Gryffindor Prefect Sparrow----Gryffindor ----3rdyear Gryffinclaw Quidditch Captain And Seeker
Sparrow quickly wrote down some of the stuff being said. She didn't want to miss anything and since most people had already said her guess she stayed quiet.

Lena
Lena happily walked to class, curious as to what creature today’s lesson would be about. She remembered Professor Kalle answering that they would no longer learn about doxies, and therefor tried to figure out what creature would now be discussed. She got her notebook and quill and patiently waited for the lesson to begin. When Professor Kalle began to speek, she turned her attention to the teacher. The sphinx? Brilliant! Lena said, smiling broadly. The sphinx was a creature she thought looked interesting and brilliant from what little information she knew, and couldn't wait to learn more about it! She listened attentively and was glad but also surprised when she saw one come out of the forest. She observed it and quickly began to write notes when Professor Kalle began informing them about sphinxes as she was unfamiliar with these brilliant creatures.

 Kalle nodded at each answer. 'Egypt is, in fact, correct Alex. Five points to Gryffindor! Sphinxes were first discovered in Egypt and they soon were found in various other places in the Mediterranean, including Greece. There are many stories surrounding the Sphinx, though most originated in Greece. For example, the story of the Sphinx and Oedipus. Is anyone familiar with that tale?' she asked, glancing about at the students. She wondered for a moment if the tale would be too far off-topic, but decided that due to the fact it included a sphinx, it could not be too irrelevant. { Thank you everyone, and yes I did have lots of fun, though I am glad to be back! }

Avona Glace walked out onto the field, hesitantly surveying the ground before her. The students were oggling the teacher for some reason which made no sense. Ava stood in the back of the mob, next to someone she hadn't recognized, someone she would never recognized. She didn't look at them, so it wasn't a matter that bothered her. The teacher was asking questions about some ancient... story. She hated animals, so there would be know way that she would know about something as trivial as that. Ava kicked at the ground, and rolled her bright blue eyes. The sixth year didn't exactly want to be in this class, but she figured she should just bite her tongue until she could get it changed. The professor probably wouldn't allow her get out of the class. The students seemed to be enjoying it, but she definitely was not. The Slytherin took a seat on the ground, ignoring the people around her. Screw this crap.

Sparrow wrote down a couple of notes and noticed a new student. A slytherin by the looks of it and she didn't look too pleased to be here. Sparrow reluctantly raised her hand as the Professor asked about the story. She said, "I have heard a little of it Professor. Isn't that the story of the Sphinx that let no one enter Thebes without answering a riddle right and err ate them if they got it wrong, but Oedipus was the first one to answer a riddle correctly?" She had read so many stories that she wouldn't be surprised if she had remembered the wrong one.

Ava's head looked up. She knew that story, actually. It was her favorite riddle, for no reason, which was why she knew the riddle that went with it. She continued to explain the one girls answer, who briefly answered the professors question. "The Sphinx asked Oedipus a riddle, which was 'What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs at night time.' The answer is man, by the way. Crawling, walking, and then wallking with a cane through out the aging process of a human. The Sphinx killed itself being completely astonished that he could have known the answer, professor." Her father used to tell her that story when she was a little kid, telling her that if she ever lied, he would eat her like the travelers were eaten. That was how she knew the story. He was a scary man...

Lena payed full attention to the discussion and took notes as it went on. She gazed at the wonderful Sphinx as she tried to think if she knew something about Oedipus, but she knew nothing about his story so she simply remained quiet and listened as the other students spoke.

Meiko jotted down important information as she listened about the discussion on the sphinx and the book she read two years ago about Oedipus.

'Both of you are correct, excellent job. Does anyone know any Egyptian stories of the Sphinx?' Kalle asked. She wanted to make the history lesson as interesting as possible, and hoped that by asking the students the questions she would teach them the most.

Pffft. Like any of these idiots would know any stories about an Egyptian sphinx. She laughed to herself, realizing that this school was filled with idiots like her father said. But, then, she also realized that she didn't know any other stories either. She rolled her eyes, leaning back on the ground. "It's pretty obvious that no one is answering you, Professor. I think we should move on." Ava laughed, and started to pull the grass out of the ground. Then, she threw a chunk of it at the young girl who tried to answer the question about Oedipus. Ava should have realized that the story was about Oedipus before the little pipsqueak did. It depressed her to think that someone like that girl could answer a question so briefly and so broadly.
Suddenly, she leaned back, studying the sky and the sun. But, she closed her eyes. It felt nice on her face, but she honestly wanted to go back inside. It was blazing hot out today. God, kill me now. Please? She peaked through her eyes, seeing that there was no way that a God could possibly kill her. She was just too funny, that God had to keep her around. She, again, went into a laughing fit. Ava loved her dark sense of humor sometimes.

Gryffindor Prefect Sparrow----Gryffindor ----3rdyear Gryffinclaw Quidditch Captain And Seeker
Sparrow was sitting thinking of the various stories she had read. She faintly recalled a story of Egyptian Sphinxes, but the darn slytherin randomly threw grass at her. Sparrow started taking it out of her hair and turned around to glare at the slytherin. She glared for a little longer before turning back to the Professor and raising her hand saying, "I heard a story of a prince Tutmouse falling asleep in the shade of a Sphinx. It is said that in his dream the sphinx talked to him and told him to clear away the sand because it was choking the sphinx. In reward the prince would become a King. The Prince did as requested and he became a King." She then looked back at the SLytherin happy to contradict what she had just said.

Ava, again, rolled her light, icy blue eyes at the girl. More annoying by the second. She laughed when the girl tried to glare at her, seeing at how unsuccessful it was. Ava then said "Like I said, professor. No one knows anything about the subject." Ava was completely ignoring the girls comment, just to see how annoyed she could make the girl. This was fun to her, although it may not have been fun to this girl. "Why don't we move on to something more... interesting about the Sphinx?" Nothing about the Sphinx was interesting to her, because she generally hated animals with a passion. Especially dragons. Ones that breathe fire. She looked at her hand, and bent her pinky. It's missing knuckle only happened a few years ago, and she was still having a hard time coping without it. She didn't realize how many things she needed it for.

Gryffindor Prefect Sparrow----Gryffindor ----3rdyear Gryffinclaw Quidditch Captain And Seeker
Sparrow didn't like this girl one bit. Why were the Slytherins becoming worse lately instead of better. Sparrow tried to ignore the fact that the girl was ignoring her comment. Sparrow tried to refrain from saying anything to the girl, but the next comment she just couldn't. It was the Professor's job to decide when to move on not some silly slytherin girls'. Sparrow said to her, "And what would you suggest. I find the Sphinx stories of the past very exciting and mystical." It wasn't a question it was a shut up and be quiet statement. The girl needed to learn some respect and Sparrow being a prefect hoped to knock some sense into the girl.

The girl was talking to her. The little pipsqueak, who was probably not even twelve yet, was talking to her. Idiot. Ava sat up, brushed her back off, and fixed her hair. "I suggest we learn how to kill a sphinx if it were ever to attack us. Or, how to at the least, defend ourselves from visicous creatures. Also, I suggest that you don't talk to me, saying as you are rather annoying, and I don't generally care for your voice or personality, pipsqueak." Ava gave a sarcastic smile to the girl, and then turned her attention back to the professor. It was pretty obvious how idiotic some of the students here were. She wished she was back at Beauxbatons. She missed it with a passion. The girls there were all smart, and not like the little pipsqueak.
