“Yes, you outrank me because you went to the last kage and bugged the hell out of her to get to that rank.” Roy mumbled to himself and sighed. He wasn’t one much for running unless he needed too. Sides, he read the mission profile so he knew that it was in the Badlands. And thus, Roy took his sweet time.

She wandered into the tower, ignoring and avoiding the ANBU that guarded there. They were giving her weird looks. Hadn't they ever seen the child of the Kage before?
She paused halfway up the stairs. Now that she thought about it, they all looked new. She hadn't seen them before. Then again, this time she was gone for a few days instead of just a few hours like beforehand. Her parents were probably worried sick. They had probably sent the old tower guards after her. She worried at her lip for a moment, then continued her ascent to her father's office.
When she got there, she opened the door, expecting a hug or a roaring lecture. Instead, silence greeted her. She looked around. They had rearranged things since she had been there. A lot. In fact, nothing was the same.
She hugged the blanket she had found, moth-eaten and full of holes but enough to modestly cover her, as well as two items in her hand- her headband (it was new, so she didn't understand why it was so utterly scuffed and beat up) and a silver necklace (she found it near her, so assumed that she could keep it- after all, nobody else was around). She couldn't remember what happened to her clothing, but she wanted nothing more than to curl up next to her father and fall asleep to the sound of him reading aloud to her.
She scooted forward and sat delicately in the chair before the desk, careful not to topple anything, and proceeded to wait for her father to return.

The music vibed in his ear as he danced through the halls of the tower. He was taking the long way through but really had caught most by surprise. He hadn't really come to the tower for much else other than picking up a belonging here and there. His room was an utter mess and the office was probably full of papers. He had avoided all but the absolute paperwork. Thanks to the previous Tsuchikage, most people in the tower were use to this sort of thing but they still didn't appreciate it. The last Kage had earned their respect and the ability to be this damn lazy. This guy was new and just doing whatever he felt like.
He began to shift up the steps and soon dashed towards the end of the hall. He had forgotten his guitar and was heading back for it. Just as he reached for the door handle... he stopped. Something wasn't right about it. It had been disturbed and not by him... He slowly reached into ihs pocket and headed into the room to look around.
All he saw was a little girl at his desk. He arched a brow and took his earphones off. He glanced around quickly then back to her, "Ummm little girls room is 3 doors down dear. Please tell me you didn't use my chair."

Kinami turned around. She heard someone come in, but knew it wasn't her father. For some reason, every time her father entered, he had an obscene habit of opening the door in a way here it bounced off the wall and nearly slammed him in the face upon return.
She cocked her head to the side in confusion. "Uncle Takato?" she asked. She wondered what he was doing here. She hadn't seen him in a year or so, and the family reunion wasn't scheduled for another half year at minimum. "What are you doing here? Have you seen dad?"

Marcus' face became solumn... After all, his family had been killed by his teammates long ago... why was this girl calling his fathers name. As far as he knew, none of the family were schedualed to come to town, let alone let their kid in town. What was going on here? Besides, this girl looked no more than about 10 or so and his father was over 15 years in the ground. No way for this girl to have known him.
He clenched a kunai in his pants tightly and slowly closed the door behind him with his foot. "Ummm, names Marcus kiddo... how do you know the name Takato... that was my old man..."

Kinami furrowed her brow, biting her lip. "Uncle Takato is my uncle," she said quietly. "My dad's brother." She was suddenly nervous about this person. He looked so much like her uncle, but now that she looked, there were a few well-placed differences. He was taller, thinner, and didn't have the same eyes. "I just want to know where my dad is. He's the kage, he should be here." The last part was muttered, more to herself than to the strange man.

Marcus looked to the girl... was she serious? First she had called his fathers name and said 'uncle' and then said that her father was the Kage. None of the family had children this young that had qualified for the Kage position... what strangness was going on.
He then stopped to think about it but muttered it to himself "... did she have... no wait... it couldn't be... no... she was steril... who the..."
"MARCUS!"A familiar voice chimed in from what seemed like everywhere. It was a younger womans voice and it seemed agitated. Soon, slipping from the walls came Yoko of the Uchiha clan. Her eyes were ablaze with Mengekyo as she stormed across the room and drew a kunai to the mans throat.
"What does this girl mean, 'My father is the kage...'. Is there something you're neglecting to say again Marcus? Or did you simply lie to us about being... unable...?" Blood began to drip down his throat a bit... she was pissed.

The young girl cowered in her chair, drawing the blanket closer. She didn't know who this woman was, but she did know that she was scary. "U-um, he isn't my father..." she trailed. In fact, she had doubts that she was related to this man at all.
She started to unfurl cautiously and tried to not draw attention to herself. She didn't know what was going on. Where was her father? "I-I'll just go find Karada-sensei and see where my parents went..." Karada-sensei was her professor. Granted she was rather getting up there in age, and a little strict, she knew the kage's daughter and was loyal to her father. She would know where the kage and his wife had gone, surely.

Marcus stopped cold, even with Yoko talking in front of him... that name... that the girl just mention. He slowly stepped by and began to walk over to the girl and looked down to her and blinked a few times. He then smiled and pat her on the head, "Gonna have a long trip. The old bat Karada is dead. Heart attack or something. Don't remember... I slept through her funeral."
He then yawned, "More importantly, she died some decade or so ago... soooo how old are you kid? Also my old man, Takato, croaked a bit ago to. His funeral I just skipped."

Her breath quickened. Something was terribly wrong. Her professor, dead? Her uncle (granted she never saw him that much, she still remembered how fun and happy he had been around her), also deceased? She had to know. She had to find her parents. She ducked around them, clinging to the blanket, dashing past them and through the door, taking the familiar path to her parents' suite on the top floor of the tower. She had to know.

Marcus looked to her bolt off and turn down a path that could only lead to one place. But he was more interested in that blanket. He had seen it before but wasn't sure where... why was tis girl so familiar? He thought it over and then realized it.
The people she was requesting, the structure of her body... it all came flooding back. And then he also realized... there was now a 12 year old girl going towards his room. He dashed out of the room after her and all he could think about was speaking to stop her, "Kiki! Wait!" Kiki was a nickname he had given his cousin so many years ago. His cousin Kinami...

Kinami was barely keeping ahead of him. She stumbled up the stairs, trying to remain clothed in the blanket, as she had woken up without anything else on. She even ignored the nickname, since her younger ((?)) cousin couldn't be there and nobody else had called her that ever. Her parents had a different nickname for her, and she had no friends to call give her any other ones. She kept running.

The door to his room would open but a bit slowly, there were things of his personal effect all around the room. Not to mention a few unmentionable pieces. He had been pleasing one of the ladies bit earlier and the toys still lay in plain sight. It was painfully obvious of one thing though, her father wasn't here. Nor had he or anthing of his been in this room anytime recently.
Marcus came up to her and sighed a bit, "I'm the Kage now Kiki..."

Kinami stared at the room. She didn't have to go visit where her room was located (used to be located was more like it) to know that it would be completely different. She had only been gone for a few days! How could someone get rid of an entire lifetime of knick-knacks and furniture and heirlooms in such a short time? She trembled with suppressed emotion. "Where are they?" she whispered. "Wh-where are my parents?" She turned to the strange man, backing up slightly until her back was to the wall, clutching her blanket and feeling entirely too vulnerable. "Wh-wh-who are y-you?" she stuttered out in a barely audible gust.

Using her pulse, it wasn't too hard to find where missions were being distributed. Now all she had to do was help her new friend choose one. But how dangerous should it be? She knew she had increased in skill since her last mission, but what exactly was his skill. She had seen hi limited, he had see her at almost her full power. This put a bit of a damper on her ego, but still... "Alright, we're here..."
