Hey cult, my friends and I had rented Bleach: Shattered Blade for the Wii and let me say this, this game is simple, but isn't very good.
First off, the controls. It lags A LOT, and it's not the system, it's the game itself. To pause it, you have to press the 2 button and when you do, you have to wait 3 seconds until it actually pauses. To attack you either swing the wiimote up and down or left and right or thrust the wiimote forward, but sometimes when you swing it it either thinks you thrust the wiimote or swung it the other way that you did. Although with these flaws, it's at least simple to do one of three catagories of attacks, quick attacks(just swinging or thrusting the wimmote), Special attacks(hold B while attacking), and Critical attacks(hold A while attacking). You can charge up energy that let's your character release stronger attacks(for the Bleach fans, it's the characters' Bankai's or just a boost of power for some characters) by shaking the nunchuck, but you have to shake it really hard or else it won't read. Guarding is Z, not much else to say about that. And holding C while running is Flash step but it can only go in four directions, not diagnalolly.
Second, the sound. The voice acting is only fair, not too bad, not too good, but the lip sync is almost non-existant. One thing that really brought the voices down is that you could hardly hear them at all, especially when the BGM is so loud. The BGM was actually pretty decent though, they just set the standard volume for it much too high. The sound effects in battle almost sound generic, but that's to be expected since there's not much to actually try to make it better without it sounding weirder.
Third, the characters. You have 18 characters to play as right off the bat, which is actually pretty cool, but there are also a lot more characters to unlock. Although you can unlock about 20 characters, many of them are too strong, too weak, or just plain cheap. For those of you familar with the show or manga, Kenpachi can take out about 1/4 of any other characters life with just 3 attacks, and this is just one example of that.
Overall, Bleach fans might like this game, but people who don't know much about it should probably just avoid it. Now I have to get back to unlocking most of the characters so my school's anime club can have a tournament before it's due back.
