"Caterpie, use String Shot!" Once more, strands and strands of white silk spews forth and showers Blaze. The Growlithe is now a third covered in the sticky threads and struggles to move about.

"This isn't looking good. Blaze use Bite again!" He nods but is unable to move much. Just as he closes into even perform his move, the Caterpie just scoots away in a manner that seems like it had taunted Blaze.

"Tackle that hound, Caterpie!" The green little bug charges and leaps it to the air and tackles Blaze; smashing right into his face and left eye. Blaze was definitely hurting at this point and barely was able to stand up on all four. Caterpie takes notice at this closes in to make sure the next tackle will be the last to finish its foe off. "We have him now, Caterpie! Hit it again!" Without hesitation, the Caterpie tackles Blaze with all its little might.

Treize was getting worried not of losing the fight but for Blaze's well being. "Come on, buddy, hold on!" [What can I do? Blaze is hurting badly.] He starts to notice the Caterpie was being beyond the normal bounds of distance between itself and his pokemon. [I know what to do. I just hope Blaze can pull it off.] "Blaze, strike now while it's closest! Use Close Combat now!" Blaze perks his head up and musters all the strength he could to get up; breaking some of the strands encasing him. Caterpie tries to make an effort to make some distance between it and Blaze but it was far too close. A flurry of paw strikes and dust cloud surrounds the two as Blaze strikes back with great vengeance. As the dust settles, Caterpie drops to the floor and Blaze remains standing albeit breathing hard with one eye open. The victory goes to Treize and Blaze - first victory together.

"Aw no! I could swore I would win with them." pouted the Bug Catcher. Treize walks over to Blaze and frees him from the string shot threads. "There we go, buddy. Congratulations on your first victory!" Blaze lets out a few happy barks before licking Treize. "You good to walk, Blaze?" The Growlithe doesn't give Treize a second chance to second guess - immediate to spring back up despite how truly exhausted he was. Treize walks up to the Bug Catcher with a hand extended out for a shake. "It was a good fight. Almost had us there." he said with a smile. The Bug Catcher returns the hand shake with a smirk. "Maybe next time I should have brought more Caterpies." "Or maybe you could maybe branch off."

The Bug Catcher pondered a bit. "You're right. Maybe I should catch some Weedles!" Treize just looks to Growlithe and he just shook his head; laughing just a wee bit.

"What's so funny?"

"Oh nothing. Just do what you do best. See ya around!"

"Oh wait! Before you take off, here's your winning money. Take care!"

"Thanks a lot. We will."

Treize graciously takes the money as he and his pokemon make their way towards the Viridian Forest.

Kasiya's smile did not falter for even a second as she looked over at the mess of machinery and tubes that Mike was hooked up to. "They did get it from a Pokemon Center," she admitted, looking back at him. "Sasha and I explained it as best we could, but at least they were able to help you. I thought I overheard one of the doctors saying that it's a miracle that you're even still here with us... with me." Her cheeks flushed a bit and she looked down as Mike's hand found hers. "Not at all," she answered. "You're pleasantly warm, like touching Nitro, or Nova." She gently lifted their hands and kissed the back of Mike's. She could get used to this warmth, as he wasn't searing to the touch like he had been before.

Despite the hum of the machinery and the sound of doctors and nurses milling about in the background, she was content with the calm, as it was a drastic change to the chaos they had been a part of only hours ago. For a moment, everything felt safe and almost normal, even. She had a feeling that this calm wouldn't last, though, and she sighed, looking up at the brown-haired boy. "What happens now?" she asked. It felt like a silly question, but she was sure it was on Mike's mind, as well.

Fire-type attacks hadn't been Riza's worry until Jaden said it, and she realized stupidly that she should have been expecting it. After all, she'd taught Faustus how to use Flamethrower. "Try to get around it, and use your Ice Punch!" she called. Getting around a stream of fire wasn't easy though and the ice-type suffered a lot of damage in the process.

It was worth it though, as Akima's glowy, icy fist smashed into the side of the Dragonair's head and he reeled from the strike. He may had seen more battles than the Weavile but an ice-type attack was still super effective, and he knew another hit like that would probably knock him out. Jaden realized this as well and he gave an approving nod. Riza had raised her Sneasel into fine Weavile and he was quite proud of them both. But he had promised his sister a good match, and a good match she'd get. "Iron Tail, while Akima is close," he called. The large dragon-type gave a cry and lashed out with his long tail, the end glowing brightly.

"Akima, dodge!" Riza shouted, fearful for her poor Weavile. She was pretty fragile and couldn't take many hits, and though she tried, Akima was just too close. The Iron Tail crashed into her like a hammer and the force of it sent her flying back. "Akima, are you okay?" called Riza. Akima slowly got to her feet, teeth grit tightly. That Iron tail had packed a wallop and she was feeling a lot weaker than before. "Use Icy Wind again, keep your distance." Riza didn't want the Weavile getting too close to Dragonair again. Akima breathed in deeply and exhaled a cold burst of frigid air toward the dragon-type. All the while, Faustus watched curiously, finding himself to be a little wary of all the ice being thrown around by his teammate.

"Stay strong and use Thunder Wave," Jaden said. He couldn't help but watch Riza's Dratini and he wondered when and if he would evolve too. He also knew that Thunder Wave would really mess up the speedy Weavile if it were to hit her. The sleek dragon rose up and gave a cry, the horn on his head flashing and flaring with a burst of static electricity that spread out and headed for the Weavile.

Katie could tell quite easily that the little Solosis was quite fond of her as she displayed none of the aggressive behavior she had before. In fact she seemed quite friendly and docile and she wondered if perhaps it was just because she was new to the team and didn't know anyone else yet. Then again, if Darla really wasn't that teammate friendly, she could turn out to be a problem, especially when it came to double battles. Even still, she was glad to have a psychic-type on her team, especially since she knew the next gym coming up was a fighting-type dojo of sorts. She didn't know anything else about it though.

Before long she was at the entrance to Mt. Coronet, and she held Darla in her arms as they stood at the cave's opening. She could hear sounds coming from the cavern but nothing she could make out. Katie let out a sigh as she had been through here before, the time she brought that medicine to Hearthome City for the sick Pikachu. She did find it odd that she kept encountering the little yellow rodent everywhere considering how much she disliked it. "Well, here we go," she said, taking a deep breath as she walked into the cave. Last time, she had a bike and she seriously wished she had one now as it would make this trip easier. "Just as long as the Zubats stay the hell away from me, I'll be happy."

Naturally, no sooner had she taken several steps into the cave when she heard that tell tale screeching sound coming from above. It was a rather weak looking Zubat and it swooped down toward them. Darla made an annoyed sound and drifted upward, her whole body glowing before a pane of white light appeared in front of her. The Zubat had been coming in fast and it slammed up against the pane of light and bounced off, looking a bit dazed. Katie laughed out loud, realizing that the Solosis had used Reflect.

The Thunderbolt sailed through the air in a bright yellow arc and struck Empoleon hard, giving him a second major shock since his introduction to the battle. The steel/water-type groaned and fell to his knees, but he looked up, glaring over at his opponents as he slammed his razor sharp flippers on the ground and heaved himself up once again. His body had undertaken a shimmery, blue hue, and Jasmine knew that his Torrent ability had kicked in. His water-type moves would be super charged now, but it also meant that one more hit would bring him down, and bring Miharu one step closer to claiming a Mineral Badge. Their next hit had to be a hard one.

"Empoleon, use Surf!" Jasmine called. It was probably his best water-type attack after all. The large metal penguin raised his flippers and summoned a mighty wall of water, directing it at the Starmie. This would be his last hurrah and he wasn't going down without a fight!

Quite clueless as to where he'd go and what he'd do next, Keegan continued to distance himself from the hospital while managing to stop himself from looking back several times. For a while, he wandered aimlessly, not paying any attention to where he was going until he stopped in front of the Lilycove City Contest Hall. He raised his cigarette (his fourth since leaving the hospital) to his lips and enjoyed a long drag as he recalled the events surrounding the gala. For an event he almost always dreaded with every fiber of his being, this year's wasn't all that bad. Having Riza on his arm for at least a part of it had certainly helped, and he couldn't help but smirk at the thought of the raven-haired girl. She always spoke her mind and didn't seem to care what anyone thought of it, and he couldn't help but admire that about her. He was well aware of how the night had ended though and he gave his head a shake to clear away those thoughts. He already felt guilty enough for that, and constantly reminding himself of it only seemed to worsen it.

The redhead finally tore himself away from the building, having finished his cigarette in the meantime. He almost immediately reached into his pocket to light a new one, but he hesitated, only mildly aware of the fact that he was slowly becoming a chain smoker. After wrestling with his conscience for a few moments, it finally won out over him and he jammed the pack back into his coat pocket, muttering to himself as he walked along. He hardly noticed that people seemed to go out of their way to avoid him, going so far as to even cross the street just so they didn't have to pass him. When he did notice, he didn't care; he'd just avoid eye contact completely and quicken his pace.

Eventually Keegan found himself at the Lilycove Pokemon Center, which was almost a welcome sight. He stepped through the sliding doors and almost instantly felt a little better. It helped that the nurse behind the desk greeted him with a smile, and even if it was part of her job to be friendly and cheerful, Keegan opted to pretend that she was genuinely happy to see him, as he suddenly didn't feel so welcome around most other people right now.
=====
The Surf attack was indeed quite powerful, even with Starrie resisting it and the Mysterious Pokemon was knocked back from the wave. Miharu desperately wanted to call for her Starmie to use Recover, as she knew that Empoleon's attacks couldn't cause too much damage, but she also wanted to bring down the Water/Steel-type and force Jasmine down to her last two Pokemon. "Hit it with Psychic," she called. It was a rather reliable attack, though she silently prayed she wouldn't regret using Recover. Starrie's red core gem began to shine a bright red as it unleashed a burst of powerful psychic energy, aimed for the Empoleon for what Miharu hoped would be the finishing blow.

"A miracle." Mike repeated. In the past few days, he had no shortage of people (and flaming birds) telling him how important and special he was. Coming from most of them, it was kind of annoying. Most of them.

"Now," he said, the end of the word trailing off. "Now, I think I might sleep." he nodded. "Yeah, some sleep. I haven't been doing a lot of that lately." Mike furrowed his brow as he talked, faking a serious expression. "After that, I don't really know. Hopefully not end up in jail, or..." he sucked in a soft breath. "You know. Back there." he exhaled.

"If I can manage to stay free long enough, maybe I'll find a way to renew my trainer's license and just keep plugging along on my Gym challenge. I think something normal might be just what I need. Maybe we could maraud the country side and stomp some trainers. We do make quite the team, after all." he looked over at Kasiya. "That being said, if you are going to be getting Shocker back anytime soon, you know I'll be right beside you. I'll drag these machines if I have to." he smiled. "I'm kind of developing a knack for disrupting evil organizations. I'm thinking of putting it on my resume." Mike gave her hand a light squeeze. looking her in the eyes. "I know I say it all the time, but I'm always here if you need me." A broken record maybe, but with how crazy everything had been, he felt it needed to be said one more time.

“Lost him?” Robin asked curiously, not sure what was going on here exactly. “Who did you lose? Your dad?” The little girl was still bawling in front of Robin so she wrapped her up quickly in a hug after shoving Luffy off of her and putting Zuko on the ground. “Hey, hey it’s ok, tell me who is gone, maybe I can help you look?”

The girl seemed to calm down after a second though she was still hiccupping and tears still fell. “I lost him! I lost Mr. Bunny in there!” She pointed over to the odd entrance that seemed to lead into some sort of park.

Looking over Robin frowned slightly not sure where that lead exactly. “Well, come on, let’s go look for him then.” She said with a grin. What kind of person would she be if she didn’t stop to help the kid, ok so she was busy but that meant she would just have to run to the next town instead of walk! Getting up she held her hand out to the kid and gave her a happy smile.

The girl looked up at her and gave her a small frown. “Mommy says I am not supposed to go with strangers.” She muttered before looking back at the gate longingly. “Besides we can’t get in.” She sounded really sad about that last bit.

“Can’t get back in? What do you mean?” Robin frowned at that. It was Ampersand who pipped in and answered her question.

“That’s Amity park. You walk around with your pokemon, it’s sort of an exclusive club. They only let trainers in with cute pokemon or something. I was never quite sure. “ Ampersand commented rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

“My pokemon are cute.” Robin huffed. She didn’t like the look Ampersand gave her at that comment, the little girl though looked like she was brightening up at Robin’s words. “How about we go to the pokemon center and you can tell me if my pokemon are cute enough to get in and look for Mr. Bunny?” That and Robin was now kicking herself over the fact that she had completely forgotten to visit there in the first place. Taking the little girls hand the small trio of humans and two pokemon made their way to the pokemon center.

~~~~~~~
“Well even if that was your last pokemon isn’t there anyone else around that we can battle? Seriously battle?” That last part was directed at Dante with a small glare.
“Well… There is someone. I don’t know if you will want to disturb them though.” The wrestler had an uneasy look on his face as he mentioned this other person.
“Well go get them.” Angelic shooed him off before rounding on Dante her hands on her hips. “Now what was up with that battle? You shouldn’t have sent her out there! Even if she is a little monster!” The look she was giving him was enough to make even him feel even more guilty.
“Yeah yeah. I figured that out when you first yelled at me.” Dante muttered shrinking in on himself a bit. “ Look I promised to take the rest of these battles seriously didn’t I?” Maybe that would get him out of trouble?
“You better.” She muttered before turning around and stalking off into the gym some more.
“Aren’t we going to wait?” Dante muttered following her. Not that he really wanted to encounter the man again, or get into another battle.
“Why wait? If we get to the gym leader first then you don’t have to battle them.” Angelic explained as if Dante was an idiot. He was starting to feel that way to as he followed her. Really the more he got to know her the less of a princess she seemed and more of some sort of con-artist or something, he needed to watch his back. The two of them didn’t make it far though as the wrestler and a severe looking man appeared.
“I thought you said you defeated them.” The man barked at the wrestler who flinched at his tone.
“Well I sort of did. He didn’t want to win so he sent out a super weak pokemon.”
“His super weak pokemon almost beat his Machop to.” Angelic shot back with a raised eyebrow.
The severe looking man shot a glare at the wrestler and hit him over the back of his head. “You almost lost to his weakest pokemon? You are a gym trainer have some pride!” The man then turned towards Dante and eyed him. “You are strong trainer?”
“I like to think so.” Dante said shrugging. How were you supposed to answer that?
“No, you are either strong or weak! Your indecision and lack of conviction means you are weak like this one here.” The man cast a glare at his fellow gym trainer. “Come we shall battle to determine if you are really strong.” With that the man turned and entered one of the nearby arenas.
~~~~~~~~~~

The loud laughter of the steel type gym leader could be heard over the phone. “I look forward to that battle. Now good luck to you in facing my son. You are going to need it.” With that the man hung up and Roark sighed as he put away his phone. “A gym battle right? Ok then we can do that. How does a three on three pokemon battle sound? No items, you can switch but I cannot.” Roark grinned as he turned around and headed off to the gym leader side of the battlefield. “Of course if you aren’t ready then that’s fine.” Grabbing a pokeball from his belt he tossed it up and caught it. He already knew who he was going to use first.

The redhead had retreated to a seat by the window while his team of Pokemon received some well-deserved treatment. He couldn't help but relive all the fights and battles they'd just been through in his mind, and he sighed. He had held his own pretty well, yet he couldn't help but feel like the others had outshone him. He had taken out the white Premier Ball again and was rolling it along his fingers, but the mindless action was not helping him to sort through all the unpleasant thoughts that were currently running rampant in his head. He didn't want to think about what Mike and Kasiya might be talking about right now, or worse yet, what they might be doing. He was definitely sick of always being the romantic runner-up with every girl he was interested in, especially since it always seemed to be Mike he was losing to.

Once his Pokemon had been healed, he retrieved them from the nurse, even managing a half-hearted smile in return. As he was returning each sphere to his belt, he realized that he now carried seven Pokemon. He figured it would probably be a good idea to start training the little Axew, especially if he wanted to raise it into the powerful-looking Haxorus he'd seen in the PokeDex. It was probably a good idea to raise his other Pokemon, as well, and after some deliberation, he went through the annoying process of changing his party around. Despite vowing to never let Helios leave his party ever again, he knew the Ninetales could use a good rest after today and he reluctantly deposited the fox, along with all of his other Pokemon. He found it a little hard to believe that he now had twelve Pokemon in all, so it worked out rather well as he managed a complete party-change, minus Alvero. As much as he was starting to hate the Skarmory, he knew it was best to keep training with the Armor Bird as well.

With that sorted out, Keegan headed back outside, fully intent on heading off and starting a new training regime. If anything like today was to ever happen again, he wouldn't be outdone again. At least, in theory that is what he wanted to do. In actuality, all Keegan really wanted right now was to go back home, crash into his own bed, and sleep for a solid month. He began to walk again, debating on whether he'd rather risk his life flying with Alvero or if he should take the safe route and just bike home, but before he could come to a solid decision, he found his path to be blocked. He'd been staring at the ground as he walked so when his gaze settled upon a pair of bright, gaudy sneakers, he stopped, glaring up at their owner. "Get out of my way," he said somewhat calmly.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2012 9:21 am

The owner of the obnoxiously loud sneakers blinked in surprise at the redhead's surly demand, but he did not move. "Relax, guy. I'm not gonna like, mug you or anything. I was only going to challenge you to a battle," he said, giving a shrug. "I mean, you are a trainer, right?"

Keegan sighed, and looked away. "Yeah, I'm a trainer." To say that his tone lacked enthusiasm was a severe understatement. He'd almost forgotten what it was like to have a normal day as a regular, normal trainer, but even still, he really didn't feel like battling.

"Oh, cool," the boy said, grinning. "I challenge you to a battle, then. Let's go!" He had already produced a PokeBall and looked ready to throw it at any given time.

The redhead rolled his eyes, and finally looked over at the trainer. He had somewhat messy, dark blue hair and an oddly matching blue tracksuit, with a horrible, ugly orange stripe. Keegan thought he looked far too ridiculous to be a trainer, but he figured he'd best keep that bit to himself. "Nah," he said, shaking his head. "Don't feel like it."

The trainer's goofy grin faded, and his hand dropped to his side. "What do you mean, 'nah'?" he demanded. "You can't say nah!"

Keegan scoffed. "Uh, yeah. I can, and I am. Look, I'm not up to battling right now, so just leave me alone. It's a big city, go find someone else to battle."

"That's not how this works," the trainer retorted. "It's like, a rule of being a trainer! If you're challenged to battle, you have to accept!" Without waiting for another response from the redhead, the trainer released a Pokemon. For all his eagerness, his Pokemon was a little disappointing, at least in Keegan's eyes.

"A Nuzleaf?" he asked, unable to mask his disappointment. "Seriously?"

Kasiya gave a knowing nod as Mike mentioned sleep, as she was pretty certain that their whole group could easily use a solid night's worth. She herself hadn't been sleeping all that well, but she couldn't even begin to imagine how Mike must be feeling. "Yes," she said, giving his hand a gentle squeeze in return. "You definitely need to rest up. Give your body a chance to at least start healing."

She looked down at the white sheets of the hospital bed, brow furrowed slightly. She did not need to ask him what he meant by "back there" nor did she elaborate on her own. She was certain those memories were still fresh enough in both of their minds that neither of them needed a reminder. The idea, however, of returning to the life of a normal trainer seemed so strange, as it had been quite a while since any of them had done anything that could be labeled as normal. She also couldn't help but recall the way Blaine had pretty much dismissed her back when they had first introduced themselves, and she frowned a bit. The prospect of heading back to Cinnabar Island and showing the Fire-type master just what she was capable of was definitely enticing.

"I'm sure it'll all work out," she murmured, giving another small nod. It was also hard not to smile at the mention of the two of them ravaging the countryside with their battling skills, as to this day, they were still undefeated when they'd paired up for battle. When Mike mentioned Shocker, she felt a pang in her chest and clinging to his hand was virtually all she could do to keep herself from bursting into tears. "I don't know what I'm going to do about her," she said, her voice cracking a little. "From what little I've been able to find out, Mai doesn't have her anymore, which means she's either been handed over to Giovanni, or I don't know what."

She looked up at Mike, and managed a small smile. No matter how many times he said it, it always felt reassuring to hear him say that he would always be there for her. For a quick moment, things seemed to be looking up, but then something else that he had said finally sunk in. "Wait. What do you mean, renew your trainer's license? What happened to it?" she asked incredulously. "Did... did they take it away?"

Zorua let out a fierce little bark as she darted toward Totodile, her movements somewhat staggered as she closed in on the gator. When she drew near enough, she vaulted forward and lashed out with her left paw, leaving a set of small, red scratches on the water type's belly. Totodile cried out and stepped back, blinking in surprise. Zorua barked again, this time in victory, though Totodile certainly didn't seem to share in the little fox's enthusiasm. Jasper couldn't help but laugh, as she was certainly living up to her title as the Tricky Fox.

The two Paras, meanwhile, were still circling each other, though their half-assed swipes had evolved into actual attacks, and out of the corner of his eye, Jasper saw Paras sneak in and lay a nasty-looking cut down on Ditto's face and he grinned. Slowly but steadily, the Mushroom Pokemon was beginning to grow a backbone, and it would only be a matter of time before he wouldn't let himself be pushed around anymore. Ditto, though none too pleased about the painful attack he'd suffered, also appeared quite supportive of its teammate, shimmering back to a blue blob in order to give Paras a thumbs-up, or as close to one as the gooey Pokemon could manage.

Totodile and Zorua hadn't given up the task that Jasper had previously given them, though Totodile was making much more of an effort to dodge Zorua's scratches than anything else. The younger Pokemon was eager to keep trying though, as her intensity seemed to grow every time the gator was able to dance safely out of harm's way. A few times, Jasper noted Totodile using her Dragon Dance to give herself a speed advantage, but she seemed to be enjoying herself. "Hey Zorua, why don't you give that Extrasensory of yours a try?" he called. Totodile, meanwhile, braced herself, puffing out her chest and cheeks, though she looked more ridiculous than imposing. Zorua gave a nod and focused on the water type, her bright blue eyes shining bright with an almost pinkish glow. The same aura spread out to Totodile and she gave a cry as the psychic energy seemed to attack her from all sides. The gator shrugged it off after a few seconds, but she knew she was lucky the little Zorua was still so young, otherwise that attack might have hurt a lot more.

Ivy was now perched on Hayley's shoulder as the two wandered in the forest, not entirely sure of their direction. It didn't help that Hayley had her nose in her Pokedex and was looking up the future moves that her newest Pokemon would someday learn. "Ooh, it shouldn't be too long until you learn how to use the Vine Whip," she said, pointing at the screen as though the Snivy understood. "Having a grass type move will make that gym even easier." All Ivy could really do was nod, as she wasn't entirely sure what her trainer was going on about. Feeling a little more confident now that she knew more about her new Pokemon, Hayley closed the little red device and slipped it back into her bag. "Well, we should probably try to figure out where we are. We chased that Pikachu and went off the main trail, so I wonder if she should start to make our way back? Kressen and Alex might be wondering where we are."

"Snivy," Ivy replied with a shrug. She felt quite at home in the forest so she didn't really care all that much. She was certain she could hear something, though, and she pointed her little hand. "Vee!"

"Oh, do you see something?" the brunette asked, looking in the direction her Pokemon was indicated. Naturally, neither her nor Ivy were expecting for Kressen to have found his way up a tall tree, so neither of them were looking high enough to spot the redhead. "Hello?" Hayley called. "Kressen? Alex? Are you guys out there?"

Kressen looked about for the location of Hayley's voice and spotted the trainer and her Snivy a few yards ahead and below him. "Oh, there you two are. We managed to catch that Caterpie. I hope you had the same luck with that Pikachu you saw." He waved at them, before he began his descent.

Descent being defined as crawling down a few feet before dropping down to the forest floor with a soft thud. He grabbed his pack and headed over to the duo with Gigas hot on his trail. He didn't know where Alex went, but simply assumed the little blond had followed Hayley and he just hadn't seen her yet.

"Good work, everyone," Jasper said, figuring it was about time to give the group of Pokemon a break. Ditto and Paras were looking quite tired, and probably a little sore from the flurry of claw swipes they'd exchanged, and Zorua was looking almost a little sleepy herself. The only exception was Totodile, who was still bursting with energy. She was currently practicing her Water Gun by shooting it at targets painted on the wall, and Jasper was certain that her aim and power had improved quite a bit. He gathered up the group and ushered them into the Pokemon Center for a good round of healing, and he wondered if Jett and Scarlet had started either of their matches against Bugsy yet. The thought made him realize that he wanted to start collecting gym badges as well, if anything to prove that he could be as tough as anybody. Sure, he hadn't exactly signed up for this gig, but when opportunity knocked, he'd learned at an early age that you damned-well better answer.

As he waited for his team to be healed, Jasper studied a map of the Johto region stapled to the wall. He wanted to put off the Azalea gym for a while, so that meant that the two nearest gyms were located in Goldenrod City and Violet City. Now he'd heard of the gym leader in Goldenrod and he knew she wasn't someone to be trifled with so he focused on Violet City. He also couldn't help but notice the region connected to Johto; Kanto. It had its own set of gyms and leaders, and it was highly likely that there would be all kinds of different Pokemon to be found. The only catch was it was quite far away, as he'd probably have to take a ferry or the train to get there. It seemed the first gym was located in Pewter, however, so taking the train would leave him in either Saffron or Celadon, both quite a distance. 'Ferrying from Olivine to Cinnabar would be all right, then I could catch a quick ride up to Pallet,' he thought, scratching his chin. A chime sounded, and Jasper looked up. His Pokemon were ready.

"Thank you," he said, accepting the four Pokeballs from the nurse.

"You're welcome," the nurse replied cheerfully.

Jasper turned to leave, but another thought crossed his mind. "Say, how's that Koffing doing?" he asked, mostly out of curiosity.

"Oh, she's doing just fine," the nurse nodded. "She's over here if you want to see her."

Jasper shook his head, and took a step back. "Nah, that's all right," he said, raising his hands. "I've got to get going anyway." He gave a small wave before turning and leaving the center, trying to quash the small feeling of guilt that was building up inside of him.

"Hmm?" Hayley looked up, now spotting the large redhead perched high atop a tree. "Oh, hey," she called, waving back, though she grimaced a little as Kressen started to climb down from his perch. "Be careful on the way-" She was cut off as Kressen only managed to climb down a few feet before he lost his grip and fell to the ground. "-down," she finished, wincing. He must have been all right, however, as he got up rather quickly and was even able to pick up his ginormous backpack.

"Ooh, you did catch it! Congratulations!" she beamed. "The Pikachu got away, but that's okay. I'm sure we'll see it again. I wasn't really trying to catch it, mostly I just want to meet a Pikachu and sketch a nice picture. They're really cute but really fast," she said, letting out a breath. "Oh, hey, that was quite a fall," she said, still a bit worried. "Are you okay?" Ivy, meanwhile, was blatantly going out of her way to avoid being near Gigas the Charmander and what she deemed as a very, dangerous flaming tail.

'Oh crap,' was the only thing Riza could think of as the Thunder Wave closed in on Akima, moving far too quickly for her to dodge. The electricity coursed over her and the Weavile cried out as her body suddenly felt much heavier and sluggish than it did before. Her greatest asset had been taken away in the blink of an eye, and both she and her trainer gave a small growl. "Try to get in there and strike with a Faint Attack," Riza said, doing her best to calm down. She knew very well Jaden was a strong trainer and if anything, he was showing her just how much further she had to go in her training. Akima got to her feet and dashed forward, vanishing in a wisp of darkness. She appeared again a moment later, behind the Dragonair and she lashed out with her sharp claws.

'Even paralyzed that Weavile is pretty dangerous,' Jaden thought, glancing over at Riza's Dratini. Little Faustus had been paying close attention to his older brother and he certainly wasn't disappointed. "Use Iron Tail!" Jaden called. Okay, he hadn't planned on going all-out, but he'd underestimated his baby sister just a bit. Reeling from the strike, Dragonair leaned back and raised his tail, ready to slam it down like an iron fist onto the already weakened Akima.

The Zubat was definitely more irritated than hurt and it flapped its wings and once again got airborne, shooting what could only be a nasty look in Darla's direction. Katie found this odd, considering the bat Pokemon had no real eyes to speak of, but regardless she dug out her pokedex and quickly brought up the Solosis' entry. Aside from Reflect it seemed that she could also use Psywave and of course, her Astonish attack. "Why don't you try a Psywave?" the orange haired girl suggested. "You probably don't want to get too close to that thing, anyway."

The Solosis cooed in agreement, drifting back a few feet. Her eyes narrowed and began to glow, and soon she unleashed an odd wave of psychic energy at the Zubat. Perhaps it was still a bit dazed from running headlong into the Reflect as the Psywave struck true, causing the bat to give a pained shriek. It also seemed to be snapped back to attention as it sped at Darla once again, this time getting through the barrier and managing to sink its fangs into the psychic-type's plushy body. 'Leech Life,' Katie thought as the bat drained away some of Darla's health. "Try your Shadow Ball on it!" she called quickly.

Darla managed to shake herself free and once again she drifted back. Her whole, round body became enveloped in a shadowy aura and she gave a cry. The aura shot off her and shifted to a dark orb which flew off toward the Zubat, though it missed by a decent amount.

The Psychic attack would be difficult, and if not impossible to dodge, but by this point, Empoleon was just far too tired and the psychic blast hit him hard. He collapsed heavily, and this time he did not get back up again. Jasmine gave a little sigh, but she offered a smile over at her challenger. Two of her four Pokemon were down, while Miharu still had three. Well, that was about to change, if her next Pokemon had anything to say about it.

The gym leader recalled her fallen Empoleon and said nothing as she tossed out her next sphere, revealing a three-eyed magnet that was already dangerously crackling with electricity. "Magneton, let's show them we're not out yet! Hit that Starmie with your Thunderbolt!" The Magnet Pokemon droned noisily and it flashed brightly with electricity as it sent a large bolt of lightning toward the Starmie.

"Hey hey." Mike said as he saw Kasiya's composure start to break down. "None of that, okay?" He placed his hand on her back and gave it a gentle rub. "No more breakdowns. Some jerk already used 'em all up and we can't fit any more into the budget." He squeezed back with his hand. "I promise we'll get her back." Mike's voice was soft and confident, in stark contrast to Kasiya's.

Amusing role reversal. chuckled a ghost. You two truly do work off of each other.

Mike shrugged at Kasiya's question. "I can only assume they took it away after the party. Can't say I blame them.' To be honest, he just kind of threw the idea of getting his license back out there. He had no idea how he would ever manage to do that.

Can't use Maxie as a bargaining chip.

"The only way I was able to get my Pokemon is that my mom also has access to my account and I know her password. I could keep doing that, but I'm pretty sure someone would catch on eventually." He shrugged again. He hadn't been playing by the rules for a while now, so it wouldn't be much of a switch, but it would be nice to not have to constantly by looking over his shoulder for a change. "You'll just have to protect me." Mike said coyly. "What do you say? Up for the challenge?" he smirked, a hint of devious intentions hidden in his expression.

"Honey?" a distant voice called out from the hallway. Seconds later, a mop of frizzy black hair and glasses popped into the room, followed by the rest of Karen Kyoka. "Sweetie I got your-" she stopped in the doorway as she saw her son and Kasiya in the middle of a pretty obvious moment. With a loose grasp on social norms, or that 'moments' tend to prefer privacy, she walked right in. "I got your Pokemon!" she continued, walking over and placing the mangled mess of fabric that once clung proudly to the title of 'backpack' at the foot of the bed. "Hello, Kasiya." she said sweetly.

Mike blinked a few more times than necessary.

Swell.

The blonde-haired girl gave a sigh and closed her eyes, finding her worry and anxiety to ease a bit from Mike's gentle touch. She managed a small smile, and wanted to say something clever in response, but her brain was far too tired to do anything but just stay there, content to have Mike right there beside her. "I know we will," she answered quietly, even if she wasn't sure how that would happen. "Everything will get back to normal." She glanced over at all the special machinery the boy was hooked up to, and giggled a little. "Well, as normal as can be expected, anyway."

She listened quietly as Mike explained how he still had access to his Pokemon and she nodded, wondering if she should set up some sort of contingency plan for if she ever needed quick access to her Pokemon. She glanced up at him and smirked right back in reply before giving another quick nod. "You bet," she said, reaching her other hand up and gently brushing her fingers against his cheek.

It was difficult not to jump as quite unexpectedly, Mrs Kyoka made her presence known, and being not entirely certain how to react to being burst in on by a parent, the blonde practically jumped to her feet, the redness that crept into her cheeks enough to rival that of a popular, yellow electric rodent. "H-hi, Mike's mom - er - I mean, Mrs Kyoka," she said quickly, her voice awkward and a bit high-pitched. Her head inclined slightly, at least until she saw the remnants of fabric that were only barely recognizable as Mike's backpack placed on the bed. She hadn't realized just how mangled the thing had become. "I, um, we, were just talking," she said quickly, finding it very difficult to make eye-contact with both Mike and his mother.
