Merethist cuddled closer to Charming, almost mewling in protest when his Charming-pillow moved to get changed. He flopped over onto the ground and stared at the fire for a few moments, before a knock on the door roused him. He sat up and got up to answer the door, accepting the tray of sweets from him before shutting and locking the door again.
Merethist carefully sat down, placing the tray infront of him. He picked up a marshmallow skewer and nibbled on one, before holding it close to the fire. He silently waited for Charming, plopping a couple of marshmallows into their drinks. He leaned against Charming when he felt an arm snake around his waist and he snuggled close. Taking the skewer away from the fire to eat the melting, white marshmallows as he nudged the tray closer to charming, licking his lips of any traces of the sugary treat.

Charming glanced at the tray as Merethist nudged it closer, relaxing with the cherry blossom phantom in front of the fire. He picked up one of the hot cocoas - the one he assumed was his - and sipped it slowly, watching the marshmallow in it disintegrate and leave a small white foam floating on the surface. This place, here, with Merethist, was a perfect situation.
Prince Charming was surprised that the thought crossed his mind. He'd never felt as if he were in the perfect situation with someone else before - okay, so, perhaps he had, but that had been sarcasm. It was strange, to be here, and think of it as perfect.

Merethist finished the marshmallows, licking some of the melting marshmallows off of his fingers as he watched Charming. He smiled, picking his own cocoa up and sipping it happily, it was nice just snuggling up quietly like this and Merethist was happy. Though Merethist would have felt the situation perfect if Charming told him how he felt about him, Merethist knew he was falling for the Human Prince and wondered constantly if it was one-sided.
"Charming..." Merethist said quietly, lowering the mug of cocoa back to the tray. He looked at Charming, a somewhat serious look on his face. He couldn't believe he was thinking of saying it and he shook his head, sighing inside. "..uhm..don't worry about it..." he answered after a long pause, losing his nerve.

Charming looked to Merethist as he spoke, at first blinking in surprise at the serious look and then shrugging his shoulders lightly at the basic 'never mind'. Whatever Merethist had been going to say, he hadn't, and Charming would overlook all of it now. Words unsaid were nothing at all - and would remain that way, he supposed.
He leaned closer to Merethist, wonderfully warm and enjoying himself. Enjoying himself with someone he... cared about. Yes - he at least awknowledged that he cared about Merethist by now. He put down his hot cocoa quickly before angling his face and pressing his lips firmly to Merethist's. Having Merethist here was really rather perfect, he reflected once again.

Merethist stared down at the Cocoa mug on the floor for a little while afterwards, a blush of awkward embarrassment spreading across his pale blue cheeks. He couldn't believe he wanted to tell Charming he liked him, and then chickened out at the last minute!! Merethist picked a marshmallow off a skewer and popped it into his mouth, chewing it thoughtfully before swallowing the chewy treat.
Merethist only then became aware of Charming's body nearer his, his body heat washing over Merethist like a wave from the sea. He looked up at Charming, wondering what the Prince was thinking by now and he cupped his cheeks, smiling at him. He was totally taken aback by the kiss, even after all these days, he still wasn't quite used to Charming's sudden kisses. The kiss tasted like chocolate and sugar, Merethist made a happy sound, chocolate kisses were his idea of perfect!! He let his hands curl a little more around Charming's face, kissing him back.

It was so warm here. Charming couldn't quite recall the last time he'd felt so contentedly warm in a kiss. They were simply there. There. That was the wonder of it all. It was real, not fake. No - not at all. Prince Charming couldn't quite recall the last time he'd felt something real that hadn't been the usual disapointment. Not that he was thinking, or trying to think through any of this.
He pulled away just slightly, pulling Merethist closer to him. For once he was just there. Just a person - a person with no title, no niche. Only a person with another person. Someone who, amazingly enough, seemed to have someone else. Someone who, if only for just a moment, could consider that enough. Forgetting necessity, forgetting thought, forgetting vitalities. The meaning of things was slowly beginning to unravel.

Merethist snuggled happily in Prince Charming's arms after he was pulled close. Feeling very much at peace, he cuddled closer to Charming, his eyes sleepily dropping closed as his fingers gently brushing through the Prince's blonde hair. Merethist liked Charming's hair, it was soft and a pretty colour. He nuzzled his face against Charming's neck, tucking his head under the Prince's chin sleepily.
"nice~" he murmured, now dry and content to just doze in Charming's arms. He didn't feel a need to try and repeat his failed confession, he just felt a warming feeling around them and he knew suddenly that words weren't needed at this moment.

Two or three days later.A knock on the door. Charming awoke, gazing at the wooden door bleary-eyed. Another knock. He got up and shuffled forward in his nightshirt. He cracked the door so that only his face was visible - he didn't want whoever this was seeing him sleeping in and in his nightshirt. Though, they'd probably already know from his mussed demeanor. "Yes? What is it?" He asked the goblin outside blearily.
"Your parents are here and would like to meet you out in the gardens, Prince Charming!" The goblin replied obediantly before turning on his heel to deliver some other message. His... parents? Prince Charming closed the door and speedily got dressed, almost forgetting to tie his long blonde hair back with a ribbon as he exited his room. What exactly were his parents doing here?
Walking briskly, skipping stairs, flying out the door and making his way toward the garden. There they stood. His mother and his father, a king and a queen. It had been a little while, too, Charming reflected as he approached them.
His mother turned to see her son, gave a little, over-joyed gasp and then managed some awkward running-thing over to her son, crushing him into her rather large bosom. "OH IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!" She took out a handkerchief and dabbed at forming tears, letting Charming go.
Charming looked at his parents as he was released from his mother's grasp. "You too..." He replied, barring his teeth in what he hoped would be an acceptable smile. His father actually looked a tad sorry for him right now for some reason. And Charming wasn't completely dumb. His parents had a reason for coming. They'd never visited out of the blue before. When they did, it was usually for things that controlled his life. Like that time they'd come and told him that they wanted him to marry into the dragon kingdom. They'd been serious, too. That had never happened.
"AND WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'RE FINALLY GETTING MARRIED!" His mother sobbed into her handkerchief.
"Married?"

Merethist was always up early, he'd had his breakfast with Calentze and Tamson as usual and then retreated to the library to grab some books to amuse himself with. He was happy and Calentze had commented that Merethist was almost 'glowing with happiness', Merethist hadn't really known what to say then, but assured Calentze he wasn't carrying a flashlight around. Calentze had given him a blank look.
Merethist had picked up two or three books with pretty stories and art in them;he wasn't a bookworm. He was just making his way down the hall when Charming rushed past him. Merethist's books slipped out of his hold and clattered to the ground. "Charming..?!" he asked, quickly picking the books up and running carefully after him.
Merethist kept his distance when he saw Charming approach and royal-looking couple and he could hear what they said. Charming's parents, Merethist swallowed a nervous lump and watched, half concealed by a large tree. He listened intently, until he heard the woman say Charming was to get married.
His eyes widened and the books slipped from his hold, thumping noisily against the exposed roots of the tree. Charming couldn't, no Charming couldn't get married!! Merethist felt his insides grow cold and his heart give a painful lurch as he stared at the group. This wasn't happening, he was meant for Charming!! Charming was the one he was in love with!! Hot tears slipped from his eyes and he rubbed them away furiously, hurriedly running up the path into the orchid of the Labyrinth, walking along to try and locate the water gardens he had heard about. Maybe then he could cry in peace. For he was crying, silently sobbing about the lose he was going to suffer.

"YES~ OH MY LITTLE PUMPIE-KINS~ IT'S GOING TO BE WONDERFUL~"
For a split second, Charming wondered why the hell his mother always talked in caps. A split-second later he let it go. What was going on? "Mummy!" He cried in protest. Wait. Wait. He had to calm down. This could be just like the time they'd come after one of his fans had informed them that she was engaged to him - while she hadn't been! Knowing his parents this could be the same case.
"Oh, my! Did you just see that little girl run away, Charming?" His mother was preoccupied with someone Charming hadn't seen for a moment. He noted his father was still in the background. It was really very obvious who ran his home kingdom. "Oh, yes! Anyhow, we've arranged a marriage for you and this one princess~" She sang.
No longer talking in hysterical caps. "WHAT?" He demanded. What about... Merethist? He wasn't sure why the name popped in his head since he wasn't even sure himself about his relationship with the cherry blossom phantom but...
"Oh, yes! It's going to be a grand affair!" She replied. "Don't you worry now - just come to dinner tonight! We've invited her, too, so you can meet your new fiance!"
Walking away had never been so easy. Listening to his mother's cry of 'see you there!!' he continued walking, unconciously in the same direction as Merethist had ran. Into the orchards.

Merethist had never felt so awful in his life, he felt terribly bad, so bad he thought he might die! He had walked through the small orchid and out the other side, stumbling across the Castle's water gardens. He hadn't even bothered to take in the grandieur of the fountains and ponds dotted around him in patterns, he hadn't even bothered to take in any of the pretty flowers and wildlife roaming around.
Merethist had simply sat on the floor next to a fountain, laying his arms on the rim of it and buried his head in them, trying to keep his sobs quieted so he wouldn't disturb anyone. Charming was going to marry and go away, Merethist would be stuck here on his own. He had felt so happy with Charming and he hated his parents, hated them!! They were taking him away! what could he do??

Charming himself walked briskly through the orchard, really feeling thoroughly upset. His parents had done many things to him in the past, but they'd never tried arranged marriage! Arranged marriage was evil! Wrong! Loveless! Though Charming considered himself to be a loveless person. He'd never admitted to anyone that wasn't his mother that he loved them.
Never. Even though it was true he might have been in love once or twice in his life thus far. As he exited the orchard and looked up to the water gardens Merethist crossed not only his mind, but his line of vision as well. Merethist was on the ground next to a fountain and Charming believed he was sobbing. Stray thoughts fitted together - had Merethist been the 'girl' that had run away? This was near enough and... Charming wasn't sure. He slowly approached Merethist as if he were some type of wild and fuzzy animal that was sure to run away at just the wrong move.

Merethist couldn't hear anything over the rush of water the fountain had, water gushing from a large open clamshell in a Mermaid's statue's arms. He didn't care if someone came and dragged him away right now, he just wanted to cry and let everything out. He wasn't going to go to Charming again, sepearation and avoidance would make it easier. Maybe he'd go and visit Macy?? He wasn't sure really.
Merethist distantly heard the sound of footsteps apporaching him and he sat up, turning his hurt and tear-stricken gaze up to whoever had approached him. He stared, in surprise before he shook his head and buried his head back in his arms, trying to stave off a fresh bout of sobs. He loved Charming, he could admit that and he felt himself a fool to have been thinking Charming felt the same. He'd never once uttered any words of love, not even during....that.

Charming watched Merethist as he looked up, shook his head, and then buried it back in his arms, visibly crying. Charming approached him slowly. So, perhaps he was assuming, but what he was assuming was pretty damned likely. He walked closer, lowering himself to a squat next to Merethist before sitting down on the ground himself. He took Merethist's arms slowly away, in his grip before taking his hand, maybe somewhat forcefully raising Merethist's chin up, and kissing him. Did or didn't Merethist understand the situation in full?
Charming's mother had abandoned her husband to follow her son, she'd forgotten to tell him about her new cat! He was such a lovely little animal, too! Long white hair and green eyes~ Charming just had to know about it! She tromped through the orchard with a bright smile, and as she cleared it to the water gardens where her son was, the smile was cut and turned into a frown. That was the young lady from earlier who had run away! And now Charming was - what?! - having a make-out session with her on the ground?! He was cheating on his fiance!! Cheating on someone he'd never met! How could he!

Merethist kept crying, and tried to shift away from him, he needed to keep away from him. He tried to wiggle away from Charming and stared at him when he felt the hold on his chin, only to simply melt when the kiss was planted on his lips.
This was wrong now, Merethist couldn't love Charming if he was going to be married. But he couldn't help it, he wrapped his arms around Charming as he melted into the familiar feeling of the kiss, disregarding everything else. He didn't notice Charming's mother watching them and he didn't particulary care if someone did catch them, he needed to be reassured, so he could stop crying.
