Isiah nodded, grunting, standing, pulling Tsurai up onto his feet by his good arm. "You lead." He turned to Braeden. "While you're at it, smoke some rat poison, too."
Braeden winked. "Will when I find some, I promise."
Isiah growled in his chest, waiting for Tsurai's signal.

Tsurai kept the jacket on him, and started walking, he kept turning back to see if Isiah was following him, but also to see if Braeden could still hear them.
Once he was out of Braeden's sight, Tsurai stopped and waited for Isiah. And once Isiah was close to him, Tsurai finally started off the awkward conversation.
"I thought you said you didn't/i] have a crush on me, Isiah."

"I don't!" He started, quickly. "You're not being careful, Tsurai. Braeden is dangerous. He wants you.. He.. I don't know what he wants, but whatever it is, it can't be good."
Isiah paused to try to make sense of his own sentence, but couldn't do it. "Braeden's bad!" Way to follow it up, slugger.

Tsurai crumpled in thought for a second.
"You're jealous?" He questioned. He figured Isiah was. "Listen, I know he's rude and stupid, but he's just.. I don't know. I learn things better from him than I do you. I'm not gay, I don't like him.. Like that. I don't like anyone like that."
Tsurai pushed his arm through the wet jacket sleeve while the rain died out. "I know I'm not smart, but I've crushed on people before, and if you have a crush on me then that's fine. Say it. Get it off your chest. You know nothing is gonna happen between us other than.. What has already. I mean. We're not going to be all.. Together or having sex or anything."

"Kid," his voice was thick. "You ain't my type, okay? I'm just being a friend and looking out for you. All you're gonna learn from that druggie..."
God, he was so jealous it hurt. He couldn't find any reasoning. Tsurai HAD learned more from Braeden than from him.. it was so intensely frustrating.. Why did it happene that way?! Braeden's an idiot! I... His shoulders fell, muscles untensing. "You're not going to come out on top of this one."

Tsurai put his hand to his face. He really wanted to trust Isiah, but everything Isiah had done was saying he was lying.
"I know you don't like him, and I thank you for looking out for me. And I'm sorry about earlier when I said I didn't want you doing it. Braeden's.. Despite how dumb it sounds, Braeden's right. You are my 'mom', I guess. And I kind of.. Like.. Having a guardian like you. And I trust you a lot. And I know you hate Braeden, but just because you're jealous of him, he's just someone I can learn stuff from, nothing more. I wouldn't even call him a friend at this point."
Tsurai took a large breath, running his fingers through his laden hair.
"The situation you ran in on wasn't the best. My mind wasn't thinking well at that point, and I forgot you were asleep. I shouldn't have screamed. I'm sorry."

Isiah sighed. "You're too young.. and.." He chewedon the inside of his mouth, rephrasing mentally. "Maybe not in years, but in experience, Tsurai. If you hadn't of screamed, Braeden would have ripped you apart. You don't know old denziens like I do. You can't start a fight with a denzien and not expect to finish it..." He folded his arms over his bare chest, uncomfortably naked. "If you want to keep hanging around with this guy.. You gotta take what he tells you with a grain of salt. He's going to try to feed you lies. That's what his clan does. Feed kids lies. That's what all Denziens do."

"I know that. That he tells lies, I mean. He spouts a lot of them all the time. .. But he.. He knows Brian, and he hates you.." He scratched his head, thinking.
"Truth is.. I'm afraid of him... If I do too much s**t wrong.. I know he can tear me apart. But what I also know is.. He hates you.. I'm.. I'm an object, Isiah. I get thrown around as a trump card or some.. Piece of supplies. I tested drugs, and sometimes I dealt them, and a lot of times I killed people. That's all I do." He squinted. "Did."
He shook his head and continued. "Anyway, point is, this could turn out badly. And if something happens, Braeden's going to only hurt me to get to you. So I'd rather learn what I can from his now, and then hopefully, quietly, go our seperate ways, without you getting involved. And that's why I'd really appreciate it if you act like you didn't care about me so much. He knows, and he's going to use it against you. I can handle pain if I need to. I can handle emotional pain better. You can't. No offense, Isiah, but if anything happens, I'd rather be missing an arm than you have an emotional breakdown because you couldn't protect me."

Isiah bit his lip. He could think of no situation in which Braeden would be able to overpower him. Every single scene that came to mind ended with Braeden in a crumpled pile on the ground, broken and bleeding.
If he had wanted to, he could have killed Braeden. He could have crushed his ribcage, torn his arms from the sockets, broken his back.
But Tsurai was right. Isiah couldn't be there all the time, and Braeden knew that, and would use it to his advantage. Damn me, he mused. Damn me and ******** me for getting attatched, again, when you knew this would happen.
"Okay." He answered, simply. "Okay. If that's really what you want. I don't condone your decision."

"That's fine," Tsurai answered. "I really can't think of anyone that agrees with anything I decide." Tsurai nervously ran his fingers through his hair again, and started to walk back toward Braeden.
"I don't think I'm going to get any sleep tonight," he mused, pulling the jacket's sleeve over his pretty-much dead and still sore arm.
"But if you can, try not to worry about me. I may not be able to fight very well, but if I'm dying, the other guy usually dies first... Heh, sorry." He gave a small chuckle to himself. How stupid he sounded.

Isiah grunted. "Like that's supposed to make me feel better?" By the time they were back, Braeden was on his feet, on another cigarette- one of those that Isiah had tossed at him- talking in the same low, gutteral language that Isiah had used during their fight to another similarly tattooed youngin' who had come over to ask questions.
Isiah frowned merely at the sound of the language, grumbling. "Tsurai, I'm gonna.. go.." He wandered off back toward the well, opting to see if the clay-red water was more drinkable at it's source.
Braeden turned his head and watched Isiah go, chuckling, though still talking to his tattooed compatriot. After he had finished the other youngin' wandered off. Braeden quirked a brow at Tsurai. "What'd you tell him?"

Tsurai was worried about Isiah, still. He turned to ask Isiah to wait, but then sighed instead, forcing a small small back to Braeden.
"I told him to stay out of our business."
Tsurai sat down on the ground with a grunt. "What language is that, anyway? What were you saying?"

"Denzien. And I was just telling that kid that he doesn't need to worry about your overgrown guard dog. There's been some talk going on, that's all." He blew a smoke ring upward, smiling at the sound of rain. "I wonder if the rain'll melt the tarps we got up and around here.."

Tsurai narrowed his eyes. "What kind of talk?" "I hope no one was listening to our conversation earlier.. Does word really spread that fast...?"
"I'll ignore the fact that you stole pretty much all our ciggerettes if you tell me."

He laughed, as if there was anything Tsurai could do about it. "Some people thing that I'm gonna have to be his b***h now that he beat me in a fight. But he ain't a Denzien anymore. And even if he was.. Well. We woulda fought on different terms, then. I'm surprised you can keep such a short leash on him, really." He pulled the cigarette from his lips, exhaling, twirling it between his two forefingers.
"Kid, answer a question for me." Braeden knelt down to the ground, popping the cig back into his mouth, drawing a symetrical symbol into the dirt. "You seen a tatt like that on Isiah?"
