"Well, I don't think I've ever been on the plains myself, so I suppose you'll have to take your word on it." And that was the truth; in spite of his wandering nature, he'd never really been in the grasslands, prefering the cover of the forests' trees. But worrying about cover was soemthing for those that worried to do; since he didn't worry, he literally had nothing to worry about!
Besides, at the moment he wasn't that interested in worrying. Moving his wings gradually up into Wadi's mane, he was continuing to marvel at the solidity of the other stallion's muscles. But at the same time, he didn't have a stocky neck; Duo had had a stocky neck, Safi remembered, but not Wadi. It was graceful, really...
He was rubbing his way back down to Wadi's shoulders when the other stallion spoke, the words catching Safi off guard. In a way, it was like a spell had been broken, but at the same time, another was cast as Safi realized what had BEEN said.
"Really? Well, I'm glad to hear that." Shifting slightly, Safi allowed Wadi a more comfortable angle, lifting up the wing on that side a bit higher so that Wadi wasn't leaning on the feathers (which had to itch). Having done that, he resumed the gentle shoulder massage, though disbelief at the cirsumstances was coursing through him faster than blood.

"You should come with me some time. There's lots of room to run and to fly and ... and just space." And it was easy to see anything coming as long as you stayed out of the really tall grass. The plains weren't that far from the lake so it could be a nice trip to take.
"Didn know yer feather were tha'soft." His more proper manners were slipping as he relaxed and wasn't paying as much attention to what he said.
It felt nice to have something solid to lean on and for once he wasn't thinking about what all could be out there waiting to eat him. He was just happy to be here and comfortable and with food and with a friend.

"Sounds like fun. Maybe we could even have a race on even footing; you running and me flying." That's probably the only way Safi could win a race, anyway; and given Wadi's own demonstrated fleetness of foot, it might be an even contest. "I'd be game."
Though not at the moment, as this was proving to be a fascinating meeting. At Wadi's question, he smiled a bit, fanning the feathers at the edge of his wing so that they were farther apart. "Well, sometimes they are, I suppose; they aren't too stiff, are they? I don't want you to itch or anything."
Strange how the spirit worked; it could overcome awkwardness and do it's best to act natural. But oddly enough...this FELT natural. "How's this?" Moving from Wadi's spine, Safi began to rub the muscles at the base of Wadi's neck, right where the neck and shoulder met. "That ok?"

"I might even still be able to beat you." Mama did say he ran faster than the wind. Though he'd never been able to beat Grandah in a race. He wasn't sure how Safi's flying worked with that but there was a chance.
"They're not itchy at all." He turned his head and nosed at the feathers. "Maybe it's cause yer not waterproof? Ducks'er itchy." He'd run into enough of those to know. It was probably cause the other stallion didn't have to worry about being in a lake all the time so the feathers weren't coated in anything.
When Safi shifted his rubbing he nodded. "Uh huh..." It still felt good. It was like having all the knots he usually worked up being scared all the time rubbed out.

"Well, once we have some space we'll have to see. I'm a pretty speedy flier, but I've seen you run and you're definitely a fleet one. We'll rain check."
Smiling, Safi gave Wadi a nod of agreement, already looking forward to that undertaking. It might be a pretty fun race, really; mixed media and all that.
Still, that was something to look forward to, not something to dwell on now.
Eyeing the feathers, Safi smiled as Wadi nosed them, musing on both the touch and the words. So he had nice soft feathers? Funny, he'd never noticed that. "Well, I've never felt a duck, so I guess I don't have something to compare. They aren't waterproof, though, so I guess it makes sense that they don't feel the same way...and now I'm rambling." Realizing that, Safi broke off, chuckling. "Sorry, you know how it is sometimes, you get going and then you can't stop and ANYWAY, glad this is alright with you."
He was flustered. Why was he flustered? He had no reason to be flustered, there was nothing flustery about this at all. He was fine. "So...you still comfortable? Everything good, shoulders feeling fine, all that stuff?"

"It's okay if you ramble.." He turned his head enough that he'd be able to see the other. "I don't talk a lot so ... so i guess it's better if you do." That way one of them talked at least. Besides he liked hearing Safi talk since it wasn't things he'd think himself or it was something he'd never heard before.
"I'm fine. I promise i'll tell ya if i get uncomfortable." He wasn't likely to sit there if he didn't want to. Not with how skittish he was. It almost reminded him of curling up with his sister when they were younger.

Was it better to assume that you were rambling or to KNOW that you were rambling? While Wadi wasn't perhaps the most tactful with that comment, Safi didn't mind at all; it was rather engaging, and sounded completely sincere, which was what was more important.
"Alright, but I'll hold you to that, Wadi. It'll undo all the magic I've managed to do so far, and who wants that?" As he spoke, Safi leaned over and gave Wadi a nuzzle, not really thinking about the action but just doing it because it felt right. Another thing that felt right. "Anyway, in the meantime, if you'd just turn a bit that way, I can get your other shoulder..."

He returned the nuzzle before he could think otherwise. It wasn't all that odd to him since his family was friendly like that and Safi was the only other he was at all close to. Memory didn't count since he'd only met her once after all.
"What magic? I didn't see any sparkles?" As he shifted as Safi told him he grinned at the other. He wasn't sure his teasing was going to work but he could at least make an effort.

"What? You didn't see the sparkles? They were all over the place, sparkling magically around your back like some sort of...sparkly thing." Yeah, that was brilliant. Still, he knew Wadi would get the general idea; after all, he was playing along, right? That grin had to mean something along the lines of 'I'm pulling your leg', or he was a wood squirrel. Which he wasn't!
Chuckling, he moved his wing over, shifting as well so that he could reach Wadi's other shoulder which had until moments ago been resting against his own side. Bringing around the other wing as well, he started to rub along the other side. "That working out for you? All that stress going away?"

"I'm sorry. I must have missed them" He continued to grin at the other. "Something else sparkly must have attracted my attention when i was suppose to be paying attention to those."
He made himself comfortable, which took a moment, and nodded. "... or at least it's making it better. I haven't though about being eaten in a while!" Though he technically had just now that didn't really matter in the long run.

"Really? Well, I somehow managed to miss the sparkly distraction, so distracted was I by my own magic sparkles. Darn those sparkles and their distractive powers!" Laughing, Safi tapped Wadi on the nose, amused at Wadi's on wit which had until now really slipped past Safi's notice. Not any more, though.
"Better is good, as is not being eaten. But on a more important note, where were you hiding this teasing spirit? Here you had me worrying about you, and you've actually just been stringing me along, acting all...otherwise. Tease!" Laughing, Safi shook his wing at Wadi in mock-fury, only to have the laughter reach the point that he couldn't even sit up straight anymore. This was too funny!

"Maybe you should pay attention to the other sparkles more often." He nudged the other's wing as he was tapped with it. "You might miss out on something important."
At the mention of him teasing he looked down sheepishly. "I'm not that funny .... really ..." It hadn't been that good. At least he didn't think it had been. "Or ... i've never been funny like that before."
The only way he was ever funny was when he did something silly and his Uncles laughed.

"I really should, shouldn't I?" Still laughing, Safi managed to choke out the words, though he was still laughing so hard his shoulders were shaking and he'd pillowed his head on his wings on Wadi's back, still laughing. It really wasn't that funny in and of itself, but somehow the circumstances made the whole thing...funny.
"I'm sorry, it's really not that funny, but it IS!" Muffled as the words were, the laughter in Safi's voice was more than a little audible. "It really, really, IS!"

"I don't see how it can be funny and not at the same time" That really didn't make any sense. If it was funny then it was funny. If it wasn't funny then it wasn't funny.
He tried to crane his head around to look at Safi and managed to nose the other's jaw. "Really ..... it's not that funny. It was a bad joke"

Sometimes you could explain, sometimes you could. Right now, it looked a lot like the other, as Safi was rapidly discovering. "Not true!"
Oh boy, this was a strong laugh. Realizing that he was starting to lean rather heavily on Wadi, Safi flopped the other way instead, resting head and wings on the ground and continuing to shake with laughter. "It's just..." He couldn't do it; until he'd gotten this laugh over, talking was impossible.
Way to break the mood, alright; curse you, sense of humor!
