{Auron ; Leon : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening}

Auron remained prepared after this combined attack with Leon and with some additional help the tendril they attacked fell. But not before it and a few other tendrils made counter attacks of their own. Black acid rained down though it did little more than sting on contact to the unsent samurai. He gritted his teeth and bared the Tendril Cannon as it struck . Immediately after a razor-thin tendril lashed at him. The pain was from the lashing was little more than an annoyance to the warrior monk. However, he could feel a slight draining effect. The final counter was from the tendril they had struck, the explosive orbs knocking the samurai and his ally back though aside from the concussive force of it he wasn’t badly hurt.

A blade of flame then flew towards Auron and struck him before he could block it. The sword’s cut was painful but not overwhelming even with the flames that licked at the wound. It was bearable. More and more attacks came as several of them, including Leon were grabbed by thorny tendrils and dragged into shadow, out of sight. Until they returned in the center of the platform, their bodies ensnared and controlled like puppets. They each unleashed their own powers, painful needle-like rain assaulting them as Leon and Riku unleashed a powerful dark combined attack. Zell then struck with a massive shockwave which Auron stood and bared. He had no real choice. Ice shards fell, further battering everyone on the platform like a hailstorm and the Unsent Samurai had to wonder when the relentless onslaught would finally end.

Then he felt it a strange, internal attack, as something was attempting to interfere with his very form and morph it. However, it seemed it did not take hold and the effect soon passed. At the call for tanks Auron rushed towards the avatar of Chaos, blade raised at the ready, haste fueling his actions. As he drew near he charged energy into his blade and struck, hoping Nich would be focused on Riku’s attack and unable to avoid the Full Break followed up immediately by a regular attack.

Leon tried his best to guard and defend against the onslaught of attacks. Too many to keep track of from all sides. The blast from the Tendril circle not overwhelmingly powerful but strong enough to knock him back aways. Before he had a chance to attack again though a tendril came up from the ground. He winced in pain as the thin thorny vine-like accumulation wrapped around his entire body and dragged him through the platform into the darkness. He felt his body being pulled deeper and deeper into oblivion, the darkness licking at his body. Memories of the fall of Radiant Garden and his failure to protect his home gnawed at him incessantly within the abyss. He wanted it to end, to stop, for it all go back to normal…

Then it ceased and he stood at the center of the station. His body ensnared and controlled by thin tendrils that coiled all around him, the thorns biting in painfully every where they touched. He saw his blade as he unwillingly brought it forward, imbued with black and crimson energy as it grew as if manifesting a dark version of Lionheart.

'Sorry everyone, we’re not in control…, He thought as he and Riku unleashed a devastating combination attack, Leon’s Rough Divide unleashed at speeds and powers so fast that the gunblader couldn’t believe it before he vanished to strike again at the flanks of another.

In a few mere seconds it was done and the gunblader was released standing once again as he had started in the middle of the platform. He didn’t want to make eye contact with any of the group. Whether or not he had been in control he still attacked them. The painful pressurized rain that poured upon the field somewhat cooling his anger at the situation. His actions fueled by haste allowed him to quickly close in on one of the tendrils struck by Dani’s retaliatory storm. As he approached his blade cut into the ground a trail of energy flowing behind it. When he was in range he pulled his blade up to slice through it, the explosive force striking it as well as he leapt. Immediately after the Rough Divide attack the Gunblader followed it up with a downward slash at the same tendril as he descended.

Action recap:
Auron: Full Break followed up with a regular attack on Chaos.
Leon: Rough Divide with follow up attack on Tendril.

Joe : Louis' Heart : Endgame

Whatever brief satisfaction Joe had felt upon destroying the tendrils was quickly stomped to death by the cavalcade of horrors that immediately followed.

As a start, he was slammed into the floor by an unbelievably crushing pressure. It felt like a gravity spell but wrong, distorted even further than anything he could do.

Then that thing ensnared him and dragged him into the blackness. Made him hear even more voices that sounded familiar. Took control of his body and made him hurt the others. It sickened him, the feeling of being locked out of his own body. And throughout it all, two words range through his head:

"Wake up!"

On top of all of that he felt something hit him as he lay on the ground. It was a hex of some kind. It made him weaker, more brittle.

“Damnit...” he cursed, picking himself off the ground. He needed to stop Nick, clear the field, do something , anything…

But he was weak. He was tired and weak and ground down after an entire gauntlet of horrors. He didn’t know what he could do to distract Nick, let alone stop him.

It was all just so damned hopeless….

‘Boy’

‘Oh, what do you want this time!? I’m seriously not in the mood for your melodramatic crap!’

‘Oh, cease your whining you self-righteous infant! It is getting you nowhere.’

‘Well then perhaps you can tell me, oh great and mighty cosmic peacock, how the hell I am supposed to fight these guys with the constitution of a twig?'

‘Tap into it.’

‘What?’

‘Tap into my power. Our power.’

‘How in the word am I-‘

‘Just shut up and listen. You have within you more potential than you could ever comprehend. Loath as I am to admit it I am a part of you, tied to the very essence of your being. That means my power is also yours. Not just to summon, but to channel. Focus enough and you can become a conduit of my strength on the material plane'

‘And you think that’s enough? That it can stop all of this?’

‘Even if the answer was no, and it most certainly is not, are you really just going to quit? After everything you went through to get this far, all those days spent fighting to survive, will you really just lie down and give up?’

‘…’

‘I thought so. Now, focus.’

Joe took a deep breath and began to look inward, his mind locked on Atomos’ voice.

‘Focus!'

His entire body began to glow with violet energy as the space around him began to crack and distort.

‘Excellent. Now, open your mind.’

He did.

And Joe’s world exploded in a flash of color and sound, the energy of the cosmos flowing through him. A shell of light silloeted the grey knight and then shattered, leaving Joe floating several feet off the ground clad in indigo mail, a faceless helm, and a flowing violet cloak. His blade had transformed from a side sword into a massive Spadone, pulsing with the same cosmic energy that flowed from him.

A bolt of dark lightning descended from above towards him. He simply side stepped it and began to yell out in a voice that was not quite his own.

“What do I see before me? Gods? Night Terrors? No, I see naught but weeds and false gods. You all deal with the weeds. While I-“

He teleported from where he was, reappearing behind Chaos, sword in hand.

“-WILL SEND THIS FALSE GOD SCREAMING INTO THE VOID!”

With a yell he let out a burst of anti-magic, hexing the scion with slow, before bringing up his blade in an understroke to the dark knight’s spine.

OK, wow that was a lot. Just to be 100% clear, Joe has S-Tranced with Atomos, giving him +3 to magic and +2 to strength, defense, and resistance. The actions are:

  • Charge (Extra 2 stat points distributed. 1 in strength, one in defense)
  • Warp Step + Tranquil Walk of Peace on McDoodles
  • Sword Attack/Backstab at McDoodles

Buffs Active on Joe: Faith, Bravery, Haste, auto-Float, auto-G-Strike.
His stats right now are:
  • Strength: 11
  • Defense: 8 (Started from 2 due to DeProtect)
  • Magic: 18
  • Resistance: 17
  • Skill: 12
  • Reflexes: 10
  • Speed: 6
  • Constitution: 7
  • Energy: 9

Trance Skills relevant to this post:
  • Warp Step: While in the trance, Joe can teleport as a move action. This still costs some mana.
  • Auto-Float: As long as the trance is active, Joe automatically has the float buff
  • Weapon Transformation: His side sword is now a greatsword.
  • Auto G-Strike: While in this form, the difference between physical and mystical strength is blurred. Joe automatically adds his magical strength to every physical attack he makes. Only counts for hand-controlled attacks.
  • Telekinetic Weapon: Not relevant to this post, but here for future reference. While in this form, Joe can wield his weapon telekinetically at no cost. When wielded telekinetically, the weapon uses magic for damage instead of strength.

And, breath.

[ Kyle ; Amy ; Melisandre ; Riku ; Sora ; Jenny : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening ]
[ Reactions first; Actions after the * ]

It had happened midstep—he’d even tripped as his legs were snared, but before he could faceplant, he was dragged under, into the darkness.

He’d been here before, so often, so deeply, but this was easily the worst he’d experienced; while his past made him more resistant than most, he couldn’t deny that it still hurt. Just not nearly as much as what came next.

This could be going better.

Kyle continued jogging, even as the station shifted, even as chaos erupted. The tendrils sank in, which left him clear to reach for Chaos, but then their own allies were puppets on strings. He was only barely able to dodge the double-strike by Leon and Riku, but the subsequent eruption knocked him off his feet, sending him sliding toward the edge—

Not a chance!

Stabbing his spear into the ground, he skidded to a halt inches before the edge, near another risen tendril. Of course, the spear only became a lightning rod, he assumed, as the bolt struck him, tingling his nerves, along with the needle-like rain. He groaned.

We’re still being overwhelmed.

Dawn flew up from the side, appearing with wings and power; Joe surged with his own summon's power--Armor? Fancy--and was off to take on the host with a much greater sword (Hah.) than he'd had before.

His mind went back to Atlantis.

Melisandre saw the blade coming for her, and with narrowed eyes, she tossed her hand out—and stopped the blade in mid-swing, mid-air. She held it there with force, briefly, before pushing outward—and throwing the blade backward as if overcome by a yet more powerful gale.

Sora was struck by the duo at first, sending him careening sideways, and then again by the time he got back to his feet. He was starting to pant, his body beginning to show bruises as he took more wear and tear than he could keep up with, including the shockwave (for which he barely braced himself), rain and lightning.

They had to stop the tendrils, but they had to stop Chaos, and they had to stop the Darkness above them. They were many, but there was so much to do, and each could only do so much…

Riku—!

And then the shadows knocked him back on his feet. He growled and began running toward the center, where Riku had landed.

Jenny was knocked sideways, both by the Dark Divide and then again by the Meteor Barret. Worse, before she could get her music back up, she was struck by lightning, earning a soft whine as she recomposed herself.

With all the commotion, Amy began grumbling. It was harder to heal people if they were split up, but if they grouped together they’d be hit by more. And how the hell could she tell if people needed healing if they didn’t call it out?! She needed a Scan heads-up display, that’s what.

*

Doing what she could, Jenny cast Banish on one of the tendrils again, following up with the Haste song again, to keep her allies going.

Still, she had a pretty good guess about who needed it based on what she’d seen. So she cast Curaga—weakened as it was to Cura—on Joe, Axel, and Riku. Her magic had area of effect qualities, so any allies near those three would also be healed. And since she, Jenny, and Dawn were near Axel, that gave the three of them some extra life force, too.

That meant that Auron and Zell would be healed near Joe, and … whoever was within 5 feet of Riku would be, as well.

Meanwhile, Melisandre let loose an arcing bolt of violet lightning, striking at another tendril.

Riku turned toward Sora, noticing the look of determination in the younger man’s face and recognizing the thoughts and ideas behind his charm message. As his spiky-haired friend offer a hand to help him up, he contemplated it, weighed it…

… and took the hand in a flash of light.

As the brilliance faded, where once had been two, now only Riku stood, his clothes filled with the deep yellow hues of Master Form. In his right hand, the Road to Dawn remained tightly gripped; beside his left, the Kingdom Key hovered, flourishing and spinning, waiting for use.

He looked to Chaos—Joe, Zell, and Auron were already on him, and John was heading that way. They would be able to handle that, so with a curl of his arms, and an aura of light—

He was an invisible blur. At one moment, he was hovering near one tendril that Leon had struck, unleashing a string of attacks, but it was soon demolished, and just as quickly he was across the field at a second, doing the same, except this one completely evaporated as a result—and then again, elsewhere, for a third assault, destroying this one as well, before reappearing right where he’d begun, maintaining a defensive stance.

Three more down.

Ultima.
Oh, how I have waited for this…

{ Cue : Worlds Collide ~ FFXIII-2 (Crank to 1.25x Speed) }

With quickened pulse, his eyes flashed violet as he invoked the Masterpiece.

In a burst of gold, magic circuitry covered every inch of visible skin, and behind his back, four long, golden “blades” appeared, each approximately the length of a longsword, hovering and vertically revolving. His own weapon hovered to his side in a similar fashion. His hair took on streaks of silver, and his clothing, once mostly green with touches of gold and white, was now mostly gold with touches of green. The emblem on his torso armor, Ultima’s command seal, had a slight and constant glow, just as a constant, magic whine echoed from the energy wings on his back that seemed more like invisible rockets than flapping wings.

A surge of magic, and the world’s speed seemed even lower, though it was simply that his reflexes were greater.

With a grin, he muttered three words Chaos would find all too familiar if he could hear him, his voice a fusion, though there seemed to be something making it deeper than Ultima's should have been—

“Stone Living Hunter.”

With a great rumble, seven large boulders, each the size of a basketball, rose from the concrete beneath his feet, and with a fury all their own, they rushed toward Chaos, zigging here and zagging there to avoid running into anyone. Once they were within just a few meters of the Scion’s host form, they surrounded the battle, each unleashing a storm of stone bullets.

Meanwhile, Kyle he lashed out with another Lancet Strike at another tendril as he began to run around the station, his speed making him little more than a blur.

[[ Hoookay.

[ This is Futile : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening ]

Leon's strike, and Riku's finisher, killed one tendril. Riku went on, empowered by Sora, to destroy two more.

Jenny's Banish successfully killed off a fourth tendril, and Melisandre's bolt did the same.

So much mist rose, so much darkness, that the abomination was gargantuan even now, and it became clear what was happening: the Darkness was nearly halfway forming a dome over the entire station. There was still quite a bit of space to go before it fully encapsulated it, but soon they would be completely surrounded, encased...

And yet, looking out beyond the platform itself, were they not always so consumed?

James would have felt it first--regardless of his struggle, of whether or not he felt it, there was an itch that seemed to envelope his entire form... and then, like a leash around his throat, he felt himself yanked into the abyss beyond, and his sight went black.

Unfortunately, even as Dawn danced, her magic pouring into reviving the ninja, she might have felt the same itch. The same crawling sensation that she had thought to escape by flying from the endless darkness. But she and Yuffie had fallen, just as James had. They had touched the Darkness... and it had never left them.

As if the base of her wings and her throat had been ensnared by wire, Dawn was ripped from the station in a blur of unseen shadow, pulled sideways out into oblivion, out of sight, and Yuffie followed immediately thereafter.

The darkness was forever. It was eternity, it was suffering. But James and Dawn would have heard it all the same, beyond the infinite laughter, beyond the chorus of howls--a single, piercing voice, perhaps a father, perhaps a niece...

"Wake up."

And then, once more, their vision returned... as they dropped from the Darkness above, descending upon the station by black tethers, their bodies wrapped in thorned tendrils.

Though the magic of Raise had been wasted and washed away, Dawn could feel her body dancing again midfall, and she knew the steps, felt how heavily it drained her mana, leaving her with barely any of her own--she was casting Aura, preparing to give someone access to their hidden energies, preparing to break the limits of one target and one target only...

... Bobbi?

Before he even touched the ground, James could feel one hand reaching toward the barrel of his gun, spinning it wildly round, and pointing it toward Chaos. It was a move he hadn't used, but power his heart contained, the Darkness dredging it up from his innate potential... and tainting it. Even as the barrels spun, he could see the tendrils reaching out from his hand to manipulate the barrels' speed, knowing, choosing which outcome was best...

And with a pulled trigger, James unleashed a predetermined Russian Roulette, imbuing Chaos with Haste, Bravery, Faith, and Regen.

Yuffie, unlike the others, was limp even as a controlled marionette, looking as lifeless as a puppet. However, she pulled off the ground, hovering, and her arms rose above her head, channeling massive amounts of energy into the space above. Those that knew her well knew what this was. But there was little to be done, and she unleashed the Gauntlet in Chaos' direction. Though it would do little against him, the explosive blast would damage anyone within 6 meters of him--well beyond melee range, enough to even damage the flying stones attacking Nicholas.

The three were then left to drop, Yuffie falling with a hard thud in the center.

In the midst of this, what few tendrils remained--only seven--continued to writhe and pulse.

The first to notice something amiss was Kyle, who felt something attempting to sap away as his body, his defenses... and they all faltered. Whatever it was, his defenses, his resistances... they all were wrought to nothing. He could feel it in his flesh and bones, in his magic aura--he was defenseless.

Riku would find himself the target of two dark, whirling scythes. Whether or not they struck true, they each exploded into three more identical blades, homing in on Axel, Jenny, Nanaki, Leon, Melisandre, and Joseph. They were almost impossible to see in the dim light of their battle, fading in with the shadows cast by the Darkness.

A third tendril cast its lot, and suddenly, Bobbi found herself Quickened... giving her enough of a temporal boost for two maneuvers.

[[ Dawn used Aura on Bobbi! Dawn is left with just enough mana for a single action!

James used Russian Roulette on Chaos! The Darkness cheated; Chaos now has Haste, Bravery, Faith, and Regen.

Yuffie used Gauntlet on Joe, Zell, Auron, and whoever else was close to Chaos. 8 MAG.

Tendril Vitty - Vit-0 on Kyle. (Sucks to suck...)

Tendril Raid - 14 STR on Riku twice; 10 MAG on Axel, Jenny, Nanaki, Leon, Melisandre, and Joseph once.

Tendril Quick - Quick on Bobbi, +2 Actions immediately ]]

[ McSparkles :: Louis' Heart :: Endgame ]

This was his true home.

The madness, the yelling, friend and foe dropping like the insignificant insects they were. Chaos couldn't help but smile in his new body, watching the 'heroes' struggle and fight. He glanced up at the first attack headed his way, a large Meteor attack. The Walker of the Wheel let out a sigh, whipping his chainblade up and bisecting the incoming attack. It shattered into shards that rained upon the battlefield, and though bits struck Chaos, he was mostly unharmed. The foolish boy with the large maul charged him, screaming loudly. Ah, the thrill of battle. However, the brawler was not quite ready to play yet, so Chaos ignored him for the moment and focused on the closes enemy.

Next came the monk, delivering fist and foot towards Chaos. He couldn't help but be amused with Zell's fervor, and smirked as he weaved in between the attacks, making sure the monk could see the amusement in the futility of his strikes. The water clone caught Chaos slightly off guard, and was smacked full on. The swordsman -swordsgod?- caught himself quickly, spinning almost gracefully around the battlefield before coming to a stop around Auron. The way the large blade came down was almost pathetically slow and once again, the Scion gracefully dodged the magical blade attack and dashed away once more. Was there not a single mortal who could keep up with him? A look of disappointment hung on the villain's features, and he looked around.

"Is there no one worthy to battle? Bring on your stronge-" Chaos bellowed, before hearing one of the Earthlings; one he knows he had never seen before calling out around the battlefield. The way he spoke was odd, but the Esper had no time to consider the strangeness of his words before the stranger had appeared behind him and attempted to cast some form of magic upon him. The fallen god spun around, and to Chaos' amusement, the magic didn't affect him but the sudden sword going for his spine was another matter. The Esper made a quick hand movement to catch the blade and force it aside, but the power this stranger had was immense and his blade went up and cut along Chaos' upper torso and shoulder, leaving the Walker of the Wheel stumbling back in shock. He stared at Joe for a long moment in surprise before breaking out in a smile.

A genuine, honest to evil smile.

"This is what I-" Chaos began before being interrupted again. The voice of a very familiar foe rang out; he couldn't help but swoon slightly as the barrage came for him. It reminded him of his past with the High Seraph...

Chaos was bound to Ultima in the times of old; she was the Goddess in charge of reincarnation. He was the original Guardian of the Crystals, and was bound to watch them for all eternity. However, being placed within the world of man was draining. The wars, the famine, the patterns. Nothing ever changed. When his time was up, he would return to Ultima to begin his ascent into heaven with his duty complete. Every time he would arrive, however, the angel would send him back to watch the crystals again. And his world was once again thrown into predictable turmoil. Eons would pass, until the day he arrived once again.

She offered him her hand.
Fight with me, she had said. Let us rebel against those who command us to our tasks. The scion of wind couldn't believe what he had heard her say. Rebel? But her words continued, and he couldn't help but be drawn to her as she spoke.

"Be as free as you desire."

The Walker of the Wheel followed her with zealous fever after that, and they went to war against those who had bound them and their champions. He could remember the blood, the violence, and as much as he was loathe to admit, Chaos loved the battlefield. He, Ultima, and his other eleven "brothers" and "sisters" would be cast out in their defeat, bound into another dimension for their rebellion. Ultima would lead them again, combining their powers to open a rift to rebel once more. The High Seraph went first, and the doorway was shut. She was gone...she had betrayed them. The hatred had exploded, and his only desire was to destroy her once and for all. Then he would receive his reward.

Back in the present, Chaos was being bombarded with stones. One of the Darkness' puppets had sent some form of attack his way, and though it did little damage, it had protected him from a majority of the barrage of earth. With a quick snap of the fingers, all of his elemental blades had returned to him. The blessing of the roulette hit him all at once, and Chaos felt the damage that had been done to him slowly vanish.

"Now, this is a battlefield worthy of my honor!" He roared, the blades of flame, frost, and thunder roaring to life with magic. An orb of their respective element formed before quickly firing out as a beam of magic. The fiery beam headed for the knight who had struck him so fiercely, the beam of frost shot across the battlefield for the white haired Keyblade wielder, and the lightning attack shot into the sky towards Ultima and her host. His attention turned towards the possessed ice archer, and a grin appeared once more.

"Be a loyal servant and help me end this little farce!"

Woo! okay, let's summarize all the crap that went down.
-Chaos destroyed the Meteor attack by Riku, but didn't outright stop it so he took damage. [1]
-Chaos ignored John and his bellowing.
-Dodged Zell's fist and kicks before getting hit by Demyx's Water Clone
-Got out of the way of Auron's attacks due to speed difference.
-Utterly blindsided by Joe's attack strength, pushed sword up in attempt to deflect blade entirely, cut along chest and shoulder instead. [2]
-Bombarded by Kyltima's rock attack before Yuffie's move protected him from further harm. Boulders are not destroyed and will still attack.
-Summoned blades, was buffed by James' Russian Roulette.
-Sent three magical attacks (Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga [MS:15 thanks to Faith]) towards Joe, Riku, and Kyltima.

{Bobbi .:. Louis's Heart .:. Station of Awakening}

The dark perversion of her own Hailstorm spell hurt when it struck, and Bobbi cursed under her breath—only to have that breath knocked from her lungs as something struck her in the backs of her legs, knocking her to the ground. As she lay on the concrete and felt the stinging rain of Dani’s Pressure Storm and tried to get her lungs to start working again, she felt all of the frustration and anger of the past day welling up within her. All that and more. Everything she had ever been through, no matter how minor the transgression, seemed to hit her all at once. It hurt, all of that betrayal, that emotional pain, in a way that made her physical wounds feel insignificant. Slowly, shakily, Bobbi rolled over and got first to her knees, then to her feet. Her mind reeled, but everything was coming to a focus—

"Stand with us… kill them all."

Of course.

It was the right thing to do, it was the only logical course of action. She couldn’t remember now why she had been fighting so hard against this darkness. It made so much sense—kill them, and everything would be right again. Why hadn't she seen it before?

She felt her energies heightened as the Aura spell washed over her, and her mana pool seemed filled to bursting. Or... no, not the mana pool. Something else, but she couldn't quite identify what. Before she had a chance to fully register this boost, she also felt her time speed up—or everyone else's time slowed down, she wasn't sure. Whatever had happened, it was exactly what she needed, and the Archer felt a fierce glee welling up from deep within, knowing that she could do something to finally make this entire situation right again.

"Be a loyal servant and help me end this little farce!"

Quickly, she cast her Frost Armor spell on Nichaos, encasing him in glittering, icy armor, then gathered her remaining enhanced energies for a devastating strike. Still in her position at the center of her erstwhile friends, Bobbi summoned up all of the power within her—and unleashed it in an unholy blast of magic as she activated her Diamond Dust limit break.

Her frigid magic spread out around her, coating the ground with a thick layer of ice that exploded soon after. It wouldn't freeze everyone in place, but it would at least hurt them, many of them, and that was what mattered. Before the effects of the erupted ice magic faded, Bobbi aimed Taulmaril into the sky and launched a single, magic-coated arrow that burst at its apex and rained down on the field as what seemed like hundreds of dagger-like icicles.

-

[[Hokay, so, here's da earth, with Kyle's permission I've modified my Diamond Dust limit since a) it didn't hit enough of you, and b) I hadn't used it yet so I totally could. Basically it's a combo of my Deep Freeze and Hailstorm spells. Breakdown:

Step 1: Blizzaga damage on everyone. No, really, everyone. Yes, you read that right.
Step 2: Roll to see if you're Frozen (better known as Stop). According to the front page, that's your Resistance times 2. My MAG is at 10, Stop is a -2 penalty, so if you roll less than 8, you freeze.
Step 3: Ice daggers falling from the sky. Good luck dodging if you're Stopped

{ We Are }

The laughter began to echo, and even those Stopped by Bobbi's storm could hear it in their time-locked hearts, as if it went on for eternity.

The abomination audibly rumbled above, the blackness fluctuating with deep purple flashes of energy, the countless eyes and growths flickering with malice. Those who could move, those who were able, would notice the coming storm, the rush of energy--

--and bolts of power crashed down where everyone stood. They were fast, but not instantaneous; they could be dodged... by those capable.

Those not, however, those held in frozen stasis would find themselves struck with a column of negativity that lingered, surging through them not once but twice.

As the bolts faded, all those stopped were brought back into normal time... but whether they were able to remain standing was something else all together.

[[ Terror Bolt - Double dose of 7 MAG on anyone struck.

This ends Stop (since Stop guarantees 3 strikes, and the latter half of the Limit Break counts as one). ]]

{James : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening}

Gaaah!” James yelled in pain as his descent was stopped as his back slammed into something very hard. His head whipped back from the unexpected impact, cracking against the hardened ice spire that Mizu had called forth.

However, as was the problem with pretty much all things made of ice, it was slick, and even though the corsair had not fallen, he was rapidly sliding towards the edge. Doing what little he could the corsair dug his fingers curled inwards like claws, and his heels into the surface with the hopes of slowing down sufficiently so he would not plummet. He cringed as his fingers scraped painfully against the hard surface. However, it worked and the lunar gunner came to a stop right before the spire ended. With a quick glance he realized he was on a platform made of ice and knew who was responsible.

’Thanks for the save Mizu,’ He stated through the charms with a huge sigh of relief. He was safe for the time being, though he could tell he was pretty beat up.

He looked up at the platform above as he laid on his back. He was a fair ways down the side of it. Mizu got lucky that she made the spire long enough to catch him. He could already tell that it was too far for him to jump back up to the main platform. With a groan he carefully rolled onto his stomach to push off of the ice to get back to his feet. He turned to face the platform, his mind still mired in the strange fog.

’My memory problem is definitely a status ailment. I will need help when I get back up to the platform,’ He stated over the charms. ’If I can…’ He thought with a sigh.

Suddenly he felt a strong strike at the back of his knees from the shadows. He gasped as he felt his legs buckle from the impact and on the ice he slipped and yelled as he began to fall off of the spire. He reached his hand out fruitlessly grasping for power, something, anything to save him.

Then he felt it, a strange itch all over his body and then he was grabbed quite forcibly by the neck and yanked into the abyss and his vision faded to black. The darkness was infinite, deep, and all encompassing. Throughout the abyss he could hear the maniacal laughter that had emanated across the battle field. However, then he heard it. A familiar voice, a voice that he missed very much.

”Wake up.”

”Dad?” James asked as he gazed through the darkness trying to see him, a single tear streaked down his face and then immediately after his vision returned…

The corsair descended upon the platform, dropped by black binds. His body wrapped in thorny tendrils. He watched as against his will her raised his gun and spun the barrels as he aimed it at Chaos. Addled as he was he had no idea what the attack he unleashed did or the trouble that it spelled for the group. After his attack? If that was what it even was the corsair felt the tendrils release him and his legs buckled slightly as he landed, though he didn’t fall.

”What did I just do?” He asked looking at his friends and allies.

He looked around the field, dazed and confused, noting primarily that there were far fewer tendrils remaining. However that was all that he had the opportunity to glimpse before the field was covered in ice. Bewildered the corsair looked over at Mizu, his look of confusion turned to shock as the ice exploded at his feet, damaging them, which normally wouldn’t have happened. Then she unleashed a second attack into the air that exploded into countless ice shards that rained down upon them. Both attacks sent ice shards slicing and cutting into the corsair the cold of the attack draining his energy and his strength even more considering how much damage he had already taken.

{{Cue: Bloody Promises}}

As the attack subsided the corsair had to fight for all he was worth just to remain standing. He was battered, beaten, and bloody on the verge of collapse. He was barely able to move out of the way as the Lightning struck from above. At that point… at that precipice where he felt like he could take no more, came great power. The power to push beyond one’s physical limits coursed through his veins. His network of energy glowing through his skin. It was different though, it showed bright and golden and continued to shine brighter to the point his body could not contain it….

The corsair yelled out in agony as all at once the power was unleashed. Every amount of energy that he could muster, all of his magical power, which would normally have been unleashed through the hexagun in some form or another had no where else to go without James being able to focus on it’s form. As such it escaped in the only method that it could… Through his very being in a massive, uncontrollable burst of golden energy that enveloped the entire field in an explosive attack.

When it was all over the corsair’s strength gave out and he fell to his knees, his hands falling limply to his side. He was spent and on the verge of blacking out. He remained there on his knees, unable to move as he tried to catch his breath and fought to stay conscious.

[ Melisandre ; John ; Matthew ; Sayrike : Louis' Heart : Station of Awakening ]

"Be a loyal servant and help me end this little farce!"

Melisandre turned, wide eyed, and watched in tense shock as Bobbi called forth immense magical power, striking from below and then from above.

The time songstress, Jenny, had been stopped and struck--Haste was undone.

The sorceress blurred forward in unseen motion, dodging the bolts that would come down on her without a second thought and appearing behind the archer. Before the girl could react, she gave a swift chop to her neck--not powerful enough to knock her out, but hopefully strong enough to bring her to her senses.

"Free yourself, human!" she bellowed, quickly looking this way and that to try and gauge the rest of the battle. So many were falling like flies. The energy from James had washed over, and that seemed to destroy two more tendrils, but there were so few people that could revive as it is...

"AhhhHHHH!" Matthew shouted in frustration as everything went to s**t and back. There was really only so much he could do--but he saw both James and Joseph weakened, and knew that everyone was getting pummeled pretty harshly.

He pulled out his two potions, and he pulled out two Arctic Winds, and he thrust them all together at once, concentrating, synthesizing, before letting the combined energies erupt from his hands.

A cool wind rushed throughout the battlefield, healing all allies for a small amount. Each Gentle Breeze mix was already slightly weaker than a potion, so with the Bar-Heal, they were diminished further--but combined, it was the equivalent of everyone having one potion.

John grumbled as he stood up from his own Trine attack being throne back at him--oh he recognized it alright, he knew that attack, even if it was corrupted. Then everything else went to s**t, energies rushing over him, ice pummeling through him, and he grimaced... but he did not falter again.

Taking advantage of Chaos' distracted nature, John channeled energy into his legs, and burst forward in a silent blur, striking at his enemy with his Sonic Maul attack straight to the chest. Then, already there, already ready, he followed it up with a Greased Lightning from his fist, aiming for the man's lower jaw in a blurring uppercut.

He may have been slow on his feet, but once he was in the target's face, he could be as swift as his element.

Sayrike grimaced through it all--particularly Riku's sudden disappearance and assault--but was trying to formulate a plan, anything.

She even Scanned the darkness above them, hoping for a hint, anything, but received little more than what Matthew had told her of in Atlantis--endless symbols and hopeless numbers.

With little else planned, she considered using the captured sword against a tendril, but decided against it--he could only use five until she let it go, it seemed. So instead, she looked for someone who needed healing in particular, and decided to cast Shellra on Joseph. She knew his magical defenses were particularly low, and this was seeming to be a magic-heavy battle yet again. Hopefully it would help, with Matthew's slight healing.

The sorceress cursed under her breath, still beside Bobbi. "Not enough..."

Staff once more in her hands, and a vaporous mist faintly surrounding her, she began to channel restorative magic into her staff's head--hopefully, she would remain uninterrupted.

[[ Haste is temporarily over.

Cure-All (actually 2xGentle Breeze); everyone receives roughly a Potion of healing, approx. 4 Constitution worth.

Sonic Maul + Greased Lightning on Chaos.

Shellra (+3 RES[thanks to buff weakener]) on Joseph.

((Posting with Kyla’s consent))
[Kyla : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening]

Kyla remained where she was, floating a few feet above the battlefield as she surveyed the chaos that ensued all around. Before she could act again she was struck by a massive force wave that knocked her back. The power of the blast was strong enough to knock her out of the air as she landed harshly a few feet away from the edge of the platform. As she recovered and tried to decide her next course of action more chaos ensued. Allies were turned against each other, unleashing powerful versions of attacks that damaged them all. Then came Bobbi’s Limit Break and the damaging ice attacks that came with it. All she could do was grit her teeth and bare it. Afterwards came the Lightning storm which Kyla was able to dodge.

After it was all said and done Kyla focused her magic and after imbuing them with Light she unleashed two large ethereal birds. One of the Birn Strike Level 2 flew straight at one of the remaining tendrils that seemed noticeably weakened and successfully dispatched it. The second luminous bird flew straight at and struck another tendril.

[Axel : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening]

Axel was overwhelmed, after his chakrams did what damage they could all hell broke loose. He was attacked by one of the anti-forms, their allies were turned against him and before the Nobody knew it he had reached his limit and he crashed to the ground unconscious.

{ Yet Still You Struggle? Your Ends Are Written. }
{ Last Stand }

{ Alt: L'Eminenza Oscura, First Movement }

The air was charged with negativity, and not all of it stemmed from their enemies. Fear. Anger. Anxiety. Rage. Dread. Hatred. The darkness inhaled them all, their gaze taking in every bleak, futile action as their reality lost more of its light, steeped in so thoroughly in shadow that the gleaming rain of memory fragments seemed like tiny, diamond stars softly falling and fading to nothing.

Fading to nothing.

"This heart returns from whence t'was born," those voices once more echoed throughout the station, their minds, their hearts, their own memories. "As shall you all. Our domain grows. Darkness is truth."

The remaining tendrils wavered, their dark forms seeming to vibrate and fluctuate at such a pulse as to cause afterimages. They soon collapsed upon themselves in singularities of black mist... clouds that seemed to pulse and spike with growing unease.

And then, once again, three people felt themselves dragged down by shadow snares into the station, trapped and isolated within an infinite, searing abyss: Auron, Melisandre, and Axel's unconscious body. They were surrounded by endless laughter--only now, what might have originally been described as giggling was growing into boisterous, true laughter, the voices still countless, the sources still everywhere. As before, though they felt as if their imprisoning had persisted beyond the measure of time, each were dropped almost instantly afterward back into the world, tied up in black string-like tendrils, briers piercing their flesh; Axel, as Yuffie before him, was more puppet-like than the others due to his unconscious state. Each surged with dark power, and before they even touched the ground, their abilities were prepared to come crashing down on their allies.

As his foot touched the ground, Auron immediately began to spin, the air around him spiraling with him into a massive Tornado of razor wind. With every spin, the storm grew, spreading out.

Axel manipulated body hovered shortly above Auron in the eye of the storm, his body curling up into an awkwardly forced fetal position. Black flames grew to surround his body, their crackling heard even over the twisting gales, and when he finally spread his arms wide, the fiery Explosion rushed outward. And yet, rather than destroy Auron's own attack, the inferno fused with it, creating a roaring conflagration of blazing obsidian that expanded to cover the entire station.

After passing over, burning and tearing at all those within, the hellish maelstrom stopped just at the station's edge, acting as a searing barrier. Any that drew too close to the edge would get burned and ripped once again, but it would not prevent people from falling off, either.

The strings on the two men let loose, and Axel's body collapsed once again, falling on top of Auron.

As for the sorceress...

She stood near the center, her shoulders hunched, her arms curled in front of her as trying to hold something together. The sprawling tattoos of her face that seemed to travel down her body began to radiate light, and her body trembled, vibrating, shifting through space as if her very existence were growing weak. A growl came from deep within her throat, but it was deeper than usual, more masculine, pained. Finally...

... her body shifted. Every inch of her body, clothes and all, refracted and flipped around, changing shape, color, texture. When the process was done, the person who remained was significantly... different. There stood a male, much shorter even at six foot tall, with sandy brown hair and oak-brown eyes. He wore black running shoes, blue jeans, and a white button-up with blue pin-stripes, its sleeves rolled up past his elbows. Though the man was wearing oddly casual attire for the scene, his face was unmistakably familiar--because it was identical to Kyle's.

As the manipulating tendrils finally pulled away, all of bleak reality suddenly roared in the abomination's rage.

User Image

The man cringed.

"s**t."

Terrible, soul-piercing shrieking erupted from every metaphysical atom in the station as a particularly powerful blast of black lightning struck Ajora, forcing him to stumble backward and fall to one knee.

The rest of the storm--the Pressure Tempest and Black Lightning--persisted.

[[ Auron used Tornado!
Axel used Explosion!
Melisandre used... Bad Luck Shapeshift???

For the Auron+Axel Hellfire Tornado Combo: Everyone takes 12 raw damage. Use an average of DEF and RES to determine damage instead of just one or the other.

Dani’s Pressure Tempest continues. Everyone takes 6 MAG this turn.

Black Storm – Same as last time. Roll 1-3 instead; if 1, you’re hit for 5 MAG, but if 2-3, you luck out and don’t get hit. Also, this round, if you've been knocked off, you don't need to roll.

Also, for clarity about the Station Size:

The following are all vaguely rounded estimates for ease.
The station is roughly 60 meters (200 feet) wide.
It is roughly 190 meters (620 feet) around.
That means the tendrils are roughly 13 meters (40 feet) apart.

And the tendrils are lost behind the wall of tornado-fire.

[Amy ; Jenny : Louis’ Heart : Station of Awakening ]

The time mage hissed as Bobbi turned against them, the limit break interrupting her concentration and Stopping her. The next few attacks tore away at her resistance, and before she could even breathe, a dark scythe came from nowhere, striking her in her side.

Matthew's cure-all breeze was helping, but it wasn't enough. She was nearing her own limit, as things progressed.

Trying to focus herself, she unwound James' Addle after his explosion, but when the Darkness struck out and causing a fiery tornado (she would not blame Auron and Axel, and would not even tie it to them), she struggled to keep her stance.

Ajora's sudden revelation was startling, but not important. Her team was important. So she pushed herself to continue playing Haste, making sure everyone could keep up.

Amy's own frustrations were beginning to peak. She was one mage--she couldn't keep up with all of this! Dawn ripped right in front of her, all of these attacks, Bobbi turning against them momentarily--

--people were falling, and she needed to get them back up. So she came up with a plan. Starting her own Raise on Yuffie's unconscious body, Jenny's Haste allowed her to finish early, and she turned toward Dawn, magic at the ready.

"Dawn! Do you have a healing dance? Or something I can combine with to hit everyone?!"

[Dawn : Louis' Heart : Station of Awakening]

After Dawn started casting her Raise on Yuffie, the events after were a blur. She felt the healing energy of Amy's Cure wash over her, then the she felt something like a shiver at the base of her throat. Afterwards, she was pulled into a void of darkness.

The dancer's heart was heavy as the voices cried out, but a single one brought a tear to her eye.

'Krystal...'

She felt herself return to the station, floating, as her feet began to dance again. Though this time was different. It wasn't her. She felt all her energy swirl around like a mist and surround Bobbi.

"No..." she said as her feet touched the station, then she collapsed to her knees. Her energy practically gone after the attempted Raise and the Aura given to Bobbi.

Afterwards, Bobbi's limit break froze them over. She let out a small cry as the frozen rain fell onto her back. Followed by the combined attack of Auron and Axel. She felt as if she would be passing her breaking point if it wasn't for the gentle healing that Mathy gave everyone only moments before.

Dawn looked up at Amy as she spoke and only nodded as she used her wings to stand up right.

"I do. I'll give you all I have. Let's make it worth it." she whispered as she slowly moved her feet in the movements of her White Dance. However, left her magic open for aid to allow Amy the ability to manipulate the effect.

With a wave of her hand, Amy added her most powerful healing spell available to Dawn's dance--Curaga. And while it was downgraded to Cura, she could feel the energy drain away for something greater.

So, in their teamwork, not only was everyone blessed with Regen, but they could feel Cura easing their wounds significantly.

[[ Cura-All - Everyone is instantly healed for 6 CON.

Regen-All - Gives 1 CON every turn Dawn dances.

Total regen this post: 7 CON. ]]

[ Joe : Louis' Heart : Endgame ]

Joe simply laughed as the fiery beam shot towards him, a murky, distorted sheen forming around his body.

"Oh, a gift!? How thoughtful of you! But unfortunately..."

He simply stood as the flame ray hit him, the flames not even touching him as the spell was absorbed into nothing.

"...but I am afraid that your boon is needed elsewhere, puppet!"

Sneering beneath his helm, a portal opened up instantly in the air around him, aimed precisely at one of the remaining tendrils. In an instant, Chaos' spell burst out of it, scathing the irritant in flame.

As soon as he finished, the bombardment started. Magical blasts from a controlled Yuffie. Ice storms from a mind controlled Bobbi. A firestorm from the entity's puppeteer trick. Continued storms of lightning and pressure from above.

He endured and dodged them all, not even the hex from earlier slowing him down as much as it should. Or maybe it was and he just couldn't notice. The power of the cosmos was an intoxicating thing.

Letting his weapon hover in an Ochs guard near him, he returned to jeering at the dark knight.

"Now, how to repay you for that? Oh I know, let us end the charade of your many undeserved gifts!"

In both of his hands, anti-magical energy coalesced into phantasmal claws that screeched in hunger. They lingered on him for the briefest of moments before shooting out towards the dark knight, rending every buff he had accumulated so far to nothing.

Actions/Relevant Abilities This Round:

  • Reflect (Enchantment Version)
  • Mirror Portal: While in Trance with Atomos, Joe can create portals that allow him to specially target reflected spells. Limited to spells specifically targeting him, so only Nick's Firaga Beam was affected this round.
  • Telekinetic Weapon: As described previously. This round it's doing little but blocking off a line of attack.
  • Dispell 2x: Two Dispell spells is the mod-approved number to get rid of all those nasty, unneeded Chaos buffs.
  • Buffs Active: Faith, Bravery, Haste, auto-Float, auto-G-Strike.

[Joseph: Louis' Heart: Station of Awakening]

Pain and relief. It seemed to be a recurring pattern when he did get hit. Ice, 'lightning', fire, it all struck him but healing followed shortly after.

Not that it quite mattered to his current state. He was still 'off', and the 'up and down' was making him a little nauseous. Okay, really nauseous, but he didn't really have time to go be sick at the moment.

No, he now had to find a new target, as the tendrils were now out of sight thanks to the damn puppeteering of the Dark Entity, the tornado of fire obscuring them. So he could choose the dark 'cloud', the 'chaotic' b*****d, or...was that another ******** Ajora?

The male shook his head slightly. He...couldn't deal with that right now. Instead he went back to his 'swaying' and threw his staff pieces(once again, infused with light with each toss), sending the pieces flying at Chaos repeatedly. Same tactic, different target, but it was an effective tactic.

Oh look, 4 attacks at Nich.
Current buffs: Bravery(turn 2), Shellra(turn 1), Regen(turn 1), Haste(from Jenny)
