He had quite been expecting her rune of choice to aid in the drying process...though he didn't expect it to be so...rough. Wind runes were tricky, had to tweak them just right to ger the right amount of force to the air. "Yes...but next time thin down your lines, will make for a much gentler current. No need to spawn tornadoes in the dining room." Yes, there you go Sevilin, keep your head in the training.

Though why was he staring then again as he was smoothign down his own air dried hair and clothes? She had quite the alluring look to her, hair tosseled as if straight out of bed and - ah. you stop it right there Inthara...letting your mind wander there, not a good position to put yourself in. Clearing his throat his pulled out a chair and sat in it before drawing his braid into his hands and undoing it. Water plus wind made for general mess. He liked to look composed, thus this thing had to be redone. "Shall we move on then? Try another."

"I thought you might be interested."

A grin and a walk over, laying a finger on Malvolence, and not three minutes later a slave came in with her outfit. loose fitting trousers in leather, along the lines of what a human might call 'bellbottoms' and a red backless midrift shirt. fabric went behin teh neck to hold it on the body, and there were two strings on the sides to tie in back if one wanted. or they coudl leave it free.

"What do you think?"

The sound of roaring air did catch his attention for a moment.

"Looks like someone is playing with their runes."

Well that made sense, now didn't it? Thin down the lines made for less wind and better results when drying things the wy she was. She continued fussing with her hair until she was satisified and then couldn't help but watch him undo his braid. She could almost feel that smooth silky hair slicing through her hands and it gave him quite a look to see that braid undone. Uncomposed was perhaps the look she was going for. Her mouth went dry and her mind immediately replaced the runes in her head with an image of Sevilin, bare chested, barefoot, and his hair completely free, that one long section fluttering in the breeze. By Lloth that was a rather compelling picture now wasn't it? She shuddered lightly and cloxsed her eyes for a moment then reached for the back of the chair to keep her balance. "Yes..." Without thinking she traced the first rune that popped into her head, an interesting looking ruone with what looked like a heart ensnared in a flame.

She raised an eyebrow. That was twice now that he had brought up his father, though she said notihng aobut it. What? did he think she really cared what his father did?

"So the life of what you kill means nothing then? If there was nothing left, would you then hunt and kill me?" She was not upset by this, nor did she tihnk she would be upset by any answer he had to offer. She was not certain if it was a question worth answering.

They were well on their way to Roarke's Academy, and Aella wondered aobut the man's reaction to his missing cousin.

"You wouldn't understand, I don't think. Have you ever felt like..there was nothing left in the world. everything is empty, hollow, void. the only time you feel alive when your doing one thing. For me, that is the hunt. And spending time with you. so two things."

And up the rigging he went, feline grace leaping and bouding up until he was by the crow's nest on the crossbeam itself, watching, looking like a strange gargoyle, catching the scents, sights, and sounds hsi feline nature allowed him.

Moistening her lips and blinking at the snap she shook her head as though that would actually help clear it and glanced down at the massacred rune. She couldn't even tell what it was that she had drawn but apparentely she'd done it wrong or it might even be a dangerous one. Then it was a good thing he had killed it before it killed them, though she hadn't thought she knew any of the really harmful ones yet but another shake of her head and she racked her brain once again, thinking of another rune she knew. There was one that had been eluding her for quite some time on how it would actually work and she decided to try that one. Concentrating on the shapes in her mind, this one required two runes and an object to work and everything had to be done correctly. She needed a reference for this one, so she opened the book and flipped through pages until seh found it and then after scanning to see exactly what she had to do she followed directions. One rune was traced in the existing circle and then she moved downt he table, drew another circle and traced the second rune in there. Her book was then closed and set on the first rune just as she drew in one last connection to activate both. She waited but the glowiness never happened and her bare foot began tapping. "Okay...my first screwup of the day...what happened?"

"Could be funny, if she gets the wrong rune in teh right way or something. I mean wouldn't you find it funny is say..she did a rune and it made sevilin's clothes become a pink dress or something? or even better, made the floor uder him into quicksand or the like?"

Though a grinned at her in that outfit. she did look good in it. very good.

"So you want to see what they are up to, or were you planning on hiding out until sevilin left?"

Wonderful distraction found in explanation. Grand. "Translocation, you're dipping into quite the extensive studies." Though the explanation was simple, shown as he waved a hand over it all and it easily activated, the book blinked from one end of the table to the other. "You've done nothing wrong, the problem is your skill level. You are a beginner, and translocation is quite the draining process...more so when your target of intent is far off."

"Even though it's not your own energy, runes are still responsive to their scriber as well. Your strokes are still slow and a bit shaky, your runes react according to their clarity and speed at which they are constructed." Andalian runes...overly complicated on purpose really. Ripping a sheet of paper out of a notebook on the table he placed it in her little circle. "Try it again, see the difference." Her skill level was much to low to do anything really heavier than this. Translocation was a frustrating matter.

Piper gave a laugh and rolled her eyes lightly, running a hand through her hair. "I doubt she'd be able to do that at this point in time. As mother always told me, Andalian runes are only as powerful as their scribe. Zahara is just starting out...and the thought of Sevilin in a pink dress is more disturbing than funny to me really. Though the quicksand thing I may giggle at." She was currently fussing with her clothes a bit, not used to being so exposed at all and felt the urge to tug at edges, as well as her collar a bit. True to his word, they did a good job of showing off those passion caused bruises...almost distinctly in shapes of finger tips and occasional palm print. Even the edges of the ones on her hips peeked out the top of her pants. Oh yeah, feeling horribly exposed and being self conscious about it, which was evidenced in her playing with her halved ear. "I'm kind of sick of hiding out from him in my own home really..." Pissed her off really. But leaving her clothes alone for a moment she pulled on socks and boots in turn. "Besides...That's letting him win right? And I don't intend to let him win on the matter."

She looked away. "Yeah. I've felt like that." But she didn't feel like elaborating.

She turned and went to her shared caotains cabin, to make sure of their route and other shippy things.

Joy. She couldn't move the book because she wasn't good enough yet. That upset her but she stiffened her spine and kept herself from getting upset, at least openly. She glanced at that piece of paper for a moment, really wishing she weren't so weak at this but then you had to walk before you could run. So she activated the rune and the paper joined the book on the other side of the table. But she still had to concentrate really hard to activate the rune since it was so difficult and they had to both be activated at once. Took a lot of skill to be able to do something like that. It was much easier to move the paper than the book though, which obviously was weight adn size of the object itself. But she walked down and picked up that paper again, setting it back down in its orignal position and activated them again. Three times she did this, before she was finally satisified with her performance. Then she flipped through the book looking for something else to do that she hadn't tried before. "It's a lot harder than it looks," she said, walking down to the other end of the table and she decided she'd show him another trick she had learned. Pulling a small vial out of Lloth knew where and poured three drops onto that hardened circle. She let it sit for about five minutes and then it started bubbling up and basically breaking itself up. Picking up a rag, she pushed the much more malleable substance into a pile and then grabbed the jar and pushed it back in. She'd made a potion that reacted with the chemicals in the plants to keep it from being so hard to chip off. Why work harder than you had to?

"Indeed. letting him push you about in your own home, wether by your choice or his actions, is letting him win. And I'm sure you don't want that. So lets go downstairs then, enjoy ourselves a bit. I can have a fire in the fireplace if you want, help heat this place a bit. Besides the fact I know you want to see the horses."

He pretty much just stayed as dressed as he already was. he was in a lazy mood as far as clothing. and hell it didn't bother him to not wear a shirt or socks and shoes.

"That's the deception of runes, they're always more than you think they are. Harder, more dangerous, deceptive...quite like the drow themselves I would say." Even the slightly different version the surface elves used in Andal were like that. They were though made for that exact reason the way they were. "Just wait till you try translocationg your own person places...that's a difficult experienace in and of itself, not to mention if you're doing it on yourself and screw up...well let's not talk about that."

Indeed. When he didn't feel like walking, he used it easily enough. He knew his target without the second circle as well, and that made things actualy a little more tolerable yet left a lot of room for error. And no matter skill levels, one always made a mistake some day in some fashion. Though a quirked eyebrow at her little dissolvent. "That's handy...at least you don't use your idle time for useless things."

"I do dare say you're trying to spur me on my own words to get me to be more agressive against him. Yet you won't let me break his cheek bones. You are a funny little elf aren't you A'mael." Though she did notice is lack and careless attitude to clothing. Go figure that, Malik didn't feel the need to make a tank out of himself. How pleasing. A tilt of her head in his direction as she ran a hand through her hair to pull out tangles and fluff it up some. "Well, someone is in a laid back mood, having a day off are you?" Going sans bandana she gave pulled on her gloves before giving a tug to his hair and turning, pulling open the door. "But that sounds horribly good really. And yes I do have horses to check on sometime soon."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 06, 2006 1:31 pm

"Well, being aggresive doesn't always mean breaking bones. and besides, leeping him off balance is not such a bad thing."

A chuckle and a shadowstep to the other side of the door.

"I'll get that fire going, and it will be a roaring blaze soon enough. this place does get a little cold, even with all the torches and such."

And back downstairs, and to teh main living space, where the massive fireplace rested. two or three people could probably fit inside it. and speaking in Tier'dal to slave to fetch fuel and getting things ready. Wood of course was fairly sparse, and the woodlands they had weren't exactly burning material for the most part. wood was just too precious to waste burning most times. at least teh amounts for a fireplace this large. so he was brought bones, large, ogre sized bones, and those were set to burn. it didn't have any smell to it...but it burned very hot. and that woudl help witht eh permeations of heat throughout the area. Piping in the fireplace directed teh heated air through adn about the fortress, and thus worked as a homewide heating system.

"He's fancy as well today isn't he." Well well he was in quite the good mood wasn't he? Of course the cause of that could of been any number of things seeing as things seemed to be going in his favor. Though for a moment gloved hands rubbed at arms that weren't used to being bare...over esposed feeling was right, she'd grown so used to layers and chainmail. The things she did for love and under his gentle nudging. But with another tug at her collar she was making her way downstairs, mindful of her steps...Piper always tended to lean more towards the clumsy side when she was out of sorts even the littlest bit. Though soon enough she was at his side again, with that inquiring air about her. "Ships sailing that smooth, are they Malik?" Though a look to the fire a moment...she was starting to feel guilty about a certain oracle...after all, she did owe the woman a debt and what with Tarathiel's last visit the drow had come bearing bad news.
