MiasmaMoon Hiya guys. I have a little problem. You see, I'm Cantonese myself. However, I speak Mandarin more. Now, when I speak Mandarin, it's not so bad-sounding (except that my mom sometimes can't understand me at all). Now, there's only one little problem I have to ask:
Whenever I sing in Mandarin Chinese, my mom yells, "Stop singing! I can't understand a word you're saying!" It really confuses me because I thought my accent marks weren't that bad.
Okay guys... Here's the question:
How do you sing in Mandarin Chinese, yet keep the accent?! Just sing it the way you speak it.. :/ There's nothing else you really can do to change your accent unless you listen to more Mandarin speaking around you .

Variate your pitch to make it sound pretty normally by copying the pitch from the actualy thing...
if nobody understands you get your tongue movements right and make sure you making each word too long or too short!.

Try to record yourself. razz Maybe you're not singing each word seperately? Some people I know and myself included, tend to slur the words together because we speak more of other languages.
