her distinctive colorful garb that she was a healer. He hoped his request had seemed reasonable and not like he was hitting on her. He wondered to himself why he had so readily offered to take her along.

The girl's wide eyes had alighted on Kail'igen for mere moments before they filled with tears. "Oh," she squeaked, and began to cry.

Petra had been trying so hard, really, and when her parents had directed her to the pass, she'd set off at the very break of day, cheerily humming to herself. Well, it was quite past then now, and she'd wandered off the road and gotten so hopelessly lost she'd been on the verge of tears for the last hour, and this kindness from a complete stranger was... well, it was too much. She was shaking from the embarrassment at being seen in such a shambles.

Petra blushed, and wiped at her eyes with a gloved hand. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "You're very kind. I am heading for the p-pass." She stumbled over her words as she swept her hands over her conservative yellow and blue dress and fiddled with her light brown braids. Oh, I look such a mess, she thought.

"I would... I would hate to impose but...Well, I certainly could use a little... a little... help." Her gloves were wet with tears. It was dreadfully embarrassing, but she couldn't seem to stop crying.

Kail’igen was at a loss to what to do. He had hardly spoken two sentences and had already reduced the girl to tears. He had never experienced a girl acting like this before. He found himself trying to comfort her. “There, there, we’ll get you through this. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s our pleasure to help you out. You’re doing fine, we’ll get you through the pass and you can continue on your way. Here, you can sit in the back of the wagon were people can’t see you until you feel better. What do you say?” Kail’igen realized he was babbling which was unlike him. He reached out to put a comforting hand on her shoulder but then decided against it. He just didn’t know how to handle this situation.

Petra was oblivious to Kail'igen's uncertainty in the face of her tears. She was only aware that he looked like such a nice man, and he was offering to help her, and she did need help, so...

"Oh, thank you," she gushed. Her eyes were still leaking tears, spotting her pretty dress. "I just got lost, you know, and--I'm sorry about all this, I'm just--" She broke off and hid her flushed face in her hands. Isn't this just like me, she thought, upset, to go completely to pieces the second I meet anyone. And him so kind, I should be nicer to him...

Petra decided it would be a good thing if she could get out of his sight and calm down, as well as clean herself up a bit. "I would like that," she whispered, her eyes on the ground as her hands nervously clenched each other, "if I could... sit in your wagon. I'm sorry--thank you so much, sir, I really don't know how I could repay you. I didn't mean to inconvenience you." She was trembling like a leaf, and had never felt more foolish.

“ Don’t worry, It is no inconvenience to us. We are both heading in the same direction and the wagons can carry a lot more than they have on them. In fact you might find yourself contributing more than you think with your skills.” Kail then leads her to the back of one of the wagons and helps her climb in where she would be out of sight and she could get a hold of herself. “There, you should be fine in here. By the way, what is your name, m’lady, if you don’t mind me asking?”
PostPosted: Wed Nov 07, 2007 12:54 am

Petra climbed carefully into the wagon with Kail'igen steadying her, then sat demurely. She was feeling a little better now that she was sitting down, but she still purposely avoided the man's eyes. It wasn't easy to talk while she knew he was looking at her.

Wiping her still blushing face with the back of her hand, she said, "Well, my name is Petra. I guess you recognized my dress..." She touched its blue sash gently, starting to calm down. "I'm a priestess in training at the convent in town. I was visiting my parents and the directions they gave me to the pass turned out to be wrong, I guess... But you've been so kind to me, a total stranger..." Tears threatened to well up again, but she fought them. "Thank you so much, and if there's anything I can do, well, please, I'll help any way I can."

At this last she looked up into his face, and flushed as she started crying anew. Petra was thoroughly annoyed at herself by now, but she knew there wasn't much she could do about it once she started crying. "I'm sorry," she choked, "if you could just give me a moment..." Face in tear-stained gloves again, Petra wished the man, nice as he was, would just go away and let her compose herself.

Kail’igen nods as she responds to his question. “Well it is nice to meet you Petra. Again, it is no trouble and if you need anything just speak up.” Wishing to delay no further Kail’igen then briskly walks to the front of the caravan and once again gives the signal to move out. “Alright let’s get going. Kail glances back one more time to make sure there wasn’t anybody else coming up the road behind them and then takes his position at the front of the caravan behind Radryn.
