I should say that I don't particularly subscribe to the idea that Games Workshop is wealthy because their product is pricey. (Same with Blizzard and WoW.)
Yeah, buying miniatures is like getting hit in the junk and then losing your wallet, but we all know that development isn't free. Like all companies, most of your price goes to the retailer, the employees, and materials cost. The remainder is funnelled directly into new products.

Like all companies, most of your price goes to the retailer, the employees, and materials cost. The remainder is funnelled directly into new products. Which is always the case, hence why I don't generally complain about the cost of miniatures. Especially since they are trying to make things that are cheaper for their customers; a.k.a. all the new plastic models that they are developing. So all in all I am perfectly happy with Games Workshop.

Andreis I still say you are condoning far too much.. you DO know that there is SOME rich person behind this... honestly. See, I just don't think this is the case. I highly doubt anyone at GW is being paid a disproportional amount. I'm sure they're paid well - they do, after all, run the most successful miniature wargame company in the world. I just firmly believe that the rising real prices (counting for inflation) is almost directly related to increased development of new miniatures, books, and publications.

Well look at how highly detailed all their models are; look at how thick all their books are. I mean; it's not like they are truly making THAT much money because it takes so much to make what they sell us.

It take me like 2 months before i can buy a simple tactical marine packet let alone anything heavier. I mean 50 dollars for a dreadnaught is a little much for one model not too much larger than one terminator which is only what 10-15 dollars??

i know but that's a little cheap i mean say you have a 3 cm model that could kill anything in the game, so what it's going to e what 60-70 dollars because of that ability to kill anything very easily?? Just saying tha's a little cheap

The pricing is fair. My dad put it very clearly once. He told me that the game is unfair, and I sadi why, and he told me that the rich guys get the best army. While I have struggled, and spent every cent I had on Warhmmer, (and a few I didn't have) I have finaly gotten my Orks up to avery large amount. I spent two years doing that, and this guy I know, brouth a massive army, tat outnumbers mine by at least three to one, is a matter of weeks.

Outnumbering you is usless if he's a couple hundred points overspent.
The best army comes in 2 forms.
The best painted. The best tatically.
2 years gives a guy experience in both. You're probably the better hobbyist and gamer than he is.

yo_momma117 but, the models arent just priced on size, but by value in the game Models are priced on size and complexity. In-game value has little to no bearing on price. lord_illpalazzo The pricing is fair. My dad put it very clearly once. He told me that the game is unfair, and I sadi why, and he told me that the rich guys get the best army. While I agree that pricing is fair, I think your dad doesn't understand the hobby. This is why armies are based on point values, not on how many models you own. If you both have 500 points, you should (technically) have an even match. Granted, if he has more models available to him, he can more appropriately tailor his army to defeat yours, but as was mentioned above, it all comes down to tactics and experience, not dollars spent. Not to mention a huge army means nothing if it's The Great Unpainted. Likewise, if he doesn't practice using the army, he's going to get his thousand dollar army handed to him, along with his a**. Like all hobbies, the real currency of Warhammer is time spent.
