I tried that. The schools get away with it becuase they say it is distracting to other people. They usually have fine print in the student handbook about such things. and the whole solitary confinement is called In School Suspension.
I learned the hard way that a lot of your basic rights as an American are forfeit when attending school. I was a rotten little b*****d growing up...

Yes, well...I sem to have all my Canadian rights taken away from me by my school. ): But in the hand book it does say no un-natural hair.. S:
What they've done/taken from me: -Individuality and creativity. -Happyness. -freedom of speach. -Any hope i'd had of becoming sucsesfull. -Depriving me of the school i've begged to go to. -Told me I should get involved, maybe support the sport teams. [Eww!] -Stuffed me in the ISS room when, as a second cycle student, we don't get ISS, we get suspended like that. Oh! and I wasn't even allowed to be seen in hallways. for my haor was to much of a disgrace. -False accusations. - Etc...etc..etc...

A public school, one of the top five in blah-bah-blah.. -roles eyes- I don't want to be there, and i don't deserve to be there. All i want is to go to my crack head school where half of the techers can't speak english and make you play with arubix cubes all day. [sp?]

Well, in my honest opinion, I fidn I sound perfectly normal. (: But, in reality, yes. Usually after a bottle of mixed gin n' wine and probably some southern comfort, I think I have the right to slur..and rant. Heh...

We;re not allowed hats, either. 'Cause it's impolite to wear a hat in buildings. It's an old unwritten thing..bah. I love wearign hats...e.e;! Kitty ears? Oooooo! -squee-

Yes... yes, we all kow how adorable you look in Kitty Ears, Mr. Cubby. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've always understood and have tried to raised myself ( & others) in the belief that you should remove your hat in:
- Church - Out of Respect For The Dead and most of all... - At The Dinner Table.
As for schools, I find this to be outright un-natural. I could understand taking off your hat when meeting someone of great importance, but other than that... there's no reason. Whatsoever.
In my personal expierence, it's best to handle this situation the best I know how:
"Fight the system until the system fails. Then suggest they change their policy."
I've done it before and I'd do it again.

It's ok, Miss Sparrow... we'll ge tyou the help you need. I know what it's like to listen to "The Devil went down to Georgia" for hours on end. It's horrible. My friends Bromwyn & Kelley forced me to do such a few years back. It's still in my head.
