Anlina: But think of all the pros to buying a home of your own. heart No more flushing your money down the toilet...now you'd be investing. X3 And moving is really only a week or so of really annoying labor. If you have family and friends to help with the packing up and moving in it can go fairly quickly. I've moved twice now as a married and both times the moving-in only took one day because we had everything marked and at least five family members helping. The mamas cleaned the old house for us while the rest of us unpacked at the new house. :heartfest:

Yeah, buying a home is a great investment. I was watching House Hunters yesterday, and it was a woman in Manhattan looking for a new apt. She wanted a 2 bedroom and settled for a one bedroom because it had a door man, even though the up keep was way more expensive than the second one, which is what I would've chosen. It was a little over budget, but it was a gorgeous 3 bedroom, and the up keep was the cheapest of all three choices. I would've picked the bedroom, because I like to have room for growth ie wife and family. And after househunters was a show about how homes go up in value, which was really interesting.

i know that was really random and all cuz everyone is talking about houses and stuff.. but Matt and I are kinda in the same situation cuz now we gotta find a place to live ^^; there is this one community we really like though so we are crossing our fingers we can get a place there.
He will get there in middle of January and i wont move there until he finds a place to live (since he can live on base while house hunting)

hee, i'm random all the time, kari ^^. congrats on your move again!
ayup, moving is no fun. and yes, i am sleeping on the floor. but my new apartment is a darling. it's a one-bedroom (i wanted a two-bedroom so i can have a separate room for my home office, but those go fast) with a private balcony. it's so nice to have everything be clean and shiny and new and odor-free after having lived for a year in someone's old basement (although the old basement is twice the size and half the price of my new apartment). my first cat is getting comfortable here, although methinks he is bored due to the lack of furniture. the movers will be arriving in a week or so.
/rambles
i never really seriously considered buying a house before until i took a wrong turn into the nice houses area here. the houses are gorgeous! i'm several years away from buying a house, though. first i'm going to upgrade my furniture, and then i'ma get me a nice, white, chevy avalanche. whee!

Yay Kari! What island will you be moving to? I may or may not go to school out there, so it would be cool to hang out, yeah? Then we'll have to convince Miri to come visit us. 3nodding

Kari, you know I will still want to visit you out there. ^^
I am sooo far off from buying my own house.
Kinda funny story: Yesterday, my car DIED! I was trying to go somewhere, just to find out that I was stuck at my friends house. The battery light came on so I assumed it was the battery. I tol dmy mom, and at 7 she came with a new battery for me. But it wasnt the battery, so I had to wait till almost 11 when the tow truck finally arrived, where they pulled out these MASSIVE chains to haul my car on the back of the truck. Both of my friends couldnt stop laughing because we could most likely push my car up the incline. Turns out it needed a new timing belt, but its still kinda funny. Oh, and proof that my car = pathatic. While it was on the flat bed tow truck, it was barely taller then the cab of the truck. DX

True, very true. I hate pouring money into renting when I know I will have nothing to show for it in the end.
I also need to fix my credit before I buy a house... eating and paying rent seemed a wee bit more important than paying the credit card bill during college, so I really ruined my credit. I'm in the process of fixing it up, and I haven't checked lately, but a year and a half ago I think I needed a ridiculously huge down payment to get a reasonable mortgage... like $50,000 or something stupid like that.

my biggest bill i have right now is my student loan.. I think i still owe $11,000. But with my new job that i have, i can pay about $500/month and be done with that loan by end of next year! I have one credit card, which i just recently paid it all off i have no car payments ... but Matt and I are going to be saving up money so when we come back from hawaii, we can buy a house XD

I wish I could see the flower ankle things on somone...
cardi: That's exactly whey we're still in a basement apartment... It's relativly cheap rent, and utilities (save phone) are included. With me not working and two little girls we just can't afford a house. It's hard though 'cause I would love to have a house where everything fits and especially I would love to have a yard to let the girls go out and play in. The people we're renting form have two large dog, although they're friendly enough they're still large and kay is scared of 'em.
Kari: I'm the opposite, I recently got that last of my student loan payed off, but still have credit card bills...
