As far as I can tell, the only difference between the normal and the adult versions of the book are simple photographic covers, no chapter pictures, and no fancy fonts for things like letters and such.
I guess they made the editions so adults wouldn't be embarrassed being caught reading a children's book?

Isn't it Saturday YET? *dances* I just finished the 6th book for the second time and I'm dying all over again. I preordered on b&n.com but I don't know if it will get to me before everyone else reads it and totally spoils it for me!! gonk Must avoid the internet.

oh good. i'm glad that there aren't differences between the children and adult versions content-wise.
@kimi: i hear ya 3nodding . i pre-ordered mine from amazon. they have this guarantee to get it to me on the release day or else they'll send me another copy AND refund the cost of the book (which happened for books 5 and 6... so i got those books for free...). i don't care so much about getting free books as i do about getting them on the release day, though...
i've been ordering my hp from amazon.com since book 4 <3.

I got my boyfriend addicted to reading HP and he just finished book 6 after being up till 7 AM this morning. I've got my book ordered and and ready to be home delivered, but now he's gonna be bugging me all day for his turn to read it.
If he didn't read so much slower than I do, we'd be cuddled up on the couch together reading it page by page...

Terra Halliwell If I didn't already own the first four books, i would get it. unless you can buy just the box, then that'd be ok. My family owns all six so far, and the seventh will be here Saturday, but my little sister likes to think the books are hers and hers alone, so she keeps them hidden up in her room. She got extremely angry when I told my mom I wanted to re-read the series since the 7th is coming out. Reading through the first four so far, pages have pencil marks, the hard covers are actually dented, the dust jackets are worn... I figure I'll buy my own set with a pretty box to go with it. mrgreen I may wait until www.amazon.co.uk gets the box first though, so I can get those versions instead. whee

I've read 1-4 so many times that I don't have to re-read them before I get 7. But I don't own 5 and 6, so I have to buy them soon so i can read them again before hand. I haven't ordered 7 or anything like that, i can wait until they have more in stock the week after it comes out.
BTW how would i know if the books i have are first edition or not? Where do I look inside the book to tell? Because if they aren't first edition (I doubt I would be so lucky) Then I'll just donate them to the library and buy the latter in the special case...although what will i do with my Sorting Hat bookends???

Do you mean....first edition meaning first printing copies of the books?
Well, Meave don't really care whether it is the first batch of printing copies...because no one would notice it. But if the cover itself is different, then Meave will care, lol. Comparing to cover and to first batch, cover is more easier to judge it differences than batch.
Children and adult version are just cover difference. Children version are more cheery and the art style are more...graphic. Adult version are darker and the art style are more to realistic.
