( 12-4 )+( 10-8 ) = 10 /2 = 5 ! 5 damage to Phoebe! Like that, what little damage Phoebe had done to the babbling Mushroom was completely erased. Furthremore, she could feel her strength drain out as the Foongus used that strange attack against her. Her poisonous constitution gave her a bit more hardiness than one would have expected, but it still hurt. And now, she couldn't even move! Though she struggled to lift her claws, it was like her own body was a prison, holding her down. If she could just...
But whatever Phoebe "could just" wish to do would have to wait. For Vanni had finally returned her attention from the strange fossil to her poison rabbit, and she didn't like what she was seeing. It seemed she'd made a miscalculation... oh, how she wished she'd tried that Mirage Arena before she'd left for the mission! Her poor starter was easily her weakest Pokemon, which should not be. With a flick of her wrist, she recalled the Nidoran, and a familiar firedog would take her place.
Culann shook his head, a little surprised to be out again so soon. Was Vanni actually consistently fighitng Pokemon? That would be a first. Instinctively, the Growlithe went on the defensive.
((uh, yeah. I think I'm doing this right? If not, just tell me, and I'll edit.))

((All is well, good, and right with your post have no fear~!))
The moment the Poison-Type was swapped with the flame dog the Foongus's eyes twinkled. One could practically seen the black border and actions lines near her face! ">You!<" She declared dramatically, promptly hopping forward ">Red fur...< She muttered, placing a hand near Culann ">...higher than average body temperature...<" The Foongus sniffed lightly ">...faint stench of sulphur...<" The muttering continued as the Pokemon's eyes shifted across her opponents form ">It is my conclusion that you...ARE A FIRE-TYPE! No less a Growlithe!<" The poisonous mushroom declared dramatically, abruptly zipping behind Culann and roughly pulling his tail up in a manner similar to what she'd done to Phoebe ">A MALE ONE!<" As always her deductive reasoning was flawless. Utterly flawless! ">Further still you are a companion of the interloper! That being the case I can only say that you must...STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!<" She declared, releasing another cloud of yellow spores on to the field. Another Stun Spore meant to put the cuffs on her opponent!

The Foongus's Stun Spore would miss, but just barely-- Culann couldn't help halting in surprise as the mushroom went about her strange assetment. Unlike Phoebe, he didn't squeak when he was, er, violated, but rather simply stared. The action was not particularly embarasing for him-- of course he was male-- but mainly baffling. [... lunatics. I am surrounded by lunatics.] Yes, that was the only conclusion possible in this situation... a conclusion he was becoming all too comfortable with. He gave his fur a shake, feeling mildly annoyed. Oh well[. At least he knew how to deal with this lunatic. With a low growl, he rushed at the Foongus, bringing a Flare Blitz to light!

">Fire<" The first word from Foongus's mouth would be a simple statement, followed by a shrill cry ">FIIIIRE!!!<" Arms flailing the poisonous shroom would rush towards the river of sewage beside the path; but rather then leaping in head first she'd grab at the handle of a rust old bucket, hefting it's weight and shifting her own to swing it up and forward ">PUT OUT THE FIRE!!!<" It would seem she was attempting to douse the blaze with sewer water!

+1 to Foongus's Defense!
Culann would stop mid-charge as the sewer water splashed over him, completely drenching the dog and his flames. He paused, the very image of a soaked dog, and could her his trainer giggle slightly in the background. He grumbled, shaking himself off and bursting into flames... somewhat. It dried him out entirely, but the strench of sewage still lingered. Grand. Annoyed and unwilling to banter, the Growlithe pressed on, snarling with a Flare Blitz born of frustration!

"FIRE! FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE!!!<" The Foongus screamed while frantically hopping about, flailing her arms about. It would be a snap decision which would halt her fearful display. In an instant the Foongus would pivot, hurling the rust old bucket towards Culann's head. When that ultimately failed she'd begin panicking again, lowering her bulbous head and releasing a thick cloud of spores. She was now attempting to smother the flames with Stun Spore!
((20-2)+(13-9)+5) = 27 * 2 = 54 Damage! 20 - 54 = -34 HP! Foongus is probably super dead! Culann takes 10 damag! Culann is at 9/19! ((... well, that's a hell of a thing. Did I do the calculations right?))
Vanni would have to stumble back int surprise, shielding her eyes from the blast. Culann made contact with the Foongus, unlike his earlier attempt, and it was a blaze like no other. Perhaps it was a combination of the strange poison-types sproes, the pollutants in the sewage, and the Growlithe's own rage, but Culann and his opponent would almost literally explode. The sewer lit up like the night sky during a fireworks festival, and the trainer found herself blinded. She could only wait for the light to die down, and get her bearings.
Nothing. When Vanni was last able to see again she would see Culann and little else. What remained of the Foongus was little more than a scorch mark on the floor. At least that certainly explained the Poison-Type's concern about the presence of open flame!

Culann: Level 4 --> Level 5!
It took Vanni a couple seconds of blank staring to understand exactly what had occurred, and when she did, she felt the bottom of her stomach drop out. This was the second-- no, third time one of her Pokemon had killed another. The second time for Culann himself-- she remembered that fierce battle with the Krokorok, who admittedly probably would have hurt they all had the Growlithe not put him out of their misery. This time, though, the death had been completely unnecessary, and she could only put the blame on herself for not giving better orders. What kind of trainer was she, killing Pokemon willy-nilly? Maybe the Academy valued that sort of thing in their students, but she-- they-- couldn't hold with that. Life had to have some value.
She glanced around the scene of the crime. This time, unlike the incident with the Archen, there wasn't even a body to pay some respect. Vanni reached up to tip her hat, only to realize she'd left it back with the rest of her clothes when she change into the Power Plant uniform. Clenching her fists, she sighed again, and nodded to the air. "I'm very sorry, Miss Foongus. I wish..." But of course, her apology would be heard by no one but a particularly dazed Growlithe, and rung out hollow in the sewer system.
Well, at she still felt guilt over the death. Vanni wasn't quite as far as she had been when the Incident occurred. The voice, which had been fairly silent since the Dream World event and beyond, reached out with a soft mental murmur of we aren't her, it will be okay, keep moving. The girl nodded, forcing steel back into her resolve, and walked over to her dizzy Pokemon.
Culann, meanwhile, was completely oblivious to his trainer's existential crisis! With good reason; the explosion and the chemicals in the air where enough to send any Pokemon or person reeling, and he was right in the heart of it. He hadn't even noticed his slight increase in power, as the fumes swirled around him. They would finally dissapated as his trainer knelt down beside him, fussing over his injures. ['mfine, lass,] he tried to remark, clearly the opposite.
"Open up," she said primly, and her Pokemon obliged, swallowing the Sweet Heart and turning to full health. He would be needed for when they found the blasted Joltiks, and full health was a must. Rising up, she recalled him with a nod, and began once again down the sewer line.
Proceeding forward Vanni would find her path coming to an abrupt end, along with the beginning of a goof fifty to seventy foot drop straight down.
Water would gush out from the sewage canal, striking a series of water-wheels below, rotating them and delivering power to a rusted and ancient generator sitting on the surface of a luminescent green lake of water based waste. It was a rather crafty set up by the founders centuries prior.
The girl would find her way down to the generator was through a series of maintenance pathways suspended high above the lake. Varying widely, the platforms consistent of stairs, ladders, and a number of flat places to stand. Static hung heavy in the air here.

Vanni's cane lightly tapped along the ground as she walked, alerting her to that point at which there was no more ground to walk on. Carefully, she maneuvered her way across the strange industrial landscape. In some way, the whole situation was rather impressive, and somewhat fascinating. Still, one probably shouldn't stare at the glowing green radioactive waste for too long; it occasionally gave you super powers, but also occasionally blinded you or gave you cancer. Or in one instance, turned you into a Sligoo. The petite trainer slowly began her way towards the generator with measured steps.

Despite-- or perhaps, because of-- the unsteady ground, Vanni was loathe to give up her cane. For a replacement for her beloved parasol, it had served her very well during her journey. Her steps were soft, hardly a noise in this strange place. So as she pulled herself up over the ladder, she was careful to balance all her items.

After a bit of fancy footwork, Vanni found herself off the ladder and on top of a platform. It had been the best way to go, having checked the map several times before choosing this path, but the thick ropes of wire, steel, and cable was a bit intimidating. At least this odd meshed pathway had handrails. Having tested the metal and found it relatively firm, she kept walking.

The small trainer could swear she felt the strangely sonorous hum of the generator and the rushing waste in her bones. It was a little nerve-wracking, she had to admit, being this far down by herself. Well, not entirely by herself; her pokemon where with her, which was a heartening thought. But being "deep in the bowels" of anything was always a daunting prospect, doubly so when the place in question was the Academy.
Vanni would find that the 'relative' silence of her surroundings would abruptly be disturbed by the teeth rattling creak of old metal, followed shortly by the loud clang of metal against metal. Off to the side two of the platforms had begun swinging dangerously, crashing in to the other platforms and their cables nearest them, and most importantly each other. Sparks began to fly through the air, and after a rather sharp change in direction would begin dancing along the left railing of the platform of which she presently stood. A high pitched laugh similar in a way to a small motor filled the air along with the natural sounds of sparking metal...and suddenly the platform began to swing back and forth. It would seem Vanni was now meant to deal with whatever had struck the other platforms!
