Azura's attention was drawn to Alisa, who finally returned to everyone's relief. Though the silver-haired one next to her was a complete mystery to her. She seemed nice, and rather energetic, but wasn't that Alisa's typical look? So why did she appear so gloomy? Then came the unexpected news of Alisa and the stranger's news, which came off...a little strange, not to mention sudden. Not long ago she was talking up a storm, having enjoyable conversations with Tifa, but now, she was hardly cheerful for someone who became engaged. She would have to find out later, when the opportunity came along. For now, she didn't want to cause anymore trouble. "I wasn't informed of that news either. It's a little strange...isn't it? " She could also be overly paranoid, Azura didn't easily trust everyone she met. It was just strange, when she thought about it all together, and how strange Alisa was acting. Something was obviously off with her.
L'Arachel meanwhile, seemed a little puzzled at first as she was greeted by the blonde pointy-eared young woman. "...Oh!..It's you, Ephraim said you helped me..Thank you, for everything! I'm sorry to have troubled you." She only thought she healed her, she was completely unaware of the poison that factored into her injurie's by the Reaper.

Since the time she was brought in, a certain precious collie sat there in the bed where Rinoa was asleep. It seemed to be growing impatient, though. Waiting for her to wake up was taking to long for a hungry Angelo! Finally, it sat up, licking at her face ....until she woke up, but not without adding a quiet little bark to really be sure she woke her up. At long last, Rinoa's brown eyes opened to stare up at the big cute puppy eyes of Angelo, who perked up it's ears happily.
"Angelo..? " She blinked, trying to focus a little better. "...Gosh..I feel like I've been asleep forever.." She was so sleepy still, over sleeping had it's downfalls upon waking up sometimes! "I'm so sorry, you must be hungry! " She practically threw herself out of the bed, nearly stumbling on the blanket that wrapped around her boot in the process! "Ah!" She managed to grab onto the night stand beside her bed, bracing herself before making a complete embarrassing fall to the floor.
As she stood there, regaining her balance, she began to notice the unfamiliarity of the room she was in. "...? Where are we? " She noticed to the side of the door, there leaning against the wall was her Shooting Star, but...why did she not recognize this place at all? She was certainly not being held captive somewhere, otherwise she would be disarmed, and Angelo would likely not be there! Not to mention, the extremely soft bed she previously slept in for so long. She was soo confused! Still, she quickly headed over, taking hold of the Shooting Star, before finally making her way to the door and opening it slowly. "..................???" ....Yes, she was even more confused now. A fairly long hallway, with so many doors. Did she fall asleep at an INN at some point and forget about it? ...What else could this be? She started to walk in a slow, cautious pace as she neared the corner, where the balcony that over looked into the living room was filled with....many unfamiliar faces! So this must of been how it felt to be Squall, completely silent and unsure what to say!

Claude von Riegan

"Ignorance breeds discrimination. Whether you look inside the bottle or outside of it... If you really look, all you'll find are people you can get along with, if you only try.
That's why I wanna bust open that lid, which is keeping us locked inside. Or destroy the bottle entirely."

User Image

"Uh, hey, 'scuse me."
"S-sorry, I have to be doing something... I'm sure you're confused. Just... ask the people in the living room." With a respectful bow, Alisa hurried past the young man, shuffling past Rinoa on her way down the stairs and quickly out the door, attempting not to be noticed.
"...All right, good talk. No please, you have a nice day." The green eyes on the dark-skinned man seemed ceaseless to one trained enough to look for it, though they were subtly so. Constantly scanning every inch of his surroundings, as though he were looking for the slightest cracks he could take advantage of if the demand arose. Was that what he was looking for specifically? Well... not exactly. But it was good to have contingencies, that much he knew. He also didn't fail to notice the ears on the young woman who just hurriedly shuffled past him. Her hair certainly wasn't any shade of green, though... and he had a feeling, if those ears were indicative of what he would assume, he would have a vague idea of who he had been addressing. Strange...
...Her garb was also quite peculiar. ...For what garb she did wear. Speaking of peculiar, there was another bizarrely-dressed young woman in front of him. What was with the wing pattern on the back of her shirt? Well, it was cute, either way. But it didn't look like an outfit from any land he was aware of. And it was his job to know these sorts of things. She also looked sufficiently bewildered, so she may be able to confirm his suspicions. Keep it vague, Claude. He took a few steps forward, yawning. "Sheesh, I feel like I've been asleep for five years. Funny story actually, I have a friend who did sleep that long. True story... how about you? Sleepy?" The man was certainly pleasantly-spoken, though to someone who looked closely enough--very closely--the casual, friendly smile he wore didn't reach his eyes. It was fake. Just like his pleasantness. But Rinoa wouldn't notice that. It was unlikely anyone here would. "So, where are you from? Fodlan?" He watched her reaction closely, and the reaction she gave was exactly what he expected. Confusion. "Right... Don't worry about it." Even the most sheltered person from Brigid, Almyra--wherever--they would know Fodlan, especially after the war. So what was the most logical explanation, then? That he had been magicked off to some other world? ...He let out a subtle sigh through his nose. Until proven otherwise, that seemed to be the best theory he had. His eyes left the brown eyes of the young woman before him, continuing to scan the room around him, and below him. "..." Well, wherever he was, he had been whisked here alongside Failnaught--the wicked-looking bow on his back--so it could have been much worse. But it really should have been better...
"Claude, by the way. My name." It wasn't. But it worked in Fodlan. And it would work here. In the event she gave her own name, he'd nod politely, while continuing to rack his brain behind his façade. What sort of name was Rinoa? ...Well, it was a nice enough name. But he hadn't heard of a name like that before. Which seemed to corroborate the information he had gathered so far. "...Well, hey, we aren't getting any answers here acting polite, right? Might as well go introduce ourselves. I have a feeling we might be sticking around longer than we'd like..." He muttered that last bit mostly to himself, making his way downstairs, whether or not she followed.
"Well, hey there, strangers." Claude put a hand to his hip. "This isn't like most attempted kidnappings I've been in. You were kind enough to give me a bed! How thoughtful."

"..." Ephraim eyed the newcomer warily. Claude caught that look. It was the same look Byleth gave him so long ago. Ephraim saw through his façade, didn't he... Oh well. Pointing it out would turn Ephraim into the bad guy, and Claude could leverage that if necessary. "It's not a kidnapping. You're-"
"In another world, right? Yeah, put that one together already." His faux smile widened. "Yeah, I would've recognized this architecture if it were native to my own world. And even if I didn't, there are too many inconsistencies..." The most damning was that girl with the pointed ears. There was only one group with that quality in his world...
"You put things together rather quickly!"
"Oh, it's nothing special. Just took a guess. Nothing more." His eyes continued to scan the room and the people around him--subtly. "So what's the deal? Guessing I'm not the only outlander. And I'm guessing we're here for some reason."
"Here, in this world? Don't know." Cloud said, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall. "But here, in this mansion? You're free to stay here if you choose to, but you have to pull your weight if you do. Same goes for you." He said that last part towards Rinoa, whether or not she chose to join them. "We're gonna have a lot of enemies soon, and we need to have the manpower to deal with that."
"..." Claude nodded in understanding. So, stay here, in this... mansion. Interesting proposal. He should at least say yes for now, he decided. If a better opportunity came, he could take it, as long as it wasn't too morally objectionable. "Works for me. I don't like to be in anyone's debt anyway." He turned his head slightly, to address everyone there. "Name's Claude," it wasn't. "Looking forward to meeting you all." he wasn't. "And learning more about you, and what you can do." That was perhaps the first time he had been honest since awakening in this strange new world. "Anyway, all this fun has left me starving. How about a feast? Who all can cook?" Typical Claude, always jumping at the chance for a feast and celebration. "It can be a fun opportunity for us all to get to know each other. And celebrate the occasion. It's not often you get to have a cross-world pow-wow. Gotta take it while you can."
"..." Ephraim didn't suppose this person had ill intent per se, but there was certainly something he was hiding. Or perhaps a lot he was hiding. He couldn't exactly fault him for that, though. It was natural not to be completely forthcoming with strangers, especially in this strange circumstance. Still, he didn't know how much he could trust this man. For as lax and carefree as he appeared on the surface, there was the spark of intelligence in his eyes, and Ephraim would bet there was a lot more beneath the surface. Quite the enigma... Time would tell how trustworthy he would be.

Startled by the suddenness of the blonde haired woman rushing past her, Rinoa paused for a moment. This place was certainly busy, but not a single face was one she recognized. It wasn't actually until she heard the next voice speaking behind her, that she even realized anyone was there. She was focused so much of the living room area, where it seemed most people were gathered, she didn't realize anyone was behind her. "O-oh..! I didn't see you there.." She put a hand over Angelo's head, giving her a gentle pet, as if to keep her calm, her way of telling Angelo it was safe, at least for now! "I thought the same thing! Even after waking up moments ago, I still feel so sleepy. Though it feels as if I slept for longer then I would like. How strange it is we've both experienced this..." She smiled, while she may of been incredibly confused as to what was going on, she was still cheerful, talkative Rinoa! "A friend who stayed asleep for five years, huh. I could use a few tips on how it is best to wake up then. " She added playfully.
"Nice to meet you, Claude. I'm Rinoa...and this is my partner, Angelo. " She gave Angelo another gentle pet, before nodding to him. "Okay.." Answers were something they both needed, though it seemed Rinoa was much slower when it came to figuring the situation out, it never crossed her mind that she was thrown into a whole different world, she definitely wouldn't be so calm had she suspected that!
"...Um, excuse me..! " Rinoa stepped forward. ".....Another world??" What did she even think a whole other world would look like? It was a thought that never actually crossed her mind once, it was hard to believe, if this was true, this world didn't look all that different then her own, really. Probably why it never registered to her before she heard the startling news. "....Is this some kind of joke? ..I woke up in a completely strange place, filled with.... people I don't know....and now I'm to believe I'm stuck in another world?! " Rinoa was actually worried now, if it was true...then by the looks of it, she was completely alone with no one she knew. It was hardly the most comforting feeling. That smile she had only moments ago, was now a look of worry. There was a lot of things to factor into this, sure, they were offered a place to stay, but how did they 'pull their weight' when she had none of this worlds currency to even buy anything. ...or so she thought, oh how puzzling this would soon become when she realized it was the same. ".....What exactly do we need to do? ...." Gosh, that quiet one, leaning against the wall like that and talking with barely any worry or emotion in his voice, he reminded her of Squall a little to much. "...More enemies, too? This news just continues to get better.." He didn't sugar coat anything, ether. Pull your weight, be ready to fight enemies, yeah. This was looking great. "...Did you...by chance..find anyone with brown hair, wearing black leather pants, and a fur-lined leather black jacket? " It felt wrong, selfish even to hope they would have said yes, and that he was in another room sleeping like so many other's probably still were. But at the same time, did she really want him in some crazy new world she knew nothing about? Who knew just how dangerous it was. Still...she couldn't stand the thought of being away from him.

Cloud Strife

"All right everyone, let's mosey."

User Image

"Yeah, another world." Cloud said flatly, as though he were explaining the most obvious thing in the world.
"Hey, relax," Claude said in a defusing voice. "Can't blame the girl for being a bit frazzled. Not exactly a daily occurrence where she's from, I imagine." Or where he was from, or most people, he assumed.
"...The place you're at is called Midgar. It's the biggest city in the world. Sound familiar to you?" It certainly wasn't Esthar, the biggest city of her world. "It's not a joke. All you have to do is be ready to fight when I need fighters. Or, if you can't fight, I don't know... cook? Clean? Something. I mean, this place wasn't cheap. I'm not a charity. I'd like something in return for letting you all stay here, rent-free." It wasn't unreasonable, but he could stand to say it in a kinder way, perhaps. "...Don't think so."
"...No, I we didn't find anyone matching that description at the Tear." Ephraim explained at least somewhat more politely. "But, my... comrade, L'Arachel--she came to this world after myself, and I was in the initial wave of people who came here, along with you and the others who were unconscious. So, it's possible the one you're looking for will come here, too." Comrade. Yes. What a flattering way to describe the girl alongside him. But the proper term to describe her seemed to not come to his mind, for whatever reason. How should he refer to her? Friend? Were they friends? ...Were they more? ...Er, no. Of course not more. L'Arachel was clearly not fond of him in that way. ...Totally...
"...So, Rinoa, you could go searching for your... boyfriend? Boyfriend, probably. You could, and you could spend months searching the world over and over. But if you want my advice, well, thanks for asking. This place seems to be a congregation of outlanders, like you and I. If you want the best chance of finding him, it would probably be staying here, and letting him find you." It was her call if she listened to his advice, of course. He just figured he'd give it. "Even if he's some broody anti-social, he'll likely learn about this place, and he'll probably assume you're here." He glanced away from her after that. "Also, did you seriously just call that girl standing way too close to you your "comrade"? I can tell you have a keen intuition with the fairer sex."
"...I... understand women perfectly fine." A bigger lie was probably never told. "I have a twin sister, after all." That was true, and he did understand Eirika incredibly well. But that may have been part of the reason he was so bad with women, perhaps..
"Uh-huh. My mistake." Claude did not sound entirely convinced...
"...Anyway... You're free to stay here if you want to. You're not a captive here. Walk out the door if you want to. But it'll be difficult getting by in this world without a roof over your head." It helped she did have some money, and it happened to be the same kind of money this world took. But it would only last so long.

Rinoa crossed her arms, shooting a glare in Clouds direction. "Oh, I feel better already..Such great company to look forward to! " This must of been this guys 'nice' side. "...I will look forward to your company, though. At least your nice to me!" She said to Claude, uncrossing her arms. "Both myself and Angelo here can fight, i'm best with magic, though I can use this for long range if I for any reason, am unable to use magic. " Silence and all! She informed the team, before turning to look into the direction of Ephraim, the teal-haired one! "...I see..." Disappointed? That was clear not only in her voice, but the small frown she didn't bother hiding. "... His name is Squall.." She began to say. "If he's out there..." She sighed, he would be completely lost. Not exactly the best thing in the world in a place nether of them knew much about. She returned her attention back to Claude as he began to spoke, and while she didn't like the idea of sitting back while the possibility was that Squall may be in this world somewhere lost, fighting or even hurt, but at the same time..She didn't know at all if he was in fact in this world at all. "..I hate the idea of not looking for him, but...I suppose you are right...If word spreads fast enough about this place, he should find it..." She had to convince herself that, really, but for now, she would stay put.."Thank you.." She said to him again, only to once again, turn to the broody one. "What is the best way to go about making money here? "

That's why I wanna bust open that lid, which is keeping us locked inside. Or destroy the bottle entirely."

"Yeah, well, us outsiders have to stick together and all." Claude responded with a friendly wink. Yes, being an outsider... that was something Claude was very familiar with. Despite being from an entirely different world here, he was still less of an outsider here than at times in his life in his own world. It was a difficult childhood he had been through, to put it lightly. But that was what turned him into the man he was, with the ideals he had.
"...Your dog fights?" Cloud remarked rather incredulously. "I don't think you're a very good pet owner..." He muttered that mostly to himself.
"Well, I have a wyvern and he can fight. What's the big deal?"
"...That's a bit different." Cloud responded blankly. As if a dog was even slightly comparable to a wyvern in this context!
"By the way, Rinoa, can you Warp? ...Send allies to faraway places? No?" He sighed slightly. "That made life a lot easier sometimes in the past. Guess magic's different between our worlds." Would be nice to have a Lysithea right about now. Her Warping ability along with her overwhelming magic power, she was certainly a nice ally to have... and a friend. ...He would really need to learn his comrades' abilities if he wanted to provide his own tactics to help out in battle. ...And schemes, of course. "Squall, eh. Even his name sounds broody." Claude remarked playfully.
"Believe in him. If you're both from a world of fighting, I assume he can fend for himself. If something goes awry, we're likely to find out." Ephraim could understand her worry--especially after he found L'Arachel in the state she was in. But... "Acting rashly and putting yourself in danger would only make the situation worse regardless. I can't speak for this person, but I assume he wouldn't want you endangering yourself."
"Would only make more trouble for him anyway. And I doubt you want him coming and saving you." Yes, oh what a terrible fate that would be for poor Rinoa. The absolute horror.
Putting a hand to his head, Claude sighed slightly. "You people really don't understand women very well..." Obviously, every woman was different. Not all wanted to be saved. But just seeing Rinoa's expression once that was brought up... yeah.
"Anyway... you don't need to worry about money for right now. Just get situated. We have food and everything here. Unprepared food, but, fingers crossed someone who knows how to cook turns up eventually." Fighting skill was nice and all, but he'd gladly take a maid over a warrior for their next outlander...

Rinoa grinned, what a relief it was that not -everyone- was so rude like the blonde with the big sword! "Excuse me?! Angelo is very capable in battle, would you like to test how GOOD of a pet owner I am?? " She was very insulted, to be basically called a bad pet owner! What a big jerk! "Hmph..you'll see, and when you do, you will apologize for that statement. " Come the next battle they came across, he would see exactly what they were able to do together! Looking away from Cloud, she turned to Claude. "I wish! That would be useful for anyone.." At what he said next, Rinoa laughed softly. "He is, actually exactly that. Though my Squall isn't quite as bad as meanie over there..! " She shot another glare in Cloud's direction. They were going to be best friends! "My Squall can seem cold or distant sometimes, but he cares about his friends more then anything. There isn't anything he wouldn't do to protect those he's close to. In fact, he jumped out into space just to save me.." That may confuse them, space travel was probably not a thing in Claude's world, though surprisingly, it was in this, with the help of Cid's rocket ship. She sighed softly, she may of drifted into her Squall-dreamy-state for a moment there.Silly Rinoa. "..Um..I can't say i'm some kind of expert, but I can make simple things..If Zell was here, you would be eating nothing but hot dogs! " Did they even know what that was? The horrified look on the blue-haired womans face said the answer was likely a big no! Oops. "Um, it's not really a dog...it's just called that for some very odd reason...I've never understood it myself. I'm sorry if I scared you!" She said with a small, nervous laugh. Last thing she wanted them to think of is people eating dogs in her world like it seemed Azura there did.

Cloud Strife

"All right everyone, let's mosey."

User Image

"...You wanting to fight? There's a training room in this building. We can go at it right now." Cloud was certainly not one to back down from an apparent challenge, though he doubted she would actually want to follow through on that.
"...Speaking of, I would like to see that room myself," Ephraim said aloud, glancing in the direction it was relative to where he stood. "If I'm to be in this world for the foreseeable future, it would be good for me to hone my abilities."
"Sheesh, "hone your abilities"? A bit severe, don't you think?"
"It isn't exactly a joking matter. If I'm not prepared, everyone else could suffer for it..." Especially after he had been the victor of their little tournament, he felt even more pressure to be at his best. He needed to be able to protect his allies--this much he knew. Ephraim glanced at Azura momentarily. Now would be a great opportunity to have their promised sparring match, but she may have still been a bit put off from that sordid affair with those gods. So, he recognized now was likely not the best time. So he turned, making his way towards the training room on his own. He had heard it was capable of running simulations, which seemed a bit too fantastic to believe, but with the technology he had seen in this world, he supposed it wasn't that farfetched.
"Someone has a serious case of "the world's on my shoulders" syndrome." Not that it really mattered much to him. If anything, he'd prefer his apparent allies work to strengthen themselves. He'd prefer to avoid losing if he could help it. "...Space, huh. That is pretty crazy." It was surprising to hear, especially since he hadn't seen the technology this world had to offer, but he was good about not letting things shock him too much. ...Sometimes.
"Cloud!" The door was flung open as Zack hurried in, followed closely by Aerith. "There's something you need to know... Just, stay calm." Cloud gave them a questioning look, as he stepped off the wall...

"What?! Where is he? I'll find him!" So much for staying calm, as Cloud began to stomp towards the door, reaching for Ultima Weapon as he did.
"Hey, hey, calm down!" Zack stepped in front of him, putting a hand to his chest to keep him from continuing. "Did you hear us? He has some kind of amnesia, and-"
"I don't give a damn if he's paralyzed from the waist down!"
"Cloud, I understand how you feel, but-"
"You don't understand! You can't!"
"He betrayed me, too!"
"He KILLED MY MOM!" Zack grunted, going silent for a moment. "...The only person I had in this world for a long time. She's gone. Because of him..."
"...Cloud." Zack looked at the man averting his gaze sincerely. "...He was my friend."
"..." Cloud turned his gaze, looking Zack dead in the eye. "...So was I." He said seriously. "Don't try to get in my way. I will never forgive him. I'll kill him as many times as he comes back. I don't care if he remembers what he did. I don't care if he tries to atone. He can never make up for what he did."
"...People can change."
"...I don't care." An uncomfortable silence swept over the room for several moments.
"...So, nice weather, huh?" Claude put his hands behind his head in a rather carefree manner, intending to break up the tension. "Say, Zack, Aerith, don't suppose either of you are any good at cooking? I'd really like to prepare a feast for everyone. Maybe everyone will feel a little less grumpy when we're all full." "Everyone" probably referred to a very specific someone. "...Not great cooks either, huh? Man, this group is doomed..." So many warriors, and so few cooks. What were they going to do?
Meanwhile, as Ephraim came into the rather large training room, he saw the impressive room was incredibly spacious, and it stretched several stories high. This seemed to be to allow the simulated reality around the user to seem more realistic, and allow more movement. "Incredible..." He said to himself as he looked around the room. He may get very used to this place, if the simulations really were accurate to a real battle--not to mention it was a great place to spar with actual people and not risk breaking anything. Now he just needed to find the control panel, and... figure out how to work it. It couldn't be that difficult, right?

"......" Gosh, she really didn't feel up to this so called training right now, she did only just wake up a short time ago! "...Don't think for a second i'm scared, because i'm not! I just don't feel up to it right now, I only just woke up a short time ago. I'm still not at one hundred percent. After all, I'm not exactly new to training rooms. I've taken down live monsters in our own training area, i'll have you know! Big ones! Can you take down a giant dinosaur? " She had to throw that in, she had to make SURE he didn't think she was scared and only making excuses!

Aerith stepped to the middle of the doorway, in case Cloud decided to make his way around Zack for his escape. "Cloud..I was afraid at first when I saw him, but when I saw that look in his eyes, so lost and confused..I knew there was hope for him. Hope that maybe, we can all put the past behind us, no matter how painful it may be. If anyone should be to blame, for everything, it should be Hojo. Everything he's done is all due to that man..Sephiroth has been a victim of terrible experiments since before he was born.." She knew he knew that, but to prove her point, she just had to remind him, hoping to help him see better. "..I want to believe that with this loss of memory, he can start over. " Wasn't it better to try? "...If we start attacking him...how is that really helping us? How will that help you? ..It will only make him our enemy again, is that what you want? To constantly worry where he might show, and who he might take away next? " She didn't exactly want to be on his bad side, ether...for obvious reasons!
Aerith turned to Claude, he must of been very hungry to be bringing up food at a time like this.Or was it exactly the reason he would bring up something like this? ...The more she thought about it, she started to understand what he was trying to do. "..I'm sorry, I may be a little rusty.." Something she was probably going to have to really learn, Tifa couldn't do it on her own! "I should get Tifa..so we can all be together..It has been a long day, isn't it best to relax right now? Cloud....you will stay here with us, won't you? " As if she and Zack would let him escape, regardless!

Cloud Strife

"All right everyone, let's mosey."

"A victim?!" Aerith might be disappointed that her words didn't have the calming effect she might hope they would. "No. He's not any sort of victim. Any claim to being a victim he had was burned away with my home. I don't care if he was manipulated, if he was raised poorly, if he was used--it doesn't matter. We all have a choice. He had a choice. He chose to submit to Jenova and become a pawn, if that's what you want to call him. Maybe he didn't choose to be experimented on and used by Shinra, but he damn sure chose Jenova. And guess what? All our lives have been ruined by Shinra in different ways. That's not an excuse. It's never been an excuse." Clearly, Cloud had a very hard opinion on this matter. He wasn't extremely surprised that Zack and Aerith of all people would try to help Sephiroth if they could, but he would not just stand there and let Aerith call him a victim. That was INSULTING. "My mother was a victim. Tifa's father was a victim. All the people in Nibelheim, they were victims. Sephiroth is NOT a VICTIM." He said through clenched teeth, sounding perhaps more angry than Zack or Aerith may had ever seen him. "Make him our enemy again? He never stopped being our enemy. He'll never stop being my enemy. That he's alive when so many other people are dead is insulting. He doesn't deserve to start over." Batting Zack's hand off his chest, Cloud turned away. "Tifa will agree with me." He said severely, not facing Aerith as he said it. "Everyone else will. You two are too soft. But even if the others didn't... Tifa will agree with me. We lost everything... and he laughed. He... laughed." His fists tightened so much that, had he not been wearing gloves, he might draw blood with his fingernails. "You can make excuses all you want, pretend he's not to blame for his own actions and lie to yourself. But do not call him a victim. He chose his path." Not the beginning of his path, but the end. He chose it. Madness though it may have been, he was still responsible for his own actions.

"It may not be my place to say, but I can understand how Cloud feels, I would not want the one responsible for my family's death to wander free. It sounds to me like, this Sephiroth, is responsible for many loses. Someone like that can never change, it's easy to pretend that they've changed, it's easy to act, but there will be a day his blood stained hands will only want more on them. I would never trust a person like that.." She knew what deranged murderous men were like, after all. "It's only a matter of time before the memories he lost return to him, and when he does...he could be even worse then he was the last time you encountered him...Do you believe in him so much, to risk the lives of so many others by allowing this person to walk freely? " She asked that part to Zack and Aerith..

"If there were none who speak of hope, there would only be despair left in our world.
To protect the people who so loved the peace that my sister wanted...
I WILL NOT FAIL!"

"At least someone has their head on right..." Cloud muttered in response to what Azura said. She hadn't even been victimized by Sephiroth, but clearly she wasn't going to let sentiment skew her view on this.
"...Can I speak?" A voice came from atop the stairs, as a navy-blue haired young man stood there. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop..." Having been another who had been unconscious at the Tear, he came here to seek answers just as Claude and Rinoa had, but had come to stand at the top of the staircase right when this began.
Descending the stairs, the outlander Exalt would speak. "I know what it's like to be consumed by vengeance..." He began earnestly. "My sister, Emmeryn--she gave her life to protect her ideals, and to protect me from a choice where both answers were wrong. Her death was caused by a horrible man, and I became so consumed by the idea of vengeance that I cut down legions of men who were forced to work beneath him. Men and women who hated the war and death just as much as me, and who didn't want to oppose me. I slaughtered them without a second thought, seeking some justice for my sister's death. When at last I faced down their commander, I took his life, too. In his dying breath, he pleaded with me to spare his men. But by then, there were no men left to spare. I stood there surrounded by death and misery, and the blood I stained my hands with made me no greater than the Mad King who had killed my sister. ...And still, I couldn't shake the desire for revenge, even with that empty feeling inside of me. If not for my closest friend, I may very well have continued down that path, and descended deeper into that desire for blood. She pulled me out of the darkest, lowest point in my life, and we stopped the Mad King. Not for vengeance, but to end the war that our people collectively hated. To uphold my sister's ideals." He faced Cloud, holding a serious expression. "I would not dare to speak for your mother, friend. That isn't my place. But I know that if I had continued down the path of vengeance and bloodshed, I could never face my sister again once my life met its end, on some godforsaken battlefield. Throwing my life away, and failing to uphold her ideals--all in the name of finding some supposed justice in her name. That would do nothing except fill her heart with grief." He didn't know Cloud, obviously, and he certainly didn't know his mother. But he would be surprised if he learned any competent parent would want their child to obsess over revenge in their name, to the point it could push everyone else away and ruin them.

"...And this Mad King of yours. If you met him again, after you stopped him the first time, would you let him live? Would you just be happy to know he's alive, and your sister isn't?"
"...I did meet him again." Chrom's eyes narrowed slightly. "It brought me no joy to see him again. But the world was in peril. He wanted me to put an end to him, but instead of my sword, I extended my hand to him. I asked him to join me and protect the world, and though it took some convincing, he did. I decided to put my hatred behind me, and look forward to the future instead of wasting away in the past. And it was together that we defeated that which threatened our world." He would've never imagined it shortly after Emmeryn had died, but Gangrel had joined him and helped him stop Grima. It didn't make up for what he had done before, but maybe it didn't need to. Maybe life wasn't all about ensuring everyone got exactly what was coming to them. Maybe you just had to do the best with what you were given.
Cloud turned away, shaking his head. "Good for you. But I'm not some saint. And I'm not planning to change that." He was getting more and more frustrated the more he spoke and heard about this. So, he decided to distance himself from the situation, turning and walking up the stairs, towards his room. He wouldn't go hunting Sephiroth--not right now, at least. But that didn't mean he'd just chat merrily with him in the event he saw him. Amnesia or no, it was still Sephiroth. It was still Sephiroth...
"...Fun topic." Claude said with a sigh. What a great introduction to living here for himself, Rinoa, and Chrom. "It's true that having a bad childhood doesn't excuse terrible actions, especially if there's no greater good behind those actions. But it's also true that people can change. All it really comes down to is that life isn't black and white. There's far too much grey to assert that either viewpoint applies universally." Neither viewpoint was absolutely correct in his opinion, and really, rare were the occasions where there was an absolutely correct answer. Life was sadly not so simple. "So, can you cook?"
"...Er, no, I'm not very talented at that."
Claude let out a long sigh. "This day just keeps getting worse..."

....This was beginning to feel so uncomfortable, there was far to much tension in the air, and everyone just seemed kind of down. "....." They needed Selphie, she could save the group from uncomfortable silence! ....If only she was here. "...Um, so..this Sephiroth person...What does he look like? I would like to stay on good terms with this person if I ever run into him.." By the way Cloud made him sound, he didn't sound like someone she wanted to run into, let alone get on the bad side of. The likely hood of running into him was probably pretty slim, but it was also better to be safe then sorry later. Listening to Aerith as she briefly explained Sephiroth's most obvious, eye-catching things about him, including the masamune, Rinoa nodded. "Eight foot sword..?! How does anyone even hold something like that? " This was one of those she needed to see it to believe it, but even then she probably didn't want to see him. It would be her luck that he regains his memories the moment she runs into him, and slaughters the city!

"Probably overcompensating for something," Claude said, apparently deciding to go for the lowest-hanging fruit there ever was in terms of jokes. "Actually it isn't that hard, if you temper the metal right. And depending on the material used to forge the weapon... I mean, it's not that much different than a spear, theoretically. Would be more awkward since you're not holding it from the middle though..." Would be more like a lance in that case, which were generally only used when mounted. To use a sword that long, you'd definitely need to be above-average in strength, at least. And typically would want to hold it two-handed Claude noticed he was kinda muttering out loud about this. "Ah, sorry. Doesn't really matter." He cleared his throat. "More importantly, Cloud. Why is he wound up so tight? Really makes me want to find his buttons and push them." That mischievous side of him from his academy days seemed to survive the terrible war he had to go through, along with the other trials. But considering it survived his terrible childhood, that shouldn't be too surprising. ...Not that anyone here knew anything about that. "In any case, I should look around this city, get better acquainted if I'm gonna be here a while. Anything I should watch out for? Is someone gonna try to pickpocket me if I go into the bad part of town?" He figured understanding the city to some extent could help him later, if he had to formulate schemes and strategies while considering the land around him. "Anyone want to be my tour guide? No?" Probably not. "Well, I'm sure I can manage." He might be a bit caught off-guard by the size and presence of Midgar, more so than he expected. It was quite the large, impressive city, needless to say.
