perhaps he could be a guitar collector I got a few but they are all bargain cheap got some crazy black flying V for £70 but it sux sad doesn;t stay in tune but got some bass guitar just to muck about with for about 50 and it is awesome great fun smile love playing muse baselines on it smile

A lot of people at my school do that. It makes them "cool". My friend, who I asked how many songs he can play on his guitar who's been "playing" for a year about, guessing I have no idea, as for playing for......... Ummmm... 4 Months I can play like 10 more songs then him! I just dont get that, I can shred, (sorta, more of a blues thing usually) and he can barely do anything! I just hate it soooo much! stressed stressed stressed

I just hate it soooo much! stressed stressed stressed Ask yourself. "Why do I care?" Does it really matter to you that they're cool because they bring a guitar to school? Does it devalue what you can do with a guitar? Couldn't you bring your guitar to school and do exactly the same thing? Trust me if you're a cool enough guy, then people will remember you. But if you bring a guitar to school, and rely on that to make you cool, then ten years from now when people look back at old pictures, and they see you they'll more then likely say "Hey there's that kid that always brought his guitar to school. He was cool." rather then "Hey, there's aznbassist710. That's my ni**a right thur" I didn't used to get it either. I've been noticing more and more though how many people know who I am, but I really have no recollection of ever even seeing them. It's who you are, not what you do.

I just hate it soooo much! stressed stressed stressed shred blues thing ? let me tell you as story son. the other day i had a friend over to play guitar WITH (notice the emphasis on with). we get down there and set up, and he rattles off quite a few songs. i can count the number of songs i can play all the way through on my thumbs. so im just makin stuff up and he's playing all these different songs. it was like he was trying to show me everything thing he could do with a guitar. after an hour or so, i ask him can we actually play together, and he said sure. i asked him if he knew any chord progressions, and he said he barely knows how to play chords. i asked him if i could play a progression and he solo's and she said he didnt know how. found out he didnt know scales. all he had was a bunch of songs he didnt understand. he was a showman more than a guitar player imo. so maybe you know more songs, it might not mean he's a bad player. i'ce come up with more songs, riffs, and licks than the ammount i've tried to learn. it aint always a big deal. sorry, i think i started rambling. and based on your description, i dont actually think the guy is god, but im just giving you a heads up good guitarist may not know how to play a lot of songs.
