Reck's eyes tightned and he gave Kisoku a strange look like he was trying to see through him. He then pointed at him and spoke in a mild tone voice. "Why are you always so serious?"

Kisoku stared back at Reck, his gaze just as piercing. "Why do you always have to joke about things?" he retorted effortlessly. "One man in this village has to be mature."

"Because thats what I do. Isn't it better to have fun with your friends than to be serious and alone most of the time? It is for me."

"Just because you're serious doesn't mean you're alone. It means that you don't fool around when there are more important things to do, and that you know that happiness is almost always an illusion," he stated simply. "And while there are always exceptions to nearly everything, most of the time those who take life seriously are more satisfied with it in the end."

Reck zoned out while Kisoku was talking about how life could be serious and stuff and snapped out of it a couple of seconds after he finished talking giving him a slightly blank stare for a moment then a simple smile. "What was that? I wasn't really paying attention. haha."

Kisoku smirked. "And that is why I am a chunin, while you're still a mere genin."
((Shortness~...but true. Kisoku's been a chunin for, technically, seven-ish years. Reck's been a genin for four, and they're about the same age. X3))

Reck's eyes widened and an expression of shock came across his entire face as soon as Kisoku stated that he was a chunin and Reck was still a genin. Reck looked down at the floor and his muscles loosened as his body went slightly limpand he zoned out of everything that was going on around him completely. His eyes went dead with no expression or feeling in them and he sat there thinking about what Kisoku had said. ".....huu...."

Kisoku raised an eyebrow. "What, just like that you abandon your happiness philosophy?" Kisoku crossed his arm, the movement awakening the sleeping rodent and causing her to scramble into the embrace, before promptly falling asleep again.
He stared at the genin for a bit, then said, "There's a huge difference between genin and chunin. Aside from level, chunin need to be able to pick up information quickly and not joke about the situation. Jounin need to know innuendo within speech, and ANBU need to be able to make accurate conclusions based on body language alone.
"Even though I can pick up fairly well on innuendo, I choose to remain a chunin. Why are you still genin?" he asked bluntly.

Reck sat there and heard what Kisoku said to him about the ranks of shinobi but he didn't take in what he said, just sat there still looking at the floor with dead eyes and no feeling in his body.

Kisoku stood, shifting the rodent to keep her from falling to her mortal doom. Stepping towards the kid ((shorter + younger = kid)), he pulled back his hand, made a fist, and punched Reck square in the jaw.

Kei tryed in every way, shape, and form to stay out of the conversation. They both had their own view... and... well... they just did. Kei started paying attention when Reck, all of a sudden, went dead on all of them. And then to just watch Kisoku punch him... it was uncalled for... "Kisoku! Dont do that... You have no right to do something like that to him..."

Kisoku raised an eyebrow, but didn't turn from the kid lest he retaliate. "I believe I do have the right if he needs to be snapped out of whatever funk he's gotten himself into."

Kisoku punched Reck in his jaw while he was in a depressed daze and Reck fell back out of his chair and crashed onto the floor rolling over his head and onto his back lying on the floor looking at the ceiling. He stayed where he was on the hard cold for a moment for no apparent reason eventhough the punch barely hurt at all since he trained his body so much. After afew seconds paseed by, he slowly got to his feet hiding his eyes behind his hair looking strait down and stood where he was formally lying on the floor and turned his head upwards and just looked at Kisoku with eyes that had no feeling or soul in them but somehow had a presence of extreme haterid in them. After that, Reck turned away from Kei and Kisoku and walked out of the cafe without saying a word or even taking Gomma with him.

Kisoku raised an eyebrow at the exit. He didn't stop the guy, though. If he wanted to leave, there was probably a reason for it- and, even though it didn't phase him, that last look was malicious enough for Kisoku to respect the set boundries and pull back. He turned and sat again, this time across from Kei. She was probably very ticked off at him for chasing away her brother (he still didn't quite believe they were related), but it was his nature. He couldn't help it. People naturally disliked him.

Kei was shaking now. What was that cold look? It was like he was aiming it at her too.... She was scared and sad, and... she didn't even know..She just watched him leave, unable to move, but when he was gone she just let her head fall and hit the table.
