What's up with people hating Serenata?

Yeah, I don't get that either. Plus, he doesn't really do much in the guild. He seems to stick mostly to the main thread.

And I actually like Gamestop. *shrugs*

I love gamestop!

There's a few peps on the list I don't even remember. Dang I've only been gone two days!

I kno, the people at all the game stores near me are so nice. The salesman was so friendly when I preordered MP3 at Gamestop, and there's a really friendly guy who woorks at EB games.
Hey, Sakyh, check out the Breaking News thread in the Wii subforum.

Superjawes drives me up a wall sometimes, but what do you expect from Gamestop employees, you have to be a p***k to get hired there.
But the Geek Squad can't talk to a customer without talking down to them.

You can hate me all you like, but please don't bash Gamestop through me. If I have issues with Best Buy, they are my own and no one else's.
Way to generalize mate, my store writes people up for talking down to customers, guess how many write ups my team has for talking down to customers...

I'll put it this way, what's the square route of Zero.

And it's true, I've been interviewed by Gamestop, I'd probably be working there if Best Buy didn't hire me, you really need to be an elitist p***k to work there. Eitherway, I don't hate the company because of you, bad service all around (I've got a great story about how a dude wouldn't let me pre-order MGS3 because he felt that the Xbox was the best).

BTW, I don't hate you, I have stated several times that I actually have a great deal of respect for you. However, you are always on a ******** high horse, and you are a p***k. You show no respect towards those who have different opinions than you, and you toss out some of the pettiest arguments that I have seen since VisitorOfTheSpaceFissure.
Oooh! *jumps up and down* story time! Story Time!
So I walk into the local Gamestop and go to the counter, they had a couple of posters up with "PRE-ORDER NOW!" for MGS3, I was pretty stoked for the game, anywho, I go to the counter and request to pre-order it. The clerk was a aged mousy looking man who looked as if he was in the makeup from the original "The Hills have Eyes".

He looked up at me, gave out a heavy, wheezy sigh, and said:

"Why would you waste the money? The Xbox is a better system with better games. I refuse to let you pre-order that trash".

I asked to see the manager, he was the manager.
rofl ********. I'm so glad I have more than one game store near my house. The one I go to only has one location but has MUCH better service, it's much more fun to just hang around there, and unlike Gamestop (no offense, Jawes) you can actually talk to the staff about games. Like actually TALK like we do. They look at customers as friends and would never THINK of looking down on them.

eek

They aren't supposed to tell you not to pre-order it. It isn't an electronics store where the person directs you to the computer that meets your needs. Even so, he was being an a*****e and I would have walked out and not given him your business. I would have given him a piece of my mind to.

Tell the stories of the bad experiences at Costco (no clue what that is), and Petco (I'd like to know how they thought they can sell a dead fish!).

Tell us more gamestop stories too. mrgreen
The times at Costco have always just involved an arrogant employee who did nothing but talk down to me (One even resorted to baby talking me).

Petco was amazing though, I went in to get a fish for my desk (It's something I do after I break up with someone, I buy a pet for some reason), anyways, I wanted to pick up an Oscar, pretty neat fish. The kid scoops it up and puts it in the bag while I was off looking at the tropical fish. I turn around, he hands me the bag, I noticed it was dead.

"Hey buddy, this fish ain't of the living anymore."

"No no, it's alright, the fish is sleeping."

In awe that he actually thought that I was that stupid, I tossed the baggy of dead fishy at him and left the store.
rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

Oh dear god, that was funny. *wipes away tears*

I have to tell you about this one bad experience in Best Buy (it's not really funny, kind of sad.)

So it's Christmas season, me and my dad are picking up a laptop for my sister, we go crazy looking for the laptop, getting the warranty, all that, we're kind of rushing. We finally get it, pay for it, and we're about to leave. We ask the attendant for a bag, and he beats around the bush and bullshits until he finally gets to the point and says slowly "D-uh, we don't have a bag for it, but if you want we can put wire on it or...something mumble mumble?" My dad got fed up with it and just said "Forget it. Useless." and he left.

Oh, and the time I went to Gamestop and this fat lady was rude to me. ******** I had a Wii, wanted some Virtual Console games, and was looking for WiiPoints Cards. So I look on the wall where the Wii accessories are, right next to the games, and see no WiiPoints. I wasn't sure if they had them in stock or if they were somewhere else or whatever, but I went up to the counter and asked.

"Excuse me, do you have any WiiPoints cards?"

Her response:

"Pfft. WiiPoints? *points to wall behind counter* Do you SEE any WiiPoints? Feh.

eek *awkward silence*

We don't have any WiiPoints now, we might be getting more soon."

I don't even think I thanked her, I just walked away. Pissed, I decided to pick up Marvel Ultimate Alliance and me and my dad got on line. This kid in front of us was buying 5 games. That's it. Ringing up five games and putting them in a bag couldn't take that long, right? Wrong. This stupid clerk was chatting up a storm with the boys mother. This is what my dad said when we left after I bought the game. "Man, If this woman could work as fast as she could talk we would have been out of that store a LONG time ago."

I had a similar experience soon around January. I too asked for a Wii Points card and the clerk gave me a bunch of bullshit about it. But you can never trust what's not up on the wall. For example, around December, when the Wii was literally grabbed to be bought off of the trucks, I went looking for a second Wii-mote and nunchuk so my brother and I could play multiplayer on Christmas when we got the console. So I go to the EB in the mall and there aren't any up on the wall, but I decide to ask the clerk anyway. Apparently, he was keeping them behind the counter in their storage box so nobody would steal them. I don't think anyone knew they were back there because everyone got in line at the desk. So, end of story, I got an extra Wii-mote, nunchuk, and a classic controller.

Something seems to be up with Gamestop when it comes to Wii or Nintendo.

For example, in several Gamestops I go into, Ps3 and Xbox 360 get these hugs walls and posters so you see them as soon as you walk in, and the Wii? Feh. A little rack near in the corner so you'll never see them.

This one pisses me and my dad off though. We all know how much better DS is doing than PSP, correct? And yet in Gamestop PSP gets a BIG wall space, and DS gets the tiny rack with the Wii games in the corner. What. the. ******** is Anti-Nintendo, just like ******** Gamespot. Wait a minute... eek

Conspiracy theory there.

However, in my EB, there's a corner devoted to Wii with a big wall and a Wii demo station. However, the DS area is also small, just a little storage rack. The Playstation area is the only part that seems really overpowered, they've filled about 12 feet of wall with Playstation products, though most of that is Playstation 2 with PS3 and PSP game squeezed together at one end...

Well, I kind of lied about the Wii games, that's only happened in ONE Gamestop, but the Wall Space they get is so miniscule anyway they might as well have a rack. And DS does still get a rack.

Every Gamestop has the demo station, they have to. But still, the way they treat Nitnendo in comparison to MS and Sony is ridiculous. In one of the Gamestops I went in, Ps3, which is behind right now, got center of a wall that took up half of that wall, with posters, accessories, games, and even Ps3 boxes on shelves. They were showcasing it like crazy. Wii? 3 feet in width, a couple of accessories, and a measly label on top so you'd know it's there. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's pathetic.

Well, an important point is that Microsoft and Sony pay for that floor space. Last holiday season, all the Best Buys in the US were supposed to have Xbox 360 pyramids. I don't think they just felt that they should do it on a whim.
eek They pay for that?

I wonder why Nintendo wouldn't pay for it...

Well, mostly because they don't need to. Those displays are Sony and Microsoft's last chance to reach the consumer before they spend their money in the store. Nintendo does a little bit, not as much as they used to, but the wii gets enough free publicity that consumer is well aware of it when they go into stores. Maybe if Wii sales ever slow down, we'll see more advertisement, but not now when they can't even stay on shelves for more than a day.

It was the same during last gen. GC and GBA were always hidden around a blind spot. confused

The stores currently around me are the same. Wii is actually squeezed in a corner behind the door behind the cardboard cutouts. DS is right next to it. The whole rest of the store is 360 and PS except for a hidden area where GC is.
