Pulling away Manny blinked, eyes wide. Suddenly that seemed like it hadn't been so much sappy as weird. As soon as it clicked in her mind she blushed nearly as bright as he had. "Oops," she whispered, not noticing as the light flashed and captured their astonishment.

Harper sat in the booth for a couple of seconds, not daring to say anything.
He coulden't stand the silence for long, so he promptly cleared his throat, wiped his face off one more time, and smiled, "Alright! Ice cream time now, right?" Yeah, at least he didn't sound awkward anymore.

"Yeah. Definately." Manuela said quickly, stepping out of the booth. The photos were printing, and the timer on the machine said it would be able five minutes before both of the strips were available. At least that would leave some non-awkward ice cream time in between. "Do you want a cone or a cup?" she asked, scurrying toward the counter.

"Cone!" He said quickly, looking at her as though she were insane. "Isn't any point eating ice cream out of a cup; less your like fifty or something." Harper said knowingly. He walked after her to the counter and looked around at the ice cream; "Double chocolate fudge disaster?" He asked whoever may be tending the counter hopefully.

"I don't know," Manny agreed, "Some people drop cones sometimes." The girl behind the counter smiled when Harper asked for the flavor and led him over to one side of the row where the chocolate flavors are. "We have one that's German chocolate with chocolate chunks, and one that's chocolate with brownie pieces and fudge swirls," she told him cheerily, "But I'm not sure that we have one with that exact name." Meanwhile Manuela was browsing the specialty ice creams, which had two of her favorites. There was blue bubblegum and the red and green watermelon one with the candy seeds. And the rainbow cream. They had a lot of good stuff here.

"Brownie pieces and fudge swirls? Alright, that one!" He directed, beaming a smile. "But you might want to buy that double chocolate fudge disaster - it'd sell tuns!" He advised, "Hey Manny, whatcha' gonna get?" He called over, while keeping his eyes on what the girl dealing with him was doing.

"I'll suggest that to my boss. Single or double scoop?" The girl asked bubbily, reaching for a waffle cone. Manuela did a little einey-miney-moe in her head, then pointed to the watermelon one, "Watermelon Blast."

"Uhh.." His stomach said single, hey, it said none at all, but his mouth said, "Double!" He cheered, hurrying to the cash register and pulling out his money; looking forward to the ice cream gratification immensely.
"Watermellon? What's wrong with chocolate?!"

"Single for me," Manny told the girl, who went to prepare the cones. What was wrong with chocolate? "Nothing really," she said, "I just like the fruity sugar I guess. And this is like the only place you can get it." Soon the girl brought the cones to the counter and handed them over. The bill came to three dollars for Manny's and four-fifty for Harper's. Manuela paid for hers quickly then motioned to an empty table, "Might as well sit down."

Harper dealt with paying the lady in much the way he had the last one; and when it was done, he nodded. "I'll go check the pictures real quick, okay?" He yelled, hurrying back to the picture machine to check if their photo strips were done printing; all the while furiously licking away at his ice cream.

"Ok," Manny agreed, settling in at there table. She wasn't sure how long it had been, but if he wanted to check that was fine. It's not like it was a long way away. She took her first lick of the watermelon cream and made a hppy little nummy noise, pausing to chew one of the candy seeds. There was nothing like over sugary junk to make a kid forget weird stuff.

Discovering the little strips of paper sitting in the machine's box, Harper grabbed then and looked them over with his free hand. He was soon laughing again as he walked back to Manny and threw the strips on the table.
"You look funny." He said with a giggle, pointing at the first picture in the line up. "So I get one and you get one?"

When the strips hit the table she looked down at them, blushing at the reminder, "Yeah, you can have whichever one you want." Well, duh, they were both the same after all. Trying to avoid making another stupid face she went back to licking her ice cream, "So do you think your parents are going to laugh?"

"Why would they laugh?" Harper asked blankly, looking down at the pictures.
"Oh. 'Cause you KISSED ME?" Harper said with a grin, deciding the best way to handle this was by being loud and obnoxious about it. Seriously, he needed to stop saying things so loudly!
"Nah, I don't think my parents'll care much. My mother don't like Riley much, but she doesn't pay much attention to my friends.." He thought about it for a little bit. "Nope, none of them will care! Your mom is gonna laugh?"

"Probably," Manny admitted, "Or try and lecture me about something." She shrugged, "I think it's kind of cool that your parents don't care much. Mama Estelle thinks that I'm going to get hurt if I go anywhere, so I have to earn it." Then again, Estelle didn't really have the safety of police and things where she grew up.
