phriedphishphan I really dislike the "Love Is Love" slogan. I understand what you''re trying to say with it, but I just think it''s too general. It sounds too much like you''re accepting of all love, inclduing things like ***** and beastiality. Love is love only when two consenting indivduals are involved. But that doesn''t have the same kind of flair to it.....hmmmm....how about REAL love is REAL love....no, that can be used to argue against the cause, I can hear the homophobes now....hmmm....."Heartfelt love has no gender"! (I agree that the previous covers a broad range, but we accept a broad range of individuals here! 3nodding )

What was it... there was a slogan that my friends & I came up with a while a go that was really good. It ... well you could say, HIT the homophobes we told it to HARD. But I'm trying to remember what it was... *thinks*. Ah, I'll think of it later. But it was a good one! whee

I too hate dyke and f**...urgh. In all honesty, I kind of preffer queer, even though it's had a little iffy of a slang history. It's genderless, and rolls off the tounge. If I had to say "I'm a lesbian/queer/gay" though, I'd probably just be like "I like girls." Uncomplicated, lol. Plus it's fun and more creative whee In general though, I try to be okey with whatever people call me, as long as I know they're not trying to be offensive. My drama teacher said I was a lesbian, some grade school friends asked if I was gay, etc. Though some words make me more uncomfortable then others, I can't change what other people say, I can only change my own reactions to them. Words only mean what we make them mean.
Concerning "love is love" - yeah, I agree. It's a nice phrase, but has loopholes. It's actually pretty offensive to think that someone would compare gay love to beastality o_O

I must say that I am probably truly lucky to go to the kind of school that I go to. We have a GSA there, I'm actually able to trust the fellow students that are there (I know all of them, Hopefully there will be new ones this next coming year ^^) witch for me isn't easy sience I have a trust issue (I'll explain later on another thread), and there arn't homophobs hanging around the door just to see who goes so they can call them gay and stuff and bully them.
Really, the only time I get harrassed about GLBT things is when I was wearing my 'No on measure 36' buttons. (Measure for re-writing the meaning of marrage here in Oregon.) then people would say like 'hey are you gay?' or whatever. But that was only about 3 people in total.
And I would say a GOOD amout of all the people I know are 'Gay friendly'
So I would say that I'm really lucky to go to the school that I do. Of course it has its problems, but I can actually say that theres a place in my school (gsa) that I feel safe in.
So I really don't have any problems with what 'people call me'. I only get ticked when people call me 'gay'. Then I get pissed because 'gay' is a MALE term. And Lesbain is a FEMALE term. Its like their calling me a MAN, and thats the only thing that bugs me is that they don't have the 'corret' terms.
