@ Koji: Quite a bit, actually.
The userbase of this guild's going on the decline for whatever reason, and that needs fixed asap. I've been looking into what drives people away from guilds in general (using GCD and GGN discussion threads as a starting point) and it boils into three main problems: the horrid outdated Guilds forumstyle, a lack of activity (real or perceived), or guild drama. We can't do anything about the first, and we don't have the third problem at all, but we can fix the second. But this is where we hit a roadblock - how are we supposed to stay active if less than ten people are actively posting? Are we even active then? So I figure that guild activity is linked with the number of users coming in to post.
This is where recruitment drives and contests come in. Drives encourage people to bring in more people, and the contests serve as a way to get people involved with the guild. If done right, they can also get people to hang around, talk more, get into the RPs, etc..
People don't even have to actively recruit people to support the "war effort". Some can make graphics, attention-grabbing (but still tasteful!) post styles for threads, or banners and things. Others can bump threads or advertise in their signature or post style (given the forum permits it).
But I need to know what's gonna get people to do these things, and I might as well ask directly instead of guessing and failing!
@ Sabe: Of course you come in after people ask me questions. Good news and all, but pay attention to the timing next time around.

Me too! This is...interesting. xD Now if we can kick Avatar in the booty, I'll be a pretty content girl. @ waffle: My only idea, besides asking/pleading (lol), is making a contest. Whoever gets the most people to join wins some prize. Doesn't have to be too big, of course. People who join just reference whoever got them interested. Then again, I don't know I'd you'd do that now with the few we have or after we gather some more promising newcomers. That's all. D:

@ Nariana: I had two possible plans. One was to do the recruitment drive as a contest (as you correctly mentioned), or to just open up jobs for everyone in the guild depending on what they're good at.
Contest method: guild members are PMing everyone they can get their paws on, posting links in threads of those looking for guilds, advertising in posts/sigs, or going out in towns/rally/vh hoping some take up the offer and join (...and stay!).
Jobs/Drive method: Everyone contributes something to a guild recruiting thread posted in the GGN forum. It can be banners, post styles, bumping service, or any of the other things I've mentioned. Incentives are less reward-like and more pay-like.
Depending on the results of the poll, the highest-scoring thing will be considered as the first place prize for contest mode or the pay for drive mode.
The first recruitment event will probably be the drive, because of the lack of active members. If it turns out successful and we have a bunch of people in the guild, next event will be voted on via another poll.

Hey guys. Thought I pop in during my break at work. I told Koji that I be back after the 12th and well its well over that. Can't say I'll be the most active but I'll try my best. I would also like to apologize due to the fact I just disappeared. If I knew it would be this long that I would post again I would've given you guys a heads up. @ Pen: Yeeeessss! Thank you for coming back! While we did miss you loads, it looks like those life achievements were worth missing some time here. I've been alright. Survived high school, but got mixed feelings about getting dumped into college only after a few months. I'll be moving again sometime between late July and early August, but it won't be too far away from where I'm at. As for what you missed in the guild... there's quite a bit. There's plans for a recruitment drive sometime soon (poll's up about what people want the reward to be). I started an archival project where sections of the main RP (sections are separated by event/arc) are taken out, cleaned up for spelling/grammar/style errors, injected with commentary in the form of footnotes, and saved in a convenient .PDF format to be read later as a small ebook part of a bigger collection; see any of Sabe's posts for details. For RP stuff, here's a short list covering roughly 18 pages that you missed:
Michelle dies; got shot by some passerby. Nearly everyone goes to her funeral, except Sabe who chose to stay home after almost glitching out of reality (I decided to throw out the machine-world thing). Lots of drama between Michelle's side of the family and the gang end up spoiling the funeral. At HQ, Sabe sees the portal in his and Waffle's room had been shut down and a crate containing gate-hijacking tools and instructions were set nearby; he would have to gather people to help him take over the Zurg Stargate later. When the gang leaves the funeral, they meet Johnny, an angel sent to watch over the group as they repay for messing with the time line.
The gang comes home and disperses, KD tries unsuccessfully to flirt with Johnny, Luciano checks out the garden to see one last thing of Michelle's but is surprised to find it wrecked (due to a lack of care, but he thinks someone ******** with it). Luciano looks around until he hears Sabe, who fell asleep in the garden while everyone else was at the funeral, roll over. Assumptions and jumped conclusions abound as he drags Sabe from his sleeping spot and beats him bloody and senseless.
Tension rises quickly between Waffle and Luciano, peaking when Waffle threatens to burn down Brozen Manor should Luciano not give in to her demands (taking care of Sabe for 2 weeks straight, make sure he doesn't die). Throughout the fighting and bickering before and after, they point out each other's flaws (Luciano is brash and makes assumptions, Waffle is abusive to everyone, especially Sabe, and thinks like a spoiled brat). Sabe gets out from the hospital and gets angry that Luc and Waffle are fighting outside. He backhands Waffle for the first time. At HQ, Waffle returns the favor and gives him a black eye. Sabe turns to Luciano for help and a place to stay (he doesn't remember that Luc was the one who beat him, but Luc doesn't want to tell him the truth either). Waffle slips in to drop off Sabe's luggage and to get back at him one last time before running off.
While Sabe's asleep, Luciano drinks until he blacks out. Sabe wakes up from the noise and drags Luciano back to bed. He cuddles up with Luciano and sleeps peacefully until Luciano's cousins show up. Juliano and Mila come up to see Luc, but see Sabe curled up in bed with him. They assume Luc and Sabe are in a sexual relationship and go down to Sophia and Romero to talk to them about it. Romero blazes upstairs, questions Sabe, and beats him to a pulp while the others just watch. Sophia comes back up with popcorn to 'enjoy the show', and Sabe uses a window of opportunity to flee and take her hostage. At this point, Johnny intervenes and makes the Brozens leave. Johnny talks with Sabe for a bit (Johnny gets an overall positive first impression of Sabe, contrary to the rest of the group) and heals all of his wounds, and notices that he gave off a mental signal that he hadn't sensed in ages. He wonders about this for a bit, but then he senses danger downtown. Johnny forcefully wakes up Luciano and flies to the scene:
Nariana, Koji, and KD had been out for dinner at Orangebee's and had a generally good time until HR Wesley was bombed down the street (see the Gaia manga; new plot development). KD went out to see what's up and got herself hurt badly. She was taken to the hospital. By the time Johnny gets there, KD is clinging to life and using magic to avoid death.
Currently (as far as actively developed plots go), KD is having an out-of-body near-death experience, which lures a Reaper named Carl in to harvest her soul despite the fact that it really isn't KD's 'time' yet. Johnny is defending KD while Koji is standing by. Luciano and Nariana left the scene before Carl came to talk with each other. Sabe, Waffle, Skotti, and pretty much everyone else is at HQ. Pen's still stuck in the future.
A side note: we're currently looking at collabs and improv as the way to go with writing the RP. No more forced burden with arcs.
