By my slightly chinky eyes, button nose?, and dark complexion usually. Well I'm not dark, but I have a slight perpetual tan. Maybe by my quiet humble demeanor as well. I'm usually shy and quiet at first, but I get friendlier by the second.
5'8"? Nice, I beat you by 3-4 inches. People usually just say I'm probably half because of height. Filipinos usually know I'm Filipino, but sometimes others think I'm vietnamese, then their second guess usually is korean. I have no idea why, maybe because korean's are so common.
edit 1: Korean's aren't so common around here.

Most people can tell that I'm Asian because of my eyes. I'm half-Korean and compared to most other Asians I've seen, my eyes are still Asian looking, but bigger and I have American facial features. I've usually been mistaken for being Chinese, but once I tell people I'm half-Korean, they like, "Oh! I see now!" blaugh Plus, I'm really short, but I kinda have a twinge of a southern accent... from my parents...they were raised in Tennessee and Kentucky... sweatdrop tee hee

Hahaha. This thread makes me think of when this guy in my French class started talking about how he can tell between different types of asians.
For me, I look at : Eyes, skin color, and cheek bone structure.
//I've been mistaken for Chinese and Korean a lot [by other asians D: ]because I don't quite fit in the category of a typical Vietnamese person.

Eyes, last name, and when they speak.
As for me, people just simply guess by my appearance. About 6 out of 10 get it wrong.

How do people recognize my Asian ethnicity?
They don't, and then they insist on "correcting" me.
Maybe you all need to teach the people at my school something about Asian ethnicities. smile
