How did that old saying go? If something belongs to you, set it free. If it comes back that's because it knows what's best for it - and if it doesn't, you must destroy the reason it left. -- or something to that effect. Sasha's smile turned a little smug, and she loosened her grip on Otto. She did not release him completely, but he could pull away if that was the terrible decision he decided to make. But he wouldn't, because he was hers. He would never make a choice as wrong as that. "Yes, we're just fine." Sasha tsk'd softly.

He could see distant lights flickering in the distance, but they were not near him. Could not see him. Weren't looking for him.
There is no one left anymore to look for me.
Not Rin. Not Rep. Not Jan.
No one.
Cold fingers touched his wet sweater and he shivered in the cool of the large mall, surronded but without company. There was no responsibility anymore, but there were no obligations for anyone to be around him.
If this went south, he went south alone. If there was salvation, they would be looking for others that were better than him. Worth more than him.
No one cared here after all. When things became dire as they always became, in the bleakest situations, no one saved each other. He hadn't. They hadn't.
Just her - and where was she now?

Otto huffed. "Okay, but make it quick. We got work to do." And unless Maebe wished to tag along? She'd have to be quick. But she wanted to talk alone. He pulled away from Sasha, and gave Maebe an impatient look. "We're on a mission yanno. s**t's kinda real ********' grim." So what do you want?

In spite of the fact that they were all still in the middle of a mission and the initially dark and now wet mall was still crawling with the infected, Nellie couldn't help giggling at the sight of the bandage in Isaac's hair courtesy of Felicia's effort. It was going to be hard to patch themselves up if anything even stayed on at all with the water that kept raining upon them from the sprinklers above.
"No..."
Talk about being prepared for a mission. She was going to have to make sure that she brought some bandages with her next time. "But there should be some bandages back at the base." Nellie quipped then followed up shortly as an afterthought. "Or the nearest chemist store."
They were at a mall so there had to be one right?

Holy Christ, Otto was being a b***h. She could see why Sasha had decided to try and claw around him, because women like that enjoyed little puppies in their purses. She led him off several feet away, and turned him so her back faced Sasha. "Yeah," She whispered harshly. "Okay. So first off? Don't ******** tell me we're on a mission. You don't get to talk to me like that. I know we're on a mission and I'm doing a hell of a lot about it, for once. Secondly? What the hell is with your attitude right now? I mean seriously? Do I deserve that kind of talk from you? I've done nothing but be supportive lately. Stop being an a*****e to me so I can explain to you something that will probably save your life - because guess what, I still care whether you live or die, even if all you care about is treating me like a b***h."

She was wasting time. Rep had dropped his positive happy go lucky act in lieu of the danger. There was floors coming apart, monsters roaming, civvies dying. And Maebe was calling him a b***h. "And?" He huffed. She was not making this quick. "I was about to make myself useful and you suddenly needed to talk. Why? Cause I'm with a girl? Cause that's what it seemed like."

Maebe's head dropped back as she let out a low, exasperated groan. "Jesus ********, Otto, get your head out of your a**. I don't care who you're ********. I'm trying to protect you. I don't even know why anymore. I thought we were cool. I really did! I thought that you weren't going to treat me like s**t anymore." He deserved everything his path was leading him towards. He deserved the pain, the torture, maybe even the death. He deserved it, all because he'd hurt her, and thought this was about jealousy. Because that was how petty Otto Graves thought his girlfriend still was. He deserved this. No. He didn't. "I didn't tell you some stuff. When we were together. About what happened to Sasha. And I need to tell you now, because of your handy friend there." Her eyes flickered to his hand for a moment, before they came back to him. "Are you going to listen, or are you going to keep insulting me?"

"We are cool. I'm irritated." He defended haughtily, his arms crossed. Protect him? What was he, an infant? He tapped his fingers against his arm, his lip curling in indignantly. She thought he was treating her like s**t. As if. As IF. "Im listening." He grumbled. What the ******** did she think was wrong with Sasha? Maybe Maebe needed to check herself. She seemed to have issues with two girls now that he rather liked. He'd listen. He didn't have to agree.

lizbot To: America From: Rep Is that your business? There are people qualified to help with the antidote supply doing do, there is a form of triage going on. It is necessary, it would not be happening if there was some way America Jones could wave her magic wand and fix it.

Maebe did not consider the way he talked to her as cool. She considered it disrespectful as ********, and couldn't understand why he thought this was okay. Even now, even after pointing out that this had to do with his key, he was still acting like she was a pain in the a** for stopping him. Even now.Being good sucked. She bent in, her voice nothing but a very tight, quiet whisper to assure only he would hear it. "Sasha switched bodies with some other woman who tried to kill me. That's not actually Sasha's body behind us. And the thing is, she told me there's some power she wants to awaken but she needs keys. And guess who's ******** got one." If he was ever worried about being used in his life, Maebe hoped to God this would be the one moment he woke up and realized he was in trouble. "This is all I wanted to tell you - don't let her know you've got that thing. Under any circumstances. That's literally it. Okay?"

Otto went white. Oh no. Oh... no.... He'd already told her. Sasha knew everything. "I'm sorry.." He murmured. Sorry for being a little b***h. Sorry for what he'd done. Sorry for how deep in s**t he was. "She knows."

Well, this was a complete waste of time.
"Ah, s**t." Maebe's face crumpled with anguish, and her hands pressed against her face in worry. "s**t, s**t, s**t." There was nothing else left to do. If he was in trouble, she couldn't save him anymore. He wasn't hers to save. She couldn't even have a conversation without him getting mad anymore. Her eyes sprung up with the glistening of oncoming tears, and she moved her hands from her face, to his. She held it there, gently, and pulled him close until his forehead touched her.
"I'm sorry too." Because she should have told him when it all happened, and she didn't. Now, there was nothing left to do. "Just be careful. Please, baby. Be careful."

The very instant that Otto pulled away from her, something snapped inside of Sasha. There were many feelings that she kept locked down tight, emotions that were messy and ugly and made her feel weak. Made her doubt herself. Made her feel like the stupid and foolish girl she'd been when she'd been fresh from the pod. She felt like that here and now, more pieces of her crumbling away when Otto turned and moved towards Maebe. The c**t. Sasha clenched her teeth so hard that her jaw ached. Maebe had a great many friends; she'd seen the woman interact with them on Twitter. Maebe was like America - it seemed as though everyone inherently wanted to be around them. Jealousy was bitter and acrid on the back of her tongue, but it turned sweeter as something unfurled deep inside of her. Perhaps it had always been there, unawakened. Her eyes did not leave Maebe's face. Her vision tunnelled, and Sasha's breathing quickened. She would not be second - and while this might all seem so utterly foolish to anyone around, to Sasha, it wasn't. She had suffered so much loss already courtesy of the island. Courtesy of Deus. Courtesy of being weak and stupid and foolish. No longer. She did not have many people left - Evan, perfectly obedient Evan -- and Otto, who had the Red Key - the key she could not afford to lose. Vengeance would be hers. She would see the b***h fall, and she would never have to worry about Otto being faced with unsavory decisions like this again. She would not have to worry about losing the Red Key. She would not have to worry about losing the power that was left in Scotland, untapped, waiting so very eagerly for her to claim it. She did not feel the hot trickle of blood drip from her nose; she did not feel it gloss her lip, and she did not notice when it bloomed where it landed against the silk of her blouse. Her eyes looked black, fathomless, and her teeth were bared. Yes, this would be so very, very sweet. Sasha launched herself at Maebe, shoving Otto out of the way. Claws out, the crimson of her own blood giving her an unholy sort of smile. Hungry, angry, vengeful. Deadly. Otto The Key would be hers, and she was not going to lose him it.

Her head slammed into Otto's when the claws pushed hard on her back, accidentally head butting him. She pulled away, turning to see Sasha - or some kind of black eyed, bloody version of the woman, lunging with her claws to try and pull Maebe away. She saw flashbacks of a moment she never wanted to remember, and her hands lifted up to protect her face from the assault. Within them, Thaw formed, flickering with a golden hue until he solidified into red and black runed metal. When he was with her, she felt protected. She felt stronger. She felt like cutting a b***h down to size. "No the hell you did not!" Maebe screeched, launching towards Sasha and pushing him into the air in order to stab her, repeatedly, with the prongs of her trident. Was this really what it had to come to? She'd never meant to start a fight. Would everyone had been better off if she'd just gone back to the old Maebe, and not cared if Otto was in danger? At least then, she wouldn't have to be fighting someone she'd once spent some very enjoyable hours with. She wouldn't have to be fighting someone else's war. She wished it was as easy to fall back into old habits as everyone said it was. She wished she could just turn it all off, and never care again. Instead, she was tearing down another hunter, even if she was exhibiting signs of otherworldy possession. None of this felt right. Damage: 12 ugh I just HP: 31 pinchmonster I NEVER MEANT TO START A WAR
