all this talk about harry potter stuff got me to dress into something more school-like heart .
i agree that slytherins seem to be automatically stereotyped as the bad guys according to the story. i wonder if that makes fanfic writers view slytherin characters as appealing heroes. i mean, choosing a slytherin character to write about almost guarantees that you have a flawed hero, which definitely makes for more interesting storylines than the perfect hero.
my pet lolita rp got me to thinking about that. one of my pet lolitas is a slytherin boy (because he looks hot), and i must say, it's more interesting to write about someone who is inherently good but came from a house of ill repute (hee hee, wait, doesn't that usually pertain to a brothel?) than to write about my hufflepuff boy (who also looks hot).
anyway, i just checked amazon.com and saw that the book 7 release date is the 21st! was it moved up? last i heard it was later in the month. i actually thought it would be on the same day as my move.
i'ma be like kari last time and stay the hell away from gaia until i finish reading book 7 so that i won't run into any spoilers. in fact, i'll stay the hell away from tv and teh intarweb and any other media that could tell me anything about book 7. i didn't see any spoilers for book 6 until i finished reading the story, but afterwards, i saw this one guy going around gaia with the ending of the story in his sig. how awful...
oh yeah, last i heard meriko hasn't read any of the harry potter books. does this mean that you will be reading all of them now, meri? <3

I should be able to finish book 7 in less than a day.
I'll stay off the internet while I'm reading it (after all, who has the time for internets when there's Harry Potter to read?), but I don't see why spoilers bother people so much. I'm the kind of person who can still enjoy a story even though she knows how it ends. A bunch of stories I've read were stories that I already knew the ending of, but read because I was curious to see how the events that lead up to the ending played out.
The people who screamed and cried just because they learned the big spoiler from HBP before they got to it were, well... really, really overreacting.
Ah, I was in Hawai'i when HBP was out, so I couldn't read it till I got home anyway. There were too many touristy kids wasting their vacation reading it instead of running around the beach like they should have been doing. Sigh.

there are some books where i flip to the last page to see how it ends, but i still read the whole thing because i want to see how the characters get to that ending.
but for harry potter, i just feel that there's so much buildup to it that reading the book is an experience in itself. i've been guessing for years how it will play out, and i like to keep guessing until i read that very last page. i really don't want my experience reading it to be... tainted by knowing in advance how it will end, because that feels less satisfying than finding it out myself.
it's like playing a videogame for the first time and finishing it without a strategy guide vs. with a strategy guide. i do it both ways, but finishing the game without a strategy guide, and with just me blundering my way through it, is more satisfying... despite missing out on a whole bunch of side quests and secrets along the way.
and i feel like reading a book without the spoiler and finishing a game without a strategy guide make them more memorable for me as well <3. i remember how i cried when i found out... erm... what happened to one of the main characters in final fantasy vii. i'm not sure if my feelings would've been as intense if i saw that coming.

Um, hey guys, I have a favor to ask everyone. My friend Pixie-Elf is really really sick and the doctors don't know what's wrong with her. she's been in and out of the hospital for months now, and they're still trying to figure it out. It's sad cause she is such a nice person. she really helped me up on my feet when i was hacked by asking friends for clothes and stuff that they dont normally use to give to me. She has such a big heart and she's been really brave through out this whole thing. So to lift her spirits, I wanted to get her something special and i looked on her wishlist and saw she wanted a plumaria headpiece. All I ask is that if you have any tickets, tokens, or even gold that you could spare, I'd me most appreciative. Thank you.
