I really, really, REALLY hate having to explain why insults derived from the word "retarded" (which yes, IS an ableist slur when you use it as an insult, thankyouverymuch) are ableist.
I also hate explaining what ableism is and why it's harmful.
I also really, REALLY hate people who say, "Well, I'm not going to change how I speak because if I offend someone with ableist slurs it's their problem." Why are you okay with participating in the oppression of other people?!

I'm trying to find some nice long skirts for summertime, and the style I want, every other listing is "Boho g~ skirt!" And I refuse to give business to a person/people who use that word in their item listing. Or maybe I'm just being overly.....something. I can't think of the word right now. "Sensitive". I wrote to Jane from Holy Clothing once. She said she wasn't going to change it because it would effect her bottom line. Sweet>> Yeah. Makes me head desk. I also hate the fact they don't have their wrap pants any more.

I'm slowly working on my problems with forgetting the ableist connotations of that word when in anger. Don't hesitate to smack me, Kitty, when I screw up and use the word "retarded" as a slur. *nodnod*
The good news is, I've made a lot of progress with the G~ word. There's a secondary character class in Ragnarok Online called a G~ but I just refer to it as the primary class it came from, "Dancer".
It does irritate the crap out of me that a game I like named an almost naked (beyond draping see through clothing) female only class who uses whips and music as weapons a G~
Not to be confused with my irritation for making all of the truly effective classes in the game wear the most a** backwards stupid armor I have ever seen.
No, steel bikinis will not protect me. No, I am not amused with turning every female character into a sex object.

First the medical leave, the 2 grand bill from ISU, the notary's hours being the same as my own (so getting forms to help pay for the bill), and now? Nick's doctor sent a form in late and nick's license is revoked.

Ooh, that's the kinda thing that wears anyone down, man. Just how much can you remove yourself from the situation while still being civil with them? I don't wanna tell you to lie to them.... but "homework" was always my excuse in those days! Still is, when they call just to nag about anything that even someone else did, as though I could fix it. That, and I would make it a point to get out of the house as much as possible, to visit a friend or two. Just without neglecting anything I need to do. Violet Song jat Shariff: yeah, I can relate to your frustration. Getting a job while still holding principles is getting to be a challenge. A summer job to help pay rent for an apartment near school is gonna hurt. I'll either end up in a sales floor where the job description means "coercing customers" or working in another warehouse with a history of treating workers like dirt. That's the only kind of stuff that won't just pay for the gas to get there and back! And Katie-Kat, would it be comforting at all to look at such folks as socially disabled? Because sometimes I swear its there's a connection between ableism and not really being completely able in one respect or another in a way that isn't medical. But, even normal people on occasion do have a kinda "temporary insanity" when you push them hard enough. Hey, here's a saying that's supposedly "ancient chinese wisdom": "one ailment mean long life. No ailment mean short life!" I have no doubt that you know how to take care of your needs, on many levels, better than that kind of person, whether or not your sensitivity comes from being close to someone who's disabled, or not.
