In 1985 video game sales in the United States plummeted. The nation seemed to have reach its saturation point. Then Nintendo introduced its Nintendo Entertainment System(NES), which revolutionized video games. No longer found only in arcades, Nintendo games could now be played on a home television set.
(1)The Nintendo Entertainment System used a control pad or joystick to control the action on the television screen. Nintendo released a new game, Super Mario Bros., for play on its new system.
(2)In Super Mario Bros., Luigi and Mario help the peaceful Mushroom People in their battle against the Koopa turtle tribe.
(3)Mario untiringly attempts to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser, the King of the Koopas.
(4)Super Mario Bros. sold over 2.5 million copies in its first 4 months. It generated numerous sequels, television show, magazines, fan clubs, and tie-ins.
