((That's fine.))

Dunya having ordered, Yuki quickly thought about what he would like. "A bowl of stew, some bread, and a small mug of mead sound good." the waitress walked away from them, taking orders from others and delivering food busily. The small eatery began to get a little more crowded, but it was still only just above half-capacity.

((sounds good 3nodding ))

Dunya looked around for a bit and made it a point eat at a variety of places from now on. The Droselle Inn was nice, but so was this place and the smaller somewhat more intimate setting was greatly appreciated. This thought caused her to look up and she blushed feeling awkward again. "So..." she said trying simultaneously to look him in the eye and not look at him. Finally she settled on a spot precisely two inches above and to the right of his right ear. "What's it like in Izulde?" she said finally.

Both sisters busted through the kitchen door to find their parents just finished in setting up the table for dinner. Avelaine went up to call the guests down while Claire helped to bring out the food. Mrs. Droselle had cooked up something special tonight to celebrate Claire being back home, and the fact that both their daughters were going to be in the tournament. Claire took a sniff of the scent and immediately recognized her’s and Avelaine’s favorite dish: Curry. Mrs. Droselle then proceeded to take out the spiced from the cupboard because she always makes the curry mild, and Avelaine prefers it spicy.

Seating at the head of the table, Mr. Droselle invited all the guests to join in the dinner celebration, raising a toast first as to celebrate his daughters’ invitation to the tournament, and everyone else at the table who was to compete as well, seeing as their Inn was the gathering place for these contestants for this year. They were already paid in advance for the room and board of all the contestants by the Royal Treasury to accomodate them during their stay.

Avelaine took a seat to the left-hand side of her father, and Claire took a seat right next to her. They happily accepted the food and began to eat heartily, with much gusto, due to their hunger accumulated from the earlier sparring match.

The long silenced inbetween snippets of conversation were odd for Yuki as well. At Dunya's query, Yuki replied, "It was molded after this city, so it is similar in many respects. It isn't as well upkept, though. Nearly everybody there is obsessed with armored melee combat." After that there was a short section of silence, followed by Yuki's return question, "And how is Payon?" Thinking Dunya has been staring directly at him the whole time, Yuki shifted in his seat, and looked through her by forcing his eyes to focus on objects behind her.

Dunya nodded politely as she listened to Yuki. A small smile spread across her face as she realized that he was also feeling a bit awkward, and was trying to look at her without looking at her. "Payon is...well, it's much smaller than here for one." she said simply, adjusting her field of vision so it was at least on his face if not his icy blue eyes. "Things don't move quite as fast as here either, people seem more relaxed I guess, not so rushed to get places." she explained. "The scale is different as well, the buildings are smaller, horses are smaller, it's quieter..." she trailed off. "But I like it here too, there's a simultaneous anonymity and friendliness that's here that I haven't found elsewhere." she smiled somewhat nervously again.

The waitress appeared with their drinks and set them on the table with a thump that caused them to slosh just a bit, spilling the foaming strawberry juice and mead on the scratched wooden table. "Food'll be out in a bit." she said in her deep hardened over voice and disappeared again. Dunya wiped the table with the hem of her skirt distractedly. She stared at the table for a minute reading some of the names and phrases carved into the table. She blushed as she realized that while the restaurant was mellow during the day, it's later inhabitants must at least have an interesting vocabulary. Her eyes snapped up and found Yuki's for a split second before she stared at her cordial, trying to think of something to say.

((Sorry for the delay in response- school ate me. And yes, the time jump is fine. ^^ ))

"Do you not work at the bar Exodus? I swear that's where I saw you..." Rosiya asked her.

"What? Oh, well, I've worked there, yes," answered Ninna, taken by surprise that someone would recognize lil' ol' her. "In fact, I believe I'm working there tonight as well, but it's only an odd job." She sounded a little dismissive.

Any further attempt of Ninna's to create conversation was ended by Rosiya's departure. Ninna was sad to see her go; she was looking forward to a nice lunch with someone. But she was sure she'd see Rosiya around again, especially if she was somehow injured...

Ninna then changed routes, heading back to her own workplace for a lunch closer to home. The rest of the afternoon was spent working more at the Inn, and preparing for her evening gig.

((Sorry for my delay in posting. I was waiting for the time-skip to post again.))

"The business of the city is exciting." Yuki replied. His mead having been delivered, he found it had been watered down. Its usual foamy head and rich amber color were both less than expected. Noticing that both he and Dunya had both run out of things to say again, he lifted his glass after her eyes locked his for a moment. The mead still tasted great, though less so. Its sweet aroma wafted up to his nostrils, and its honey flavor graced his tongue on the way down.

The strawberry cordial turned out to be fizzy with crushed strawberries floating on the top. Dunya took a sip and was both pleased and surprised by its flavor. She was glad that she could hardly taste the alcohol. She glanced over at Colin who rolled his eyes at her clearly somewhat embarrassed by her shyness. He got to his feet and stretched before lumbering outside to the water trough. Finally deciding that she should try once more to make conversation she looked up at Yuki, finally meeting his eyes fully and asked politely, "Do you have any family in Izulde?

Rosiya had lived on the second floor of the clinic, consisting of one room with kitchen and a bathroom, thanks to the doctor. Otherwise, she could have to pay for a room in the inn from her rat's brain's worth of salary. When she had first arrived in Prontera, the doctor had found her living on the clinic roof when small crums of food fell past his window; Rosiya was never too good with money, and she never really bothered to take care of herself.

When the cilnic closed for its regular hours, rosiya let out a sigh as she opened the cabinet door and found absolutely nothing. Silently tossing her leather bag around her shoulder, Rosiya headed outside to the lively crowd of the town square, though it was dinner time. Passing the nicer houses, Rosiya found herself a small restaurant and a bar in more shady area. The people were more rowdy, but she enjoyed the lively atmosphere about the place, everyone excited for the tournament. There, she spent most of the time eating and listening to the people talk of their lives and other interesting tales that they are willing to share. Making friends was not hard for Rosiya, though she stuck out like a soar thumb in the place with her white monk's robe, because the way she carried herself was more secular and easy to approach than one might expect. At some point of her stay there, dancers and musicians began to drift in, providing more amusement.

Ninna finished her afternoon bookkeeping. There certainly was a lot of it to do; travelers to town who could not, for one reason or another, stay at the Droselle Inn came to theirs, and there were many travelers. Some of Ninna wished the event would be over so she would have less work to do!

She went upstairs to her room and got ready for her evening gig at the Exodus. Her outfit generally looked the same- it just became more colorful and was covered in sparkly things. Ninna hated to dress... skimpily, even when performing.

Soon she was at the bar, and it was time for her to perform. The refulars there knew her, and applauded the loudest of those there. Then it was time to dance.

An hour later, she was done with her singing and dancing set. It went quite well; she had gotten quite a lot of tip money this time. She stayed there, having a drink or two that some patron or another wanted to buy her, and talked with them while another dancing act was on stage (this one, for some reason, not able to attact the attention of the bar like Ninna did, even when the new act was practically wearing a bikini. She did not, however, know how to dance, a generally key skill needed to be known by a dancer).

After a well-greeted meal, both sisters experienced what they liked to call a "food coma", the period after eating in which they felt like doing nothing at all for a short while. They guessed it was a family thing, since Mr. Droselle tended to laugh and tell stories and jokes without actually getting up, and Mrs. Droselle just sat there, smiled and listened, trying suppress tiny burps that came out occasionally. Both sisters, too, experienced 'food coma' in different ways: Avelaine usually almost drifted off to sleep with her head on the table, and Claire usually just sat there and closed her eyes in a meditative manner.

And as if in a synchronized move, all four family members stood up at the same time and began clearing the table. Avelaine took the guests' plates and Claire took the left over food in the serving bowls to be given to the poor families in the neighborhood. Mrs. Droselle took the curry pot and set it back on top the stove, who knows whether they'll get hungry new guests in the middle of the night. They were never stingy with donating food, as the family considers it a crime to waste it anyway. Their rule was: "If no one else is going to use/eat it, then someone else somewhere will."

Avelaine and Claire both got ready for bed, as they planned to do more training and sparring tomorrow.

"Not a bad haul," Nin thought as she walked back to the inn. She had made a tidy profit that evening, and the extra coins would be welcome, especially as she wanted to buy some better arrows, for the day of the competition. While she obviously wouldn't be able to stay competitive with the archers, she would like to get them a run for their money. And some nicer arrows than the ones she had might give her an edge.

"Though really it's skill that will pull a person through," she thought ruefully, sliding through the inn door and going up to her room.

---

The next morning she awoke later than she had hoped. She had wanted to finish the bookkeeping early in order to practice more.

"Ah well, I did stay up late last night, and sleep is always helpful" Ninna thought as she got dressed for the day. It was back to her usually loose fitting tans and brown, the dancing costume tucked away peacefully in her closet. She opened her door, and headed downstairs, ready to start accounting.

They continued in their sparse conversation and parted ways soon after. Yuki spent supper at the Droselle, retiring soon after dinner. Though he still had energy, for his traning that day was hardly taxing, he elected to sleep early so as to rise early.

The next morning, a shaft of light beamed through his window onto his equipment leaning against the wall. The light gleamed off, into Yuki's closed eyes. Waking suddenly, he sat up and strecthed. Well, so much for waking early. The trip last mroning must have taken more out of me than I assumed... Given the sun, I'd say it's almost 10. Rising from his bed, he quickly threw on enough clothing. Exiting his room, he could see that activity downstairs had lulled after breakast, which he had missed. He strode to the end of the hall opposite of the staircase. A lone door was on that wall, and it lead to a rudimentary bathing facility. Yuki entered to wash up before heading out.

Dunya and Colin had left the restaurant and returned to the stables by way of the smithy. At the smithy, Dunya had quickly sharpened the less then useful arrows she'd found in her quiver. Once back at the stables, Colin had disappeared on some business of his own, most likely with the mice or more formidable rats. Dunya fed and watered the horses, before returning to her small stall at the end of the stables.

As she pushed the tapestry aside, Dunya realized just how tired she was and decided to go straight to bed. Turning back around, she made sure that the latch on her door was open so that Colin could come and go as he pleased. She blew out the candle and watched the smoke drift away as her eyes grew accustomed to the dark, as she settled between her heavy blanket and down palette.

She awoke the next day with Colin's large form curled between her and the wall. It was then that she realized that she was not actually in bed, but on the beaten down dirt floor of the stable. Dunya glared at Colin and stood up, noting the stiffness in her back. This meant that it must've been cold in the night and she'd been sleeping there awhile, nudged over by the huge canine she shared quarters with. No breakfast for you. She thought somewhat grumpily glaring at the invader.

It was still fairly early, so yawning and stretching, she quietly opened the door that led into the main hall of the stables. Moving barefoot down the clean sawdust path, she scooped an apple from a bucket, before climbing up onto the edge of one of the stalls. she sat with her legs dangling into the stall, with one hand to balance as she munched her apple thoughtfully. The stall occupant, a large roan mare, stood beside her so Dunya could scratch her neck distractedly.

Claire and Avelaine woke up at the same time to do the daily morning routine of chores and cleaning, though the latter woke half an hour later than the former. For the two of them, routines were part of their training and a good display of discipline and focus, something that both sisters prized highly. The tournament, being only a couple of days away, brought much business to their inn and the surrounding area, especially the market places. The smiths, merchants and general stores were selling out of their potions and weapons like hotcakes, and the armories and clothing stores were busy with custom fittings and such orders.

The pair sparred and trained more today, this time with their real weapons. Of course, you couldn't call Avelaine's weapons "real" because all she really uses are her fists, one of them covered with a knucklebrace. Claire went to the local known blacksmith to get her two-handed sword sharpened, tempered and shined, and Avelaine went to get lighter, sturdier shoes for the tournament. Both had their reasons, but the common one was for "efficiency" in combat. With tournament slowly coming closer, both sisters talked over that night's dinner about which categories they would be entering, both agreeing with the other over the fact that they should 'divide and conquer' so as to get more chances of winning a category, and so that they wouldn't have to fight each other.

Night came and they prepared for the last day before the festivities began.
