Pansage took the other hit, and gasped in surprise. Fury Cutter hurt twice as much the second time around, and even more so for the Grass type pokemon. It fell onto the ground and rolled away, dodging a few of Dali's slices. But it had run out of momentum and Dali was still after the grass monkey.
"Catch the blade!" Cilan ordered urgently. They had reset Fury Cutter's hit count by dodging a blow. But he couldn't let Dali start building up more power again.
Pansage reached up and clapped down onto Dali's shell with both hands as the Oshawott swung, stopping the blade just before it struck him on the head.
With a quick jerk to the side, he'd attempt to wrestle the shell blade out of Dali's hands and throw it away onto the ground. Regardless on whether or not he succeeded, afterwards he'd try to use Bite on Dali's arm to knaw at the pokemon.
**** Salieri rolled her eyes. "I don't mean it like that," she muttered. "...and you are a little bit weird." That last part was under her breath. "I mean he's obsessed with them, Wayne."
But she trailed off as they entered the Dreamyard. The ruins were still impressive. The potential that the terrain offered for training exercises was making her excited, as well as Wayne's adrenaline amping her up. She soon completely forgot about N in favor of more pokemon training.
"Chen Zhen, Liuye!" she called out while releasing her two other pokemon. Chen Zhen recognized Wayne from earlier and waved up at the other trainer while announcing his name, and Liuye was quiet as always.
"Pretty cool, right?" she asked Wayne, wanting his opinion. "It's says no trespassing, but I'm pretty sure this place is completely abandoned." Of course it was abandoned. What kind of work could be done in somewhere this wrecked up?

"Water gun!" Eunmi smirked. "Follow up with another round of Fury Cutter!"
Dali spat a blast of water right into the Pansage's face as it gripped onto his shell. The water-type had learned very quickly from it's training with Eunmi that this shell was his greatest tool, and kept a very firm hold on it. Using the force of the blast to also propel himself backwards, he twisted the shell out of Pansage's oven-mit hands, slicing down with a Fury Cutter to slash at the Pokemon's probably now-open palm. Then, he stepped forward as the second strike of Fury Cutter aimed at the Pansage's chest (or mouth if it tried to bite him).
Eunmi held her tongue. In sparring matches, she would cheer for her teammates in combat, but she suddenly felt very aware about getting overly excited. She acknowledged the similarities between Pokemon and Taekwon-do, but she wasn't ready to commit to Pokemon over art and fashion either.

"No Trespassing? How about... err... Yes Trespassing?" Wayne said as he found a decent wall. It was a little different to climbing rock walls out in the wild but the Dreamyard was run down; there were plenty of handholds.
It wasn't long before he managed climb on top of the wall, which was thick enough for him to stand on without losing his balance. Wayne looked about, quiet for a second as he surveyed the surroundings. It did look like some government science building. Only blown up. Wayne wished he knew how or why but he'd never even heard of his place until today. If it was on the news then it was either recent or before he was old enough to care about such things. The lack of proper security made him think the latter.
There were patches of tall grass that undoubtedly housed pokémon. Stairways that led to higher floors. He couldn't see them from here but there were even parts where the ground had caved in, leading to a basement area. If you ignored all the science equipment that hadn't been salvaged or stolen then it looked like a giant assault course.
"This place is awesome," Wayne said, turning over, kneeling down and holding out his arm for Salieri to grab. "Let's go, I wanna teach Petilil some new moves!"

As Pansage leaned forward to Bite onto Dali, it got a mouthful of Water Gun. It's eyes widened in shock as it reeled backwards, moving out of range of the first Fury Cutter attack in the process. The shiny pokemon spit the ater out onto the ground beside him.
[Gross! That was in your mouth-] Pansage started before getting slashed in the chest by Fury Cutter. Cilan grit his teeth. The counter had started again. Pretty soon, it would have enough power to end the match.
"It isn't over yet! Bullet Seed, Pansage!"
Pansage jumped up high, leaping away from Dali and spitting a volley of seeds down at the Oshawott on an angle in the process. Upon landing, it would leap forward with a somersault attack, aiming to slam it's tail down hard on Dali's head with another Acrobatics attack for a finisher.
****
Salieri climbed up the wall much like Wayne did, reaching up to grab his outstretched arm and reel herself up at the end of the quick ascension. Chen Zhen was about to follow when Liuye held out a bladed hand to stop him. [What's wrong, Liuye?]
The Pawniard silently pointed with his other hand at a hole in the fence directly next to the wall. More than big enough for the pokemon to walk under. [Oh, right,] Chen Zhen mumbled, embarrassed he didn't notice. Liuye led the way and Salem giggled, making Salieri's Pansage blush. What a cute laugh.
"These ruins look like they could mimic all kinds of terrain." She planted her hands firmly on her hips before cocking her head to look up at Wayne. "Perfect for a shooting range. Wanna do some target practice?"

"Target practice, huh?" Wayne went and grinned excitedly at the view. He could already see himself commanding Petilil to fire off leaf after leaf, scoring a perfect hit each time. "Alright. How about we make this interesting: let's make this a hide and seek battle. You pick a pokémon and chase me. We'll exchange attacks while we're running."
Wayne leapt off the wall, springing forward to jump as much distance as he could manage. He staggered as he landed and brought out Petilil, who materialised at his side. "No standing still! Just see if you can catch us when we're using the terrain to our advantage! C'mon, Petilil!"
The trainer sped off with a powerful burst of speed. After a second of hesitation, Petilil ran after him, scurrying across the ground far faster than her minute form would indicate.
Wayne hurried behind a broken wall and out of sight:
There was a staircase up against a wall. An empty room to the left of the stairs, its ceiling still intact. If you went up the stairs then there was a corridor leading left at the top of them; nothing to the right. There was only one wall to the corridor, on the left, and no ceiling. A lone door hung from its hinge down this wall and if you passed through it, you'd be in a room with no ceiling, slabs of rubble covering the floor. There was a hole in the floor, which led to the room below where daylight poured in, revealing a mound of rubble. On the far end of the upper room was another doorway, which was closed. You had to cross the room diagonally to get to it, each door being in a corner.
Wayne rushed up the stairs, darting left, his face beaming. He spied the open door and ran through it. He jumped onto the first bit of broken rubble, Petilil landing next to him.
"Alright, use Growth!" he commanded before diving forward yet again. Petilil's body began to glow a light green as her power built up. The sunlight was strong today, so her Chlorophyll ability had already activated and her speed was double.
Wayne landed between messes of concrete. There was still that hole in the floor to run around but he was aiming from them to sprint through the door at the far end of the room. As he ran, he checked back over his shoulder to see if Salieri was on his tail or not.

"Hehe, I like the sound of that!" Salieri pumped her fist into her open palm. "This should be fun!" She looked down at her pokemon from up on the wall. "Salem! Let's move!"
The Eevee cooed happily as Salieri jumped down to the ground, making a solid thud from the impact as she looked at Chen Zhen and Liuye. "You guys can go over there and start your sparring. I want to improve Salem's speed and accuracy for now."
Chen Zhen saluted his trainer's orders and marched over to a patch of grass on the outskirts of the main ruined facility, near one of the open pits on the ground leading to the basement. Liuye followed, and then Salieri sprinted off to catch Wayne.
She saw Wayne and Petilil run up the stairs: the Grass type was unassumingly fast. And Wayne wasn't a slouch in the speed department either. Chlorophyll, right? What an awesome ability.
She skidded to a stop as she looked at the outside wall. Now the Battle Girl was jogging in place for some quick thinking. She knew Wayne was on what was left of the second floor, and so she began to climb up the side of the building. Her climbing was similar to that of a Pansage: quick, efficient, and animalisitc. Salieri reached down to grab Salem's outstretched paw and hoist the Eevee onto the second floor, following right after.
Now there was no ceiling above them, with only a wall on the far side over the floor remaining. To the left of her was a door. Salieri kicked it open and saw Wayne running in her direction for the door she had just emerged from. She had managed to intercept him, and Salem popped out right behind her.
"Gotcha!" she yelled as she opened the door for a full surprise as she pointed at Petilil. Not missing a beat, Salem opened her mouth and fired an orb of solar energy form her mouth at the Grass type. The Hidden Power's strength was increased by the sunlight, just as Cholorphyll had been activated by it as well.
Salieri squinted her eyes, not expecting the attack to be so bright. She remebered how the move was basically ineffective on Darumi, a Fire type pokemon. It's stronger in the sunlight. I think the power of this Hidden Power might be Fire. Well, one way to find out.

Eunmi's eyes narrowed as she noticed Pansage and Cilan pick up the pace. They were taking them more seriously - did that mean she was doing well? Regardless, Dali didn't have enough endurance to take both hits. He could, however, do his best to block.
"Guard yourself, Water Gun defense," she said, thrusting her fist in front of her. The shell combined with the Water Gun managed to deflect most of the bullet seed attack, but because of the aerial attack, it was more difficult for Dali to angle his shell to make it any use offensively. Pansage's tail was mostly unavoidable in his position, and he took the attack head on - literally.
* * * * *
[Earlier, on Route 2...]
"Prrrrr," the wild Purrloin growled, with its back arched, just a yard or so in front of Eunmi, Dali, and Da Vinci.
"Another one?" Eunmi said, her voice strained with exasperation. "Come on, Da Vinci, can't you give Dali a rest and help?"
"Smeaaar," the Pokémon yawned. He stretched and began to stray away from her.
"You suck, Da Vinci," Eunmi shouted. The shout caused the Purrloin to react - its feline body lunged, claws sharp, at her small water Pokémon.
"Dali, watch out!" Eunmi shouted, but not quick enough. The Purrloin used Scratch and slashed the Oshawott across his stomach. His shell had been drawn and not in place to protect his soft belly. Dali cried in pain and staggered upright as the cat Pokémon began to growl again.
Beep.
"Huh?" Eunmi heard the beep from her pocket, and began to fumble with the retrieving the Pokédex. "s**t, Dali, Razor Shell or... Water... just go with Razor Shell."
She stared down at the screen as Dali lunged forward, slashing the Purrloin in the face with the water blade. A OHKO, or at least enough to scare the Pokémon into running away.
Torrent. Oshawott's natural ability - when health is low, water-based attacks become stronger.
"Phew... well, that's good to know," Eunmi said, clicking the Pokédex closed as another sound came from her wrist. She'd only had her Xtransciever for a day or so, but she'd already customized a ringtone for her mother.
"Hi, Mom. No, I'm on Route 2 still. No, I'm not lost."
* * * * *
Beep. The sound came from the device clutched in Eunmi's hand, an indicator that wasn't needed anymore. The teenager was well aware that Dali wasn't going to be able to stand much more of the battle, even if he'd only taken one or two really strong hits.
"Razor Shell," she said, the instant the Acrobatics attack crashed the Pansage's tail into Dali. He switched immediately from blocking, twisting around well enough to lash out at his opponent.

[Location: Outside Striaton City Gym]"of course, just cause i lack the understandings of pokemon speech doesn't mean i don't already know what my Partener's are saying or thinking, we have an unspoken bond that allows us to communicate each other's feelings" TK finished confidently as Iron Hide backed his words with his own. [It's true, most of the time I don't even need to hear TK's commands and am able to act accordingly] the small Iron Pokemon finished as he winced in pain due to his previous injuries. "Ah, Iron Hide" TK cried as he scooped up the injured pokemon "and anyways, about that battle, i would love too, anyone who understands pokemon as well as you do would make for an excellent battle!" TK finished as he turned and sprinted towards the Pokemon center. ------- [Location : Striaton City Pokemon Center]"Nurse Joy! Nurse Joy!" Takamaru yelled as he reached the counter of the Pokemon Center, "Nurse Joy, i need you to help my partner, he's badly injured" TK explained as an Audino took Iron Hide along with his Poke ball to the back, "Don't worry, well fix him right up. but by the looks of those wounds it could take a while. you look like you could use some fresh air, why don't you take a walk while your Partner rest's, ok" the kind nurse finished, though it sounded more like a command than a request. TK did as instructed and walked from the Pokemon center. from there he walked west ward towards the small park like area that housed a fountain. Once there he took out both Lancer's and Spike's pokeballs. Though upon doing so he noticed Lancer wasn't in there, where could the Karrablast have gone! "Lancer! Lancer, where are you!!" he yelled into the sky, several people around him looked at him strangely but he paid them no mind as he looked around frantically for the small bug type pokemon. after several more minutes of looking Takamaru let Spike from his ball, "Spike, you gotta help me look for Lancer!" Takamaru cried, still frantic. though the small mole pokemon remained calm, he reached up and gripped Takamaru's jacket in his claws and begin to drag him towards the dream yard, the direction Lancer was headed when spike had seen him.

Purrloin would make a small chuckle as the Litwick would disappear back into its pokeball then another pokemon was put in its place. She would take this chance to jump down from the building then quickly moved down from the window just not fast enough for her to avoid the thunderwave.
The Purrloin would wince lightly as she lands on the ground though not completely crippling her it did make certain muscles in her body tense up and cause her to stop moving. After then attack Purrloin would look up at Henrietta though not knowing the move "Mean Look" it still managed to give a look of anger before giving her a smirk that didn't show signs of any happy feelings. The purrloin would turn from her and start to make her way back into the city.
Although that encounter wasn't completely planned it was a interesting experience. She would move into the city a bit more stumbling a bit as her body occasionaly stops working.

A Razor Shell? At this rate, Torrent has probably activated. "Dodge the attack! Be prepared for a counter!" ordered Cilan.
The Acrobatics and Razor Shell attacks were exchanged, but all the rapid spinning on both pokemon's parts made it hard for Cilan to make out the details. But Pansage had managed to get in the hit, and had flipped off of Dali to land behind the otter. The monkey looked fine.
Pansage stood up straight, then turned to reface the Oshawott. "Now! Bullet-"
Cilan trailed off as Pansage fell to it's knees, and then to the floor. The Razor Shell's boosted power was enough to take it out, on top of all the accumulative damage done with Fury Cutter. Cilan reached up and grabbed his hair, looking exasperated.
"No! I'll never get tipped now!"
****
N watched as Takamaru ran off with Iron Hide. Did the trainer mean friendship? I suppose he's on the list N thought. Mentally, he tallied the current candidates up in his head in order of potential:
Henrietta Faya Avalite Takamaru Takashi Salieri Del Forrest Wayne Lee
"On to the next one," he mumbled as he sat back down on the bench and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small container with some pokemon food, and put it into his hand. Then he reached out to his side with the food in his palm.
The little pellets began to disappear one by one, each accompanied with a crunching and chewing sound as the invisible Zorua next to him gobbled them up.

Eunmi hesitated as the Pansage fell. She looked to Dali. The Oshawott looked exhausted, but he was still standing with his arm extended in the Razor Shell attack. Slowly, he withdrew his shell and placed it on his stomach. There was a fowap sound as it suctioned to his belly and he looked up at Eunmi. Her lips curled into a smile.
"We got... free lunch!" she said, throwing a fist in the air. Dali looked to Da Vinci. The Smeargle shook his head and crossed his arms over his chest, making the Oshawott smile. Even though he had just met the two, he really liked them - Eunmi especially. He was scared his trainer was going to be super harsh about battles and put a ton of pressure on him, but Eunmi was really fun.
"Your green monkey's okay, right?" Eunmi asked as she knelt down, arms open for Dali to hop into.

"Pansage will be fine," Cilan assured Eunmi while returning his pokemon. He dropped the pokeball down the chute it came from and walked out of his trainer box while retrieving something from his inner vest pocket.
"You've won much more than a free meal. For your victory over the Striaton Gym, I award you with the Trio Badge to prove your worth."
He extended his hand out with the shiny badge, which had the three colors representing the elemental types the triplets used.
****
If you just swing your arms wildly, you’ll be easily evaded. Power doesn’t just come from force. Turn the attack into articulate jabs for higher speed and strength output. It might be weak on it’s own, but the hitstun from multiple blows might be something we can use to string together longer combinations of attacks.
Chen Zhen kept Salieri’s instruction in mind while practicing his Fury Swipes attack. Instead of flailing his arms around wildly, he was thrusting both paws forward alternatively in a spearhand fashion. True to Salieri’s word, the attack was faster this way, and Chen Zhen had all the power without a lack of control. He continued to jab into the steel that was in front of him.
And this steel happened to be Liuye’s body. The Pawniard stood still, allowing his Pansage friend to practice the attack on him. It did little damage to his steel body, but it helped toughen up Chen Zhen’s hands to strike such a hard surface repeatedly. And it also helped to strengthen Liuye’s armor somewhat.
[I think I’m getting this right.] Liuye nodded to his friend, who retracted his handsand began to shake them off. He had been jabbing for a while now at the titanium body of the Pawniard. It was time for a quick break.
[So, what do you think of Salem? I think she’s super cute!] Chen Zhen confessed, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. Liuye grunted, crossing his arms on front of his chest as he sat on a tree stump. It looked like the rest of the tree was probably leveled off by whatever had destroyed the Dreamyard.
[I wanna get to know her more,] Chen Zhen blurted out, [But whenever I try to talk to her I get choked up. I just don’t know what to say,] he sighed. Their first meeting hadn’t gone well the day before when they were training with Cilan. He had no idea what Salem thought of him after that. They hadn’t talked to each other one on one since. It was starting to stress him out. Liuye breathed a heavy sigh, and shook his head. [Overreacting?!] the monkey responded in a high pitched shriek. Somebody else might have flinched, but Liuye’s Inner Focus kept him calm. [Lee, so what if I just met her? I really like her!]
Chen Zhen’s eyes widened and he covered his mouth. Oh no, I said that out loud! Liuye Dao cocked his head to the side and nodded, pointing to Chen Zhen with a bladed hand. Chen Zhen removed his hands from his mouth and smiled at his friend.
[You really think I’ve got a chance? Thanks Liuye. You give great advice.]
Liuye nodded and stood up straight again, bending his arms and knees into a fighting position. Chen Zhen grinned. [Another round? Okay, I’m game!] he told his sparring partner as he got into a crane stance, ready for action.

Eunmi held out cupped hands to catch the badge. She looked down at it in surprise, mostly because she didn't know anything about badges.
"T-thanks," she said anyway, because it was pretty. She stepped forward and quickly pecked him on the cheek.
"So how about that soup?" Eunmi looked down at Dali and smiled proudly. "You're getting dessert, too."
* * * * *
"That was soooo goood," Eunmi smiled, stretching her arms above her head as she exited the Gym. "You did a great job, Dali."
"Osha!" the pokemon smiled, licking its ice cream cone that Eunmi had ordered it. Da Vinci scowled in disappointment; he had not recieved such a treat.

The waiter blushed when he received the little kiss from Eunmi. As she left the arena to go eat, he was left by himself with a goofy smile plastered on his face while rubbing his cheek. "Wow, I wish I could get tipped all the time."
****
After Eunmi had left the gym, another green haired trainer was waiting for her outside. N snapped to attention, taking immediate notice that the Oshawott had ice cream while the Smeargle did not. Perhaps there was some favoritism going on? N could have been looking into it too deeply, but he had to consider all possibilities. The search for his candidates had to be thorough.
Regardless, N inferred a victory from overhearing what Eunmi said to Dali. It was enough for him to gather the confidence to go through with an analysis.
"Excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear you," he called out to her while standing up. "Did you happen to just defeat the Striaton Gym leader?"

"Gym Leader?" Eunmi asked, perplexed. She looked down at Dali and then to Da Vinci, who nodded his head.
"Y-yes, I did," Eunmi said with a smile. Even though Eunmi was often boisterous and a bit obnoxious, she was also very prone to underestimating herself. Enough not to boast about herself, but still proud enough to boast about someone else.
"It's all thanks to Dali, though," Eunmi said, gesturing to the Oshawott. "He's really quite natural at this whole battling thing. His water attacks are as elegant as a brushstroke." Her hand waved gently through the air, imitating a brush gliding along a canvas.
"Hah, sorry, I got carried away," Eunmi said sheepishly. She looked up at him, and finally noticed it was the guy Sal had pointed out before. He was much more attractive up close - his baseball cap hide his face when you were too far away. She felt herself blush, and quickly smiled to avoid it showing too much.
