The Kelpie seemed to have been waiting for him. He opened the door and wrapped his arms around Toby. "Let's go!" He said happily. He released Toby and smiled up at him. He had a small bag packed. He really was excited to be spending today with his favorite agent.

Toby smiled and returned the hug, then began down the hall with his favorite kelpie.
"What do you want to do today?" he asked. He had asked earlier and gotten some vague ideas, but now that it was actually time he wanted to double-check.

"Can we go somewhere new? I want to see more places. Maybe not the arcade. Can we bake, too? Maia told me about chocolate squares. And maybe--she said you have a pool?" he looked hopeful. He hadn't swam in--he didn't know how long. He followed Toby happily into the hall. "What do you want to do today?"

"Sure, but where do you want to go? Into the city? Out to the country? To the beach? Or the movies?" The teen seemed bubbling with ideas. "Yes, if we pick up some things we can make chocolate squares, and we do have a pool. We can do both of those things. Did you pack enough to sleep over? Just in case?

Kevin considered this question seriously. "Will you play with me at the beach?" he asked. "We could play ball. Or whatever you like." He didn't really know any human water games. His eyes widened. "I get to stay overnight?" he asked. He'd packed an extra outfit and a few things but he hadn't expected to actually stay over. He smiled brightly. "Yeah, I did. What's the country like?"

Play with him?
"Sure. I'm sure I have something we can throw around at home. I want to stop there and change anyway. Suits are no good for the beach, and sure, why not? Baking will probably take a while anyway and it's already sort of late." He unlocked his car and slipped in, waiting for Kevin to get in too before he continued. "The country's pretty flat and green. There's a bunch of farmland. Some orchards like ours but less secret-headquarters-y." He smiled at Kevin.
"So. Beach, baking... we could see the countryside tomorrow during the day?"

Kevin got into the car and smiled. "Okay! Today sounds like a perfect--" he paused, eyes widening. "I get to stay until tomorrow?" He asked. "Really? Yeah, we can do that." He smiled happily, putting his seatbelt on. "Do you think we could look for dragonflies?"

"Sure. If you don't mind sleeping on the couch..." Toby started off then, past the checkpoints and toward home.
"We can. We might see one or two at the beach, but they're easier to find in the country. The less people there are, the more likely dragonflies are to be out."

"I don't mind sleeping on the couch!" was the instant reassurance. "Cool. I used to see them at home, they always like landing on the water. Or in my hair. But they're neat looking."

"It's just about lightning bug time too," Toby said. "You can watch them from the back porch. I'm amazed they'd land on you, anyway. Bugs are usually pretty picky."

"Are you suggesting dragonflies shouldn't like me?" Kevin asked, then grinned and shrugged his shoulders. "I think they don't really mind who they land on when they're tired. Its better than drowning. Do you think lightning bugs will be out tonight?"

"Dragonflies don't land on people usually, that's all," Toby said. Not unless you were standing especially still. "They will be. They always are. We live in a pretty green area for Arizona."

"They do when you're in the middle of the lake," Kevin pointed out, and smiled. "Can we try to catch them?" Kevin asked eagerly. "Please? We can find jars!"

"Sure. I have some jars at home." He remembered going out with Maia for the first time and showing her the little blinking insects."Where did you hear about catching lightning bugs anyway?"

Kevin looked slightly embarrassed. Oh. Caught! "Your girlfriend never stops talking," he said. "But don't think I'm always listening!"
