Best: Gonna have to give it to FE6. Normally desert chapters make me rage. But that's part of the fun, I think. This one didn't give me too much trouble. Thany and Miledy had fun escorting Chad around to get the treasure, Lilina got to hang back and deal with that pair of creepy warriors that shows up, and everyone else moved up to take care of the boss. Yes, it has its issues like taking care of Sophia and all of the manaketes and hey, Fog of War. It was really nerve-wracking at times because I was going into this chapter blind. But nothing can beat the satisfaction of completing the chapter with all the treasure, with Sophia still alive, and within the turn limit for the gaiden chapter. This chapter also spawned some interesting inner dialogue. "Okay, desert chapter. This is gonna suck. What? I have to protect Sophia? s**t. Wait, WHAT?! FoG?! Are you kidding me? Well, this is really gonna suck....HOLY s**t THAT IS A MANAKETE, WHAT IS IT DOING THERE."

Worst: FE8. Despite being an extremely easy game to begin with, I found this chapter far too easy as well, no matter which path I take. Meet up with the other sibling (who can take plenty care of themselves until I get there), take care of the lackeys, then kill Caellach, grab the treasure, and kick Valter's a**. There isn't that much desert to deal with, it's a small map, and it's just too simple.

Best: FE6
I think my reasons for best may be others' reasons for why it's worst, but eh... to me, harder is better. And no, that is not what she said.
This chapter is one of, if not the first chapter that I really had a hard time with in the game. There were so many surprises and challenges in it, the chapter was making me "fffff" near the entire time. Having to protect Sophia on a map with restricted movement where a second mobile boss pops in and tries to flank you, plus you're blind the whole time from fog? Holy crap, way to bring your A-game, FE6. Kudos. Plus, there's the extra stuff that others have mentioned.

Worst: FE9
I had a hard time deciding this one. I hated FE10's part 4 chapter for really only two reasons. One, it's so freaking big a map and two, which is the main reason, the ******** Black Knight comes in to steal my exp. BUT, I can get to him before he does too much damage. In FE7, I think it's much harder getting to Pent, who has such a larger movement than the black knight and is also close to the bosses. But still, using the right tactics can stop Pent from essentially soloing the chapter... I'm astounded by how many votes there are for FE8, since it's one of the more fun chapters there are. The FE4 one actually sounds really challenging to me, too. If I have to settle on one, I suppose I'll hesitantly go with FE9.
For the most part, this chapter just settled with me wrong... I don't really like the idea of beating a boss and not having it die, but once FE10 came along I got over that fast... But I also didn't really like the situation of the level, plotwise. We're killing innocent laguz, and this kind of just... gets forgotten. "Oh, sorry, we didn't know. No hard feelings?" "NAH IT'S COOL, WE'LL JOIN YOUR SIDE NAO" "KAY." :/ I wasn't feeling it. As a desert map, it's effective and enjoyable, and is one of our "laguz enemy" chapters, I just didn't like the way it was executed in the story and it still irks me.

Before I post the next topic I suggest you go looking at last week's results. I laughed when I counted the votes. Anyway.

This round is Best/Worst Holy/Legendary Weapon

Best: Ragnell. Range is a plus, but it's just plain awesome when coupled with Ike.

Worst: Falchion it is.

Best: HOL-FREAKING-SETY- more in FE4 as it's more available.

Worst: FE12/3!Falchion- you get it literally at the end of chapter before the final boss, and don't even get to use it on anything but the final boss. :/

Starlight is pretty bad too, only having 13 uses and being outclassed horribly by Excalibur.

Best: Just as it was stated above Holsety. +20 to speed and +10 to skill? ******** YEAH! Especially when it is on Sety. This tome breaks the game

Worst: Falchion. Yes it is effective against dragons, and doesn't break but...yeah there are better weapons

FE8's chapter shouldn't have been Worst. Moving on.

Best: Holsety. Holsety. Holsety.

Especially in FE4, where you have it for so long. I mean, hol(set)y s**t! If you do Levin/Tiltyu, Arthur can have Holsety FOR ALL OF THE SECOND GEN with his perfect availability in it. It's basically turning the rest of the game into Easy Mode, and Sety can basically destroy anything besides Julius with it. +20 Speed and +10 Skill is just so ******** insane. You're virtually untouchable AND an angel of death. It makes most other legendary weapons look like toys for children.

Balmunk would be a close second with it's equally amazing boosts and great user(s), but Holsety has permanent range and you have a greater amount of control over who gets it. I'd like to think Ragnell deserves a mention… but when you look at the Jugdral weapons, it just… doesn't. It's the best legendary weapon not from Judgral though, I'd say.

Worst: FE10 Rexbolt.

Aside from the fact that the 'Rex' SS spells are sort of generic, Rexbolt has a pretty terrible user. Ilyana is the only person who can use it, and she's a pain to use what with her terrible growth spread and need of resources and whatnot. And really, the only time you'll get any use out of it is a single chapter from the endgame that can be done in two turns without Ilyana anyway. Huge waste. It's better used being sold.

Best: Ragnell. 1-2 Range, unlimited, and it slaughters everything it touches.

Worst: Freakin' Latona staff (or anything like it). What good is three uses of full recovery when I can have Fortify or Physic do the job just fine?

Best: Holsety

I personally haven't played FE 4, but I can't argue with the capabilities of this weapon especially the + 20 speed and + 10 skill. I mean swordsmasters can survive a ranged ragnell attack by having more speed than Ike and really ragnell is probably the best, but compared to Holsety its lack the greater availability and sure fire awesomeness.

Worst:

Falchion

I didn't like Starlight that much at all as it was just some pretty attack that could damage Gharnef without any other real use...In that regard it seemed pointless and though rexbolt is also a weaker tome I wouldn't say that Ilyana is a terrible magic user. Surely she's not as great as Soren or Calill, but she's far superior when it comes to Bastian who comes at later levels, but we're not talking about how good a character is here. Thunder magic was also nerfed in FE 10 and no matter what rexbolt is still useful when it comes to dragons. Not "needing" Ilyana seems more like a matter of preference. Do we need Soren to complete that chapter or Haar? Well, not necessarily as those characters simply make the chapter a lot easier...That's why the game has so many options. Rexbolt also comes with availability and it can be blessed to have unlimited uses while giving a stat bonus. Anyway, I'd say that falchion is just the worst for it only being there just to kill the final boss like starlight is to Gharnef, but at least Starlight stays for a longer period of time. Also, at least you can sell rexbolt for money. Can't sell Falchion or Starlight for that matter.

Best: Because I haven't played FE 4, I have to say Ragnell.

Worst: Falchion.

This round is Best/Worst Red/Green Cavalier Unit. To clear this up now, they MUST be part of the Cain/Abel (Red/Green) archtype. We are also looking at them as a unit and not as a person. You are not picking the pair just one unit.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:07 pm

Best: Abel FE4. For one, awareness. He won't get hit by the critical hits that come from Horseslayers. He also won't have any extra skills come and hit him like astra, luna or sol. Then there's also the fact he has pursuit. When you promote him, he can actually turn into a decent unit. He's a good person to pair with anyone thanks to that awareness skill he has.

Worst: Sorry Noish, but this one goes to you. You have Critical and Charge, which are both nice skills to pass down. But you lack one thing: Pursuit. Sorry buddy but you aren't the best to use

Best Red Cavalier: Kieran. The guy's always been a part of my team because of his use of axes, which come in handy against Daein spear-wielders (who are a plenty.)

Worst Red Cavalier: Fe 11!Cain. As much as I hate to say it, I'm all about speed, and Abel far outclasses him in terms of that.

Best Green Cavalier: Fe 11!Abel. Unlike his partner, he gains the ability to double things early on, and ranks up his weapon rather easily because he's already hitting things twice.

Honorable Mention for best: Sain for his typically high growths in speed and strength, which I value highly and I enjoy when I see him OHKO things too. <3

Worst Green Cavalier: Kyle. He's far outclassed by Franz by the time he becomes a permanent part of your roster, and then Forde has more speed, which I tend to value for the ability to double enemies.

Best: Oscar

I haven't decided between his FE9 and FE10 incarnations, but whichever isn't the best is second best anyway. I'll figure out which I'm actually voting for after thinking upon it some more.

Anyway, there's one really obvious thing that makes Oscar the best Red/Green cavalier and we're all aware of what it is: Earth affinity. He can do full-Earth supports in FE9 and can support whoever he wants in FE10 to become an untouchable, and really, that's enough to put him above everyone else. Lance/Alan are both part of an amazing support triangle with Roy and are some of the best units in FE6, and Sain and Kent are both quite impressive as well, but really, Oscar's stats are good enough (it's not like they're super amazing or game breaking by themselves although they'er good) that with virtual invincibility, he comes out on top. Kieran also gets a mention, but his affinity leaves him out of the running by comparison.

To be honest, I'm surprised more people aren't voting for him.

Worst: Alva

Slightly worse growth distribution than Kein, I'd argue. They both have good growths, certainly, but really, they're just not worth using. Robert can be acceptable for being a bow-knight with a lot of unique points going for him, but Alva and Kein have no such luck. Lance users are a dime-a-dozen to begin in FE5 really, and FE5's green/red pair just came too late too low leveled with too little to offer in comparison to so many other units.

FE4's red/green pair is pretty forgettable, too. Yeah you can use them, but they're so tragically outclassed in this game, mounted or not, and NEITHER of them are the best candidate for any pairing (Alec/Fury gives Fee awareness, which has novelty value and Noish/Ira can be pretty potent as well though. But really, you're forcing yourself to use either of them if you do and Fury and Ira both have better options still). Jugdral was not generous to the red/green pair archetype.

Sue, I believe you only vote for one best and worse out of both red and green members.

Best: FE11!Abel- taking in the facts that:
A.) A vast majority of foes are mounted
B.) Forging exists in FE11, for all the Horseslayer forge haxx one can afford
C.) Joins right off the bat
D.) Out of him and Kain, he starts with a good lance rank
E.) One of two GOOD (Hardin, but he comes later) natural Socials in FE11.

Like I like Kain, okay? But in H5 mode, generic swords aren't really that good at all in light of Hammers, WIN Spear, RAPEier, and Horseslayer which can all be forged for amusing results.

Worst: Alva- I must agree here, Alva is bad. He is outclassed by Finn (who has his own personal lance) and Carrion. In addition to, lances aren't really a good weapon to begin with, as they're more rarer than sword and axe users because most lance users are mounted, therefore cannot be captured. And because 96% of your weapons in FE5 come from capturing...
