Almost having the Snitch in hand not once, but twice, was enough to make Dani breathe a particularly ill-tempered oath, as the little golden ball pulled its usually vanishing act on her again. She'd had the game won already had it not been for the pain of her injuries slowing her up. Now, she was back to square one, and hoping against hope Layton didn't get to it before her.

Not a single chaser in sight. Axel would've thought it was dumb luck if he wasn't overtly suspicious of why Cathy hadn't chased him down yet. Maybe it was a ploy. Or maybe Hufflepuff was having an off game. They already lost a beater and their seeker hasn't had much luck in seeking the snitch. Hopefully, Dani'll get her grips on it soon. But maybe he can score another ten points before then.

This game was lasting too long and she wasn't at the top of her game this one. She must have gotten rusty over the summer. That wouldn't do. She should have spent less time shopping and more time at her grandparents where she could have practiced flying on the manor's estate, except that her grandparents were boring and kept making hints at what she should do after graduation (go to the Euro-Glyph School of Extraordinary Languages and then get married to some stuffy pureblood and be some trophy wife who sat at home and popped out kids). She had rather spend her time with her brother or at home in London. Unfortunately both were muggle regions where she couldn't really practice quidditch. But if she was going to be scouted for a national team she would have to step up her game. She rushed forward to attempt a steal from Axel. She NEEDED that quaffle back.

Dodging Cathy easily enough, he had to wonder if something else was bothering the girl. But instead of dwelling, he rushed himself into the scoring zone against their young keeper and throttled the quaffle upwards into the center hoop.
