"Unlike me, unlike me... Do you think I'm strange?"
+++

Alyssa reach out quickly to catch the ball and almost fumbled it, she hadn't been expecting the throw. The glass orb brushed against her fingertips and she cupped her palms desperately, hoping that it would follow the curve of her hand and come to rest within her grip. The ball looked quite sturdy but she didn't want to test that theory. Thankfully, it did roll down into her hands, settling there perfectly, as though her hands just fit with it.

She looked at it carefully. It didn't look like anything more special than a plain glass ball but... if Mathias said this was what she needed, she'd have to go along with it. Just like she was going along with a lot of things lately.

Her fingers smoothed there way across the surface of the ball, trying to learn it as Mathias had suggested. She couldn't feel anything except for the polished surface - it seemed as though the ball was pristine and didn't have a mark on it. Holding it carefully, she anged her hands so that it was better illuminated and out of the shadow cast by her body before she looked into it. At first she couldn't see anything - it looked as perfectly clear inside as it was outside - but as she looked deeper, harder she began to notice tiny bubbles trapped within the glass, probably left over from when the orb was first made. She could imagine this ball, still liquid and heated till it glowed dull orange, being shaped carefully by unknown hands...

Almost involuntarily, her eyes fluttered closed. Her breathing became slower and deeper. She could feel something building inside of her and even though her eyes were closed she began to see it. There was a ball of white light about the same size as the glass orb drawing itself together somewhere between her heart and her stomach. It wasn't just light, though - somehow she could see it constantly moving, and its edges shaped themselves into misty tendrils like white smoke. Carefully, she did the only thing she could think of to do. She sort of mentally gave the ball of light a prod.

In her eyes (or more likely her mind, she couldn't really be seeing this), the effect was instantaneous. Although the light in her chest did not seem to diminish in size of brightness, it sent out two lightly curling tendrils that wound their way down her arms to her hands, where they entwined themselves with her fingers but did not touch the glass ball. Go in, she told it and it did, although she could feel its reluctance to do so. She wondered why it wouldn't want to do something that would let her use it.

As it entered the ball in her mind eye, it spread itself thinly over the the inside surface, turning the ball an opaque milky white. But the feeling of reluctance was building in her, so she called it back and it quickly slipped out, back to her chest where she could now feel a radiating warmth, although her vision was fading.

She opened her eyes again, looking around to see what effect the glass balls had had on the others, wondering exactly what effect it had had on her. She hadn't really believed that anything would happen but - well, she could still feel it, the light in her chest, and if it was a hallucination then it was a very convincing one. Psi... whatever it might actually be, she had it, and so did all these people around her. But still, what was she supposed to do with it?

((Sorry this post isn't very good - I'm not feeling inspired today. xP))

Eli calculated the tracetory in his head and cought the ball perfectly. It was nothing special, and he was suspicious. He thought he could feel some guilt coming off of the boy who threw them the glass. It was like in the other place, when he had sensed the pain and anger of the wolves, but it was more discrete.

Again he heard whispers, some still coming from the girl beside him, but now there was another voice, a boys voice. He could barely hear it, but it sounded like he was debating with himself before throwing them the galss.

His suspision rose as he tried to investigate further. His focus completely on Mathias and the voice that came from him. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a green flash but it didn't bother him, almost as if it was supposed to be there. More green flashes appeared as he tried harder and harder. Soon they started making patterns, familiar patterens, computerized paterns. They streamed down him and he found the voices getting louder, untill it was as if he could hear them right next to him.

He found what he was looking for, it was nothing but a trick to get us to learn how to use the powers, to 'activate' them. He sat there, code streaming all around him and smiled. He let it drop and threw the ball back to Mathias. Nothing to it.

Mara sat quietly as the boy continued to explain their current situation. She began to grasp the things she'd experienced in her time here, and was happy to finally have found some understanding. She had noticed the young man on the other side of the girl look about, and found herself finally giving a quick glance around the room. Quickly she realized that the others had not made it, but no sooner than she had the revelation, the boy before her had tossed a small, glass ball in her direction. A small flicker of blue responded where her hands had failed to move quickly enough, hugging the small orb, and bringing it gently to rest in her palm.

She did not do as was directed, though. If they each had three powers, then she had already unlocked them. Telekinesis was the easiest for her to use, cryokinesis being a close second, but it had been far too long since she had used her ability to travel back and forth. She knew she could still do it, but she hadn't a clue as to how difficult it might be in the time that had passed. But that was something to be found out later, for whilst she gazed thoughtfully at the orb, the girl and boy had both managed to begin manifesting their psi energy.

Turning her attention back to the boy in the trenchcoat, she pushed her hair from her face, and allowed the orb to float lightly in front of her before sending it back to him.

{{Hey HEARTS if that's not good, then what is? Also, things in {} are thoughts (or []), but things in {{}} are OOC. Also, you can make a mind look like anything, but for now I have them as comps when Mathias's visualizing them.}}

Mathias felt a brushing against his mind. It was faint, but still there. {Who is doing that?} he thought, instantly feeling the connection pulse. He then did a small but hard trick-Projecting himself into his subconcious.

Mathias's Inner Eye- the eye that was part visualization and part psionic-saw him in a whirling maelstrom that quickly calmed down. He 'looked' around him and saw a band of green numbers and letters on the 'ground', leading to a door. He went over to the door and opened it, following the path along a twisted labyrinth until he found...a computer. His real eyes flashed as he laughed and caught the orbs tossed to him, while psionically he sat down and started typing at the computer. {{Haha! this is easier than the Maelstrom of my mind.} he thought as he browsed through the Recent folder. Finally he saw it-Psionics. (Somehow, it was right above 'Embarassing Memories,' which he chose not to look in) He looked in it, found what he needed, and left.

"Nice Job." Mathias said. He had returned to his concious mind and was grinning. "Although I would prefer it if you didn't poke into my mind, Eli. I know it's tempting, but it can be...unusual." He turned to the rest. "As you may have guessed, the orbs do nothing. They were a placebo-you believed they activated your powers, and tricked your own mind into using them. Now you should feel free to explore the building, but DONT OPEN ANY DOORS WITH A BLACK HANDLE. Those will send you to a random place." He walked out of the room, admiring the golden fountain pouring pure light. The huge fountain towered up all the way to the ceiling, some fifty floors up. This room was larger than a football feild from one end to the other. "And don't get lost...please..."

{A placebo, eh? How quaint...} Mara finally stood, and looked at each of the faces in the room with her. The girl's name was Alyssa, and from what she had gathered, the boy was Eli. Well, at least she knew what to call two of them. For the moment, she'd just have to call the trenchcoat clad boy by a nickname. For some reason, Sparky came to mind, and she let off a soft chuckle.

She began to wander about the large room, scanning the titles of various books. One titled Mind, Body, Soul: The Trifecta of Balanced Combat, caught her eye. Taking it from its place, she began to read, as she continued her way about the room.

Eli was astounded to find that the boy, Mathias he think he heard in the... what could be best described as a mealstrom of sparks and lightning. It hasd confused him, but still intreagued him.

He was hard pressed to try and read into the others in the group. It was all he could do but stand up and walk around a bit. He was astounded when the full size of the place finally sank in. The architecture, the fountains, the archways, the sheer size! It reminded him of a roman built snate house, only fifty stories high.

He gazed upwards to the pure glass roff where sonlight spilled through and lit the rooms and glittered off crystaline chandeleers and statues. He found what looked like an elevator and climbed onto it, he studied the mechanisms for a moment and finally found that there was no power source but a small crystal in the cntre of the platform which all the , well at least what he thought were, circuits ran to.

He touched the crystle to try and see if he could take it out and study it more closely. As he did the platform gave a slight shudder and bobed slightly as if floating. After a moment he decided to try and pull the crystal free, as he pulled it upward the platform jolted again and was sent flying upwards a good ten stories. Stopping graciously at level with the floor level.

Looking about he saw a row of statues, all made of the same crystaline material and shining from the sunlight coming for overhead. His mouth opened in amazement and awe of the sheer likeness and reality some of the statues held. As if you could talk to them and they would reply.

Eli walked along the rows and studied the statues. Some looked of mighty heros from all forms of history and all places. Medieval knights, Roman warriors, even a spartan or two. Great hunters and even some politicians littered the hallway and branched off in the massive room.

One statue in particular caught his eye, a man wearing a wizards garments like those in stories and carrying many scrolls and a large book. He looked very dignified and important. his figure exuded power and knowledge, and seemed to glow in the radiant light coming form the skylights.

On the base was a plaque like all the others, none seemed to be time worn and shorn as if they had just recently been finished. The name on the plaque bore a familiar name to Eli, though he still couldn't place it like amny things in his mind since he had come here.

The name was "Archemedies"

[[Ps. when you give us a huge place to explore I'll make it as grandure as possible. And alkl I can say about my post here is BLAM!!!
I'm happy now]]

[[Did i say artemis...I mean Archemedies...lol]]

{Sparky} Mathias heard the thought and sent privately to her {Actually, I believe I already told you my name is Mathias.} He watched as Eli got into the elevator, a feat wich was either brave or just plain dumb. He was tempted to tell him not to pull the crystal too hard, then decided it was more fun to let him learn by himself.

Mathias reached into his pocket and felt around, his arm disappearing up to his elbow in the magically enlarged space, and pulled out a cup of what looked like pure crystal. He dipped it into the fountain, and proceeded to drink the light he had scooped up. It was warm and refreshing, like being attached to a miniature power plant, but at the same time it served another perpose. He poured a little of the light over each lens of his contacts, then put them back in. The change wasn't too dramatic, but it let him see in the dark and revealed a certain passage that led under the fountain, where he proceeded to go, walking through the only fake column into an 'elivator', different from an elevator in that it's nothing more than a two-way conduit to travel down to the Chamber in.

Mathias emerged from the elivator into a round tunnel, needed to get to directly below the center of the statue. At the far end was a door that spoke up when Mathias got too close. "Ari-seno-morta rescogde flare imbrium, sar-blanc-qwenta illusius occumensa reconda?" Translated, it was roughly "What is the secret of Dark Fire, or is it only an illusion of the mind?"

Mathias stopped. This was a new question. {Let me see...the Ouroborus Star first, then the Shadow symbol, then the fire symbol, but what are the other two?} He looked around for a clue, then remembered. "Ourobora, Imbri, Flara, combira, portalis."

The door opened as Mathias sighed with relief. So together portal, to create portals to the land of Fire and Shadow, and combine them, was right. He walked through the door as the runes on the wall began to glow. Tapping the single crystal set into the floor, he saw lines of his rejuvenated psi flow into the center of the Six Portal. Where the Seven Portal was sealed by dials, the Six Portal was sealed by knowledge of the Runes.

Mathias began to speak, both simple runewords and complex ones. The process took longer than usual, because he had a plan. Cronus had to be defeated, and so they would go to one of the other realities to defeat the embodiments of the other powers. He finished after ten minutes of nnstap speaking, as the portal activated and the orb of light grew.

Mathias ran out of the room, running for Mara. {Mara! There is a light coming! When it covers you completely, use your power to flip! Otherwise we'll end up in the Home Territory of those Shadow Hounds!} He knew it would work, because if psi affected one person in the portal, it affected everyone. If she did it right, they would end up in a reality where the Eight Portal, the one leaking psi into the Realworld, never existed.

{{Artemis...Isn't that a girl's name? Doesn't Artemis mean the greek goddess of the moon?}}
