My band dresses up on a game near halloween...
Last year It wasn't me, but my boyfriend who did it.
They were marching and the ground was soaked. my responsibility was to run a certain flag without my instrument on, of course i slipped.xD but that's not it, my bf was wearing a inflatable ostrich suit, and he slipped and fell with his baritone..
This year we were beginning our show, which was also on a halloween game.. i was watching a helper of the band set the flags out, it looked like he wasn't going to get them out so soon and i was in my own little world, zoned out! We had to start marching forward at a certain point, because I play the tuba and there were 2 tubas we had to go first, Me, like a dunce just stood there. I can't believe i had to be so stupid. lol Halloween games are unlucky for my band.

we hadn't really worked on our march off thingy much for one show. we normally turn back around for the dancer people girls. BUT they weren't performing. llol.
so at the end. we all stoped...and then the drummers started tapping on the drum for us to march off...half the band turned around and started marching off, and half the band went forwards and marched off...then we all stoped like wtf? O.o horrible. and yet, i was one of the ones to go backwards
haha razz

This year in the last 5 sets of our show, we did a starburst,I had to move between a melophone and a trumpet. Well the trumpet player moved behind me while I was moving forward and he knocked my plume side ways. On a normal practice day there was only about 5 inches from the top of my head and his trumpet, and the worst is that this happened at Grand Nationals and it showed up on the video.

Two years ago, my school was doing "Chicago". We had our pit in the center of the field, like a stage band-esque thing. I edned up feeling sick, and the director said if I felt really bad, to march over to the pit and finish the show there (I am the only person who plays the quints... or Marching Toms). Well, I'm not one to stop marching, so in my stubborness I marched through the show. Then, I had a freshman march into me when I was going backwards, and THEN... when I was going to the back of the field with the rest of the Drumline, we had back drops which were "jail cells " and the person who positioned the one I was to stand behind moved it over too far, and I marched right into it.... by that time I was feeling quite horrible. When I got off the field, I gave my drums to the Percussion instructor and collapsed on the grass, my then girlfriend worried as any girl would be. I had a high fever of nigh unto 100... and the ice helped me feel better on the way home... It sucked, but I continue on, through sickness and injury. It's just how I feel about Marching Band, it should stop for nothing!

Alright. i wouldn't say that this was the worst thing that ever happened. but its one of the worst. This year apparently, mother nature decided to have lots of rain before ANY of our competitions. So we always compete on a muddy field. Alright, so when we decided to put in visual effects in (kneeling, running, jazz walk etc.) it just so happened that, the field was super muddy this time. It had just finished raining 4 hours ago.
By the end of our whole show, our WHOLE band were like covered in mud pretty much. It was soo gross. We even had like mold on our uniform when we used it again, for a football game. soo gross.

I'd have to say that one of the worst things to happen to me during a show happened my freshman year:
It was the day before Halloween and our director thought it'd be a fun idea to buy masks to wearing during our last show of the season. He realized soon after that they basically blocked ALL periferial (sp) vision that we had...
He did it on purpose just to see what the show would look like.
Let's just say that he laughed in the stands for about 5 minutes before he lets us on 3rd quarter break...

hmm... worst thing that happened in one of my band's shows is one person in my squad started backing too early, smashing my mouthpeice (flugabone/ baritone) into my mouth, sending me back, knocking the person behind me's bell into my head, and creating a 5 squad pile up. the director was MAD. looks funny on tape, tho ^_^

We were marching in a very long hilly St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2007 and it was my friend's first time in marching band and her pants fell down she was doing auxillary percussion so she was able to hold up one side and the other percussionists took turns holding up the other side.
Everyone was really happy for our last home game and it was just a little muddy and slippery. My drum major trying to be cool was running around the field like an idiot and he slipped. When he caught himself he had mud all over his butt and we couldn't stop laughing which caused squeaking and strange noises from my piccolo and my fellow flutes.

Oh, another thing that rather sucked while I was on the field....I was hit in the back of the head by a rifle on our first competition of the season my freshman year...while playing...thankfully, I didn't loose any teeth... gonk

Mine wasn't embarrasing at all it sorta was a murderer to the band.
Just this past season we went to state. We prayed for a superiour and our hopes were terrific the band was really having fun. We all performed and we waited for the other bands to finish.
Later when the awards were given out we all were silent and holding our breaths. And I could remember the announcer's words;
"Campbell County recieves....a Superiour 1 rating!"
We were the loudest cheering, our band was hugging each other and crying.
An hour later we were outside eating pizza, the band did the no pants dance which I was embarrased seeing my band memebers out there running through the parking lot without pants and most people from the other bands ran with them.
Then out in the distance we saw our band director walking with some guy. Our band started cheering her name and clapping. When she got closer we could see her crying. The announcer man next to her made an announcement to the band.
"You all did a terrific show tonight, but we messed up on the awards. You and Chyanne Central have the same initials and they were the ones who acctually recieved the superiour award you got an Excellent. I'm sorry"
Campbell County/ Chyanne Central....CCHS/CCHS
The band was crying the seniors were heartbroke as so was the band.
The 8 hour bus ride home was completly silent.
When we arrived into town, it was 2 in the moring and the buses started flashing their lights all the way to the high school parking lot honking their horns as we cheered our director's name.

nother thing that happened (after) a game was that i fell off the equiptment truch while unloading a couple of snare cased... jumped down off the lift with two cases in my hande... did a face plant... it was hilarious ^_^. doesn't help to that i'm the only girl on the equiptment crew, and that all the others were telling me that i shold "take it easy". heh. as if. stupid boys >.>

Last Year during my freshman during a competition I was playing the vibes during the second movement.
I was playing and then I pushed the pedal down and my foot slipped off and under the pedal. So when I lifted up the my foot to push down the pedal again, since my foot was under it, it pushed up the pedal and the rod leading up to the hook came off and you couldn't hear any notes at all since the pedal helps with the sound(for those who didn't know)
Since we had 3 movements right after the second movement everyone after me didn't get any sound out of the vibe and so I basically messed everyone up for those who played that vibe, lol
