Cody opened the door. "Hey baby," he greeted, allowing Dari to come in. "Do you want something to drink?"

'Baby.' Ugh. Dari's brow furrowed as he attempted a smile.
"No, thank you. I'm alright."

Cody was concerned. He frowned slightly, and sat on the couch. "Baby what's wrong?"

"We just need to talk," Dari said. He rubbed his hands together and shook his head. "I, uh. I need you to just hear me out. A lot of what I'm going to say is going to sound foolish, maybe even crazy. I just need you to take it in and..." He opened his mouth to say the next word, but nothing came. He just closed his lips and sighed.
"Okay?"

Cody blinked. "Okay," he agreed. He didn't really understand. Was he being broken with? What was Dari going on about?

Dari swallowed hard and nodded. Okay. His eyes darted away a moment and then remained in movement, flickering between Cody and nothing at all as he spoke.
"I love you. I'm in love with you, but I've been lying this whole time, about a lot of things. And I'm sorry." He breathed deeply. "I'm not what you think I am. I mean it's not my job. It's...it's me. Just me. I'm not human, Cody."
Before he could rethink the situation, he pulled his ring off and stood in full alien form before his lover, who may not be his lover any more.

Cody sat, eyes wide. Well. ....well then! He wasn't sure how to react. He wasn't syre what to think. He tensed, and then stood to examine Dari. Some part of him was fascinated. The other part, the bigger part, was terrified. "But... You're still you?" he asked, hesitantly. "What are you?"

"I am still me. Yes." There was no blinking, no breathing, no swallowing. Even Dari's expression had gone flat. Only those nearest to him would know it was full of emotion. His eyes glowed even in the midday. When Cody stood, he nearly took a step back. There was no saying how he might react.
"An extraterrestrial. My specimen number is unimportant."

"An alien," Cody marveled, looking stunned. He took a step back. "An alien." He shook his head as if to clear it, staring at Dari. "But I don't understand..." He reached to touch Dari. "Baby, it's really..." the strangeness of the situation seemed to hit him, and he sat back down. A hysterical gargle of laughter escaped him. This had to be some kind of joke. His boyfriend ending up being the one thing he'd dreamt about meeting since he'd been small?
"Does your job specialize in makeup?"

Dari watched Cody's hand approach and thought it would be best if he let him. He'd be able to feel the proof then. Instead Cody backed off and sat down.
"No." He lifted a hand and spread his slender fingers, and then let them depressurize and drop into a rounded, flattish shape that terminated at the slightly more slender curve of his wrist.

Cody looked up then, staring at Dari's hand. The humor of the situation was fading. This wasn't a joke. Dari really was...he really was an alien. He stood again and hesitated. "Can I touch you?" he asked.

Dari worked on getting his fingers back and simply nodded. Well, this had much less screaming than he had imagined.

Cody reached out a hand and touched Dari's cheek. "What does an alien want with me?" he asked softly. "You really... It wasn't a lie?" He loved Dari. But this was scaring him. Was the alien a completely different person than the human skin he'd been wearing?

"It was not." He peeked toward his fingers, found them the right length, and let them fall to his side. What did an alien want him him? The same thing a human wanted with him, of course.
He was rubbery, soft, membranous, but not sticky.

"You feel like a marshmallow," Cody said, pulling his hand away. He took a step back. "So uh... You're an alien."
