User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Tseng watched her walk up with the same grace and beauty that he had come to expect from her over the years.
The flower that she picked for him was of the purest white he had ever seen.

"One flower it is. Enjoy."

He smiled and watched her as her eyes flashed to the wallet in his hand.

"No, no, this one is on me. I can't allow a friend to pay."

He smiled at her, truly smiled, this time completely unafraid to let it show. He was a friend to her now. A friend. It was like being told that you had just won 10 million gil, right after you had just been promoted to Vice-president.
he needed to leave now, otherwise she may permently melt the ice in his heart, and that would never do.

"A gift"

A "gift"? From Aerith? He felt some warm liquid start to burn his eyes.
No. Not now. You are a Turk. Start acting like one.
He straightened up so that he was almost a full foot taller than her and cleared his throat.
"No, Aerith," he said in a business-like manner, "I pay for everything I receive. here-"
He pulled out some gil from his wallet without even counting it, grabbed the flower, and let the money fall to the floor.
"i think that should be enough. Good bye, Aerith."
And with that he walked quickly from the church, not daring to look back.

User ImageAerith stood quite still, shocked at the way he was treating her. He was so strange sometimes. Such an attitude he had, and a bit of a short temper at times as well. Why couldnt he just let himself be happy? Why didnt he allow her to care?
She sighed and shook her head as the church doors slammed shut, blocking out the warm sunlight that had surrounded the Turk leader just moments ago.
She looked down at the gil scattered all over the ground.

"Well," she said bending over to pick it up, "thats one way to make money I supose..."

She counted the money, realizing at once that it was way too much. No... this was enough to keep them fed for weeks, months even.
A smiled crept onto her still somewhat shocked face.

"Tseng..." she whispered shoving the money in her jacket pocket, "Your alot nicer than you pretend to be. You have got to get yourself a girlfriend."

Somewhat clueless as she may be at times, Aerith was no idiot. She knew Tseng had feelings for someone, although she wasn't entirely sure who. She did have a few ideas though.
With the way he looked at her when he thaught she was not paying attention, and the way he would get so silent when ever she would ask about Zack, it became somewhat obvious.
However there were times when she wondered if she had somehow read the signs wrong. When he would get angry at her for almost no reason, or when he would get frustrated with her when ever she would refuse to go with him- it was those times that she doubted that his feelings were for her.
Perhaps that new Turk girl that he had been telling her about the last time he came to visit her? He had spoken of her quite alot, of course... he also called her clumsy and disorginized.

Aerith shrugged and sat down next to the flower bed. She had given up on gessing and was now on a new train of thought- how was she going to clear the flowerbed of the weeds without harming the delicate lillies?

User Image[Zomg, I’m so sorries this is late >< I’ve been distracted lately]

Tifa made a soft ‘hmm’ sound, idly listening to Jessie as she explained, quickly, the communication device problem and by the end of it, Tifa finished up with the requested martini, turning around to step over to the bar, setting the drink down on it just as Jessie lifted her head.

“I know what you mean…” She felt that there was something wrong too, how could she not? The boys weren’t back yet, meaning there was a big possibility that something could have happened to them but what else could they do but wait? Until they waltzed through that door, that feeling was going to remain and all Tifa could do was suppress it, instead focus on being positive despite how hollow it may be because of her inner thoughts.

“Jessie!” It had started out so well, but within seconds, Jessie was already imagining the worst-case scenario. “Calm down, that’s a big ‘what if.’” Not true. Tifa shook her head as soon as the thought entered her mind and she placed her hands on the edge of the bar, curling her fingers slightly around the edge of it. “They probably eluded them just like you did and they’re on their way back right now.”

She fixed a smile to her lips, mirroring Jessie’s own and she quickly cast a glance over toward the entrance to the basement, quickly weighing her options. “He doesn’t.” She paused, looking back to her friend and her smile weakened. “But, he needs to know what’s going on anyway.”

"....Yeah, you're right...he does....keeping him in the dark is worse than actually being blunt about it," Jessie sighed, slowly shaking her head. The short-haired brunette gave a wry smile back.

"But...I'll tell you now, I'm NOT going to be the one to tell him. When he blows, work your magic Tifa," Jessie chuckled sadly, quickly chugging down her martini. Jessie gasped as the last drops of the alchohol dripped onto her tongue. She slammed the glass down and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Sorry...I'm going to go out looking for them. It's too hard waiting here just thinking of what happens next," Jessie said, giving her friend the 'thumbs up' before getting up....a bit wobbly although.

User Image“Oh no you don’t.” As soon as Jessie was out of her seat, Tifa was already padding out from behind the bar and she stepped in front of the other girl, her arms folded easily over her chest. “I’ll tell Barret, but you are not leaving me to handle his temper tantrum alone.” Her voice is stern but there was a hint of good humor behind it. Tifa noticed the slight wobble to Jessie’s movements but she wasn’t sure if it was because of the quick intake of alcohol or in relation to something else entirely.

She dropped her arms from her chest a moment later as she glanced back over to the entrance down to the basement and she placed one hand on her hip instead, already working in her mind how she was going to go about this. “Besides, you shouldn’t go back out alone. Both of us will talk to Barret and come up with a plan, okay?” She glanced back to her friend and nodded her head, smiling faintly. “Who knows, they might be back before we even need to formulate a plan.”

Zack just laughed, and ruffled the younger blonde's hair.
"Get over it,"
he grinned.
Zack sighed soon after, and yawned really not in the mood for the rather long trek to Midgar. At least it was in view, and there were no signs of anything ShinRa related.
"I guess we'd better start heading to Midgar,"
he announced, as he began walking deeper into the woods.

Cloud scowled. He'd never really liked Zack ruffling his hair, but he got used to it. But the other times there hadn't been dirt to fall into his eyes.

Cloud spent a little too much time surveying Midgar, and Zack got ahead of him on the path. "HEY! Zack, wait!" Cloud called, running to catch up.

"Well, stop dilly dallying and let's mosey!"
Zack teased, not waiting for the other. However, the blonde finally caught up and he smiled.

(WOW. Just wow.)

Cloud bent double next to Zack and coughed. He was out of breath, and Zack had made him laugh.

"You said (cough) mosey!" he hacked.

User ImageJessie sighed in defeat.

"Okay Tifa, you win...." Jessie murmured, still a bit shaky from the instant consumption of alcohol. She glanced over at the pinball machine with a scrunched up expression. She knew that she was going to regret this. A sigh once again escaped from her lips. Slowly she trudged towards the pinball machine and let her hand trace the lever.

"Well, might as well get it over with! Biggs and Wedge are waiting for us!" she exclaimed optimistically and motioned Tifa over.

"Time to go!"

User ImageTifa grinned proudly, looking the tiniest bit victorious at having Jessie relent so quickly and she would have laughed if it were any other occasion. Instead, she simply kept on grinning and nodded her head, falling into step behind the other girl to head over to the pinball machine.

“Okay, I’m ready, I think.” She leaned her weight back against the pinball machine, her back resting against it as she waited for Jessie to pull the lever. “Remember though, I’ll tell him but you have to help me calm him down.”

User Image Jessie smiled weakly at the martial artist and began to fidget.

"Oh alright...." she gulped loudly out of apprehension. Barret just had to be the one with the shortest temper... Jessie breathed steadily, her heart accelerating bit by bit as she pulled the lever of the machine. Slowly the hinges creaked and they began to descend into the basement. Whatever happens...I MUST protect my computer! Jessie clenched her fist dramatically, forgetting that Tifa was right next to her, not realizing that she seemed odd. Slowly the room came into view until the machine came to a halt. Jessie gave a little squeak of surprise when she noticed how near Barret was to the pulley.

She gulped down a large portion of her saliva out of fear. With a faked smile, Jessie inched towards her computer until it was an arm's reach. Okay, I'm ready!

"Yeah? So what?"
Zack grinned, pushing Cloud playfully in the shoulder.
"You're so slow,"
he fake complained, again quickening his pace as the over-glorified Midgar came into clear view. The outside of it was surrounded by a tall, assumed more than bullet-proof glass wall, with a large iron door leading to the inside of the city. Zack walked closer to it, putting putting both of his hands on the glass and trying to peer inside. He knocked on it.
"Isn't this welcoming?"
He said sarcastically, while at the same time turning to face Cloud who was indeed, behind him.

Cloud wobbled and nearly fell over when Zack pushed him. It wasn't that Zack was that much stronger, (not anymore at least) just that Cloud was out of breath and bent over.
Cloud hadn't seen the city of Midgar in some time, and had actually nearly forgotten how it looked. Just the sight of it was depressing, making him want to curl in a ball under a blanket behind a locked door.
"Yeah, really homey. Love the welcome mat," Cloud said, pointing to one of the many security signs. "How do we get in without ShinRa knowing?"

User ImageTifa smiled to herself, dipping her head downward so Jessie wouldn’t see that she was finding amusement out of this but as soon as the lever was pulled, causing the lift to start lowering into the basement, she remembered just what was in store for them. Just like that, Jessie’s nervousness didn’t seem that humorous anymore.

It didn’t take long to spot Barret, set up over there in his seat, looking over the schematics of the Mako Reactor while the sound of the television played in the background. Checking up on Jessie out of the corner of her eye, Tifa raised an eyebrow as her friend cautiously inched across the room and after taking a deep breath, she forced her own legs to start moving.

“Hey Barret.” She took a few steps away from the lift, pausing in the middle of the room and she smiled faintly, just enough to mask her face, putting on a show that everything was fine and they weren’t missing two of their team. “Guess who finally showed up?” She knew it was only a matter of time—maybe five or six seconds—until Barret asked where the other two were, but she’d wait until he asked. She’d stall to obtain any bit of time before she was forced to drop the news.
