A wicked grin soon dispensed its release upon his mouth, as he viewed his mate-to-be askance, where she stood off to the side, quietly observing the other Soquili around them. Refocusing on his task, he smiled brightly at the interviewer, though the mischief that lurked behind his knowing eyes couldn't have been more worrisome.
"Well, between you and me, Zaicate could learn something of fashion. She's beautiful already, of course; don't get me wrong! That tempting allure of a goddess couldn't be who she was if she wasn't already beyond gorgeous. Now, as an eagerly handsome creature myself--oh, easy on the compliments, dears, I do realize if my ego gets bigger I'll burst! And no I'm not effeminate!--the best thing for us woud be if Zaicate could learn to bathe herself... well... properly."
Knowing by this time the mare that stood off to the side of him was soon to grow curious and had more than likely heard his last comment, it seemed he expected the sudden heated glare from her, as he smirked delightedly in her direction. Flipping his long, light-brown, silken hair over his shoulders, he paused in his momentary laspe of miniscule victory before he passed another foxy wink at the interviewer.
"You know, were I truly scared of her I would actually be running right now, but since I love her just that much I think I could take some form of punishment... though physical pain is probably unneccesary, since, after all, I only want one physical form of pain."
Were the interviewer to have a shocked expression at his implied comment, the stallion gave no sign of noticing for he had already turned his attention away to grin teasingly at the red-striped mare, who was most definitely spilling an aura of killing intent. Chuckling, for his last comment had been said aloud for the purpose of the mare to hear him, he quickly inserted his final few words, though it seemed he was preparing for a hasty retreat rather than lingering about.
"Considering I probably riled her up by now, I guess I ought to give my one last comment, since I actually never really answered your question. Obvoiusly I love to ramble!" Here, the stallion let out a laugh of amusement, "But I'm sure by now you're as irritated as Zaicate is, so my belief of us being in this interesting contest is because, obviously, we outshine all the others in beauty, intelligence, and wits. I mean, I'm not trying to sound arrogant here, but it's just so obvious. You don't get many Soquili like us, you know."
His final remark seemed to have enraged the irate mare off to the side of him, and with a quick smile of farewell, the stallion made a hasty escape. It seemed his arrogance and his game had gotten to be far too much for the mare, as the two disappear into the distance, the mare screaming threats as she chased the laughing stallion down.

Why had they come to bother her when she had been at her resting place? She had collected herself, set her ears back against her skull and was about to loose a string of obscenities as the intrusion when the most seemingly random question came her way, distracting her.
Why did she think she and Ramoth should have kids?
"Well ain't dat dere a dumb question." Brigitte sneered. "And dat ain't none of your bidness what I be doin with dat stallion." She lifted her head and the shadowy mane ebbed around her.
There was a pregnant pause in which she noticed, to her distaste, that the interviewer had not left.
"But," She continued with an eerie smile, her thoughts scattered by most definitions even when she was at a gravesite, "He da fire to mah shadow, da wings to mah bones. And he talk sense - not like you." Brigitte said emphatically.
"Now you try me patience." Brigitte's eyes seemed to burn just a bit brighter, and the shadows rolled over her, seeming to writhe in dread anticipation.
And with that, the brief "conversation" was over.

That friendship itself comes before their love for each other- they have a level of trust that even though they are not life-mates, they know that the other would never betray them. They DO have children already, but Echo tries very hard, even though she is afflicted, to make sure that each of their children are valued for their own merits- not their gender, strength, or their attitude. She is not necessarily a "mothering" type, as one would typically consider it- she would prefer that the children see her as a friend first, and a mother a close second. Let Khalon worry about all of those bothersome 'details'.

Asherah raised a brow at the question. Honestly. "Do I deserve to win? Well, who really is to say? There are many deserving mares and stallions in the contest, of course, and who is to decide who really is deserving or not? But I am of the sea, as is this lovely creature over here." Aqua eyes shifted toward the kelpie, "Despite the trust that the sea has broken, I am still her daughter. Perhaps I make no sense when I say that it is our job to bring the beauty of the sea into the world. But...That is my belief. The sea is warm and cold, passionate and deadly calm, unpredictable, giving, taking. It is in itself and there needs to be more of it in the world."
A long pause as she draped her tail over her, the constant wetness of the appendage sending droplets of water over her hide, "And perhaps I simply need a purpose now that my previous purpose has been shattered."
