The act that has earned the Orks the eternal hatred of the Necrons
PostPosted: Wed May 30, 2007 7:39 pm

Oh, you just wait until I get home to my miniatures in.... three months?

I'll have LOTS of stuff to earn your hatred.

The guy who runs it (Scarpia, from The-Waaagh.com) counts it as an Ork Battlefortress, from Imperial Armour Update 2006. It's even armed correctly.

As long as you're allowed to run Forge World stuff, that baby is tourney legal.

I'm glad you brought it up.

Scarpia wrote his own explanation but rather than bank on that, here's how I responded on another forum entirely in a thread about my 'Kronlootas (Orks wielding Necron weapons, which are powered by the half-living remains of Necrons strapped to their backs -- which count as Tankbustas accordingly):
I
Oh, I've put a LOT of thought into this, believe me, and I have a few safeguards. Listed in order of believability (not that any of them will likely be accepted by any but the most lenient fluff nut):

Firstly, evidence: both the Gorkamorka books (the origin of the Necrons) and existing 40k models (old Chaos Lord, Chaos vehicle sprue) use the remains of defeated Necrons aesthetically, so clearly there are some instances in which defeated Necrons (or parts thereof) don't tellyport out.

Secondly, fluffiness: Orks are masters of force-field and tellyporta teknologee. Something the Orks have come up with intentionally or inadvertently interfered with the Necron phase out. Kustom force field, bubble-chucka (my favorite explanation since so few people remember it), or kustom inna-dikta runtbot (which I may model just for the purposes of this). biggrin

Thirdly, circumstance: the Orks (Zed's Deathskullz in this case) looted the remains without triggering the phase out. The lootas "lost" the battle intentionally to get their hands on some extra blasty bitz. Zed's a Morker, and thusly cunning, but brutal. I also intend to tie his history to Angelis (there's nothing to say some Orks didn't make it off-planet before the Tin 'Eadz stripped it clean - or even that Gorkamorka was completed!) and ideally to the Old Ones as well, but that's a much longer story for another thread entirely. Alternatively, the Orks already had control of the phase-out destination when the 'Krons lost the battle on the sands. :choppa

Fourthly, intent: my Kronlootaz will be lead by a Mekboy who figured out their weakness, or how to disable them without causing phase out. This one's hard to believe, but I'll be modelling it anyway - every looted kron will have a gaping hole in its chest or head with wires sticking out. Whenever I get around to building a Dakkalith, I'll adorn the inside with little chunks of sprue, which I'll explain are the "phase out" bitz of each looted Necron.

In addition to the above, there's also the idea that the Necrons have to phase TO someplace, presumably a Tomb World. By ambushing the Necrons on the other side of the phase out, or deliberately assaulting a Tomb World, it's feasible that one could come away with some nice kit - assuming, of course, one survives. That one came up later in the thread, and is probably the least believable, so take it with a grain of salt.

The simplest explanation:
Anzions theorem.

Orks know dat ard' chains will old' down da floaty t'ing good.

So they chain it.

Orkish latent psychics go to work, interefers with the natural sciences necrons use to teleport.

Presto.
Looted Monolith.

I hate Anzion's theorem. stressed

Jon, I hate you and your convincing logic. I don't like it bu I suppose not liking t is going to change a thing. So your "Kronlootas" can keep the monolith, I'll get it back after I scrape the flayed orc remains off it. Maybe clean it up a bit and get those chains off it. I don't consider it taking, I'll consider it "Borrowing without permission until I get

We'll nick anything that ain't bolted down - an' if it is, we just nick the bolts first.

I really like the looted necron style - the necrons were introduced in Gorkamorka, after all. wink
