Another decent dish! Really, it was the raspberries than won Nanami over. Everything was better with a raspberry or two! She flashed Alanis a brief, albeit perplexed, smile, as she wondered where the girl's partner had disappeared to, and moved on.
When she reached Conor and John's table, Nanami couldn't help but pause for a moment to appreciate the glorious mess in front of her. It looked like charred bread, frosted, sprinkled, with... matches stuck into it? If this were a French dessert, then the French were crazy. She took one more long moment to admire it, and then took a tentative bite.

As surprised as she had been to see their "dessert" waiting for her, she was even more startled to find that it didn't taste as awful as she had been expecting. It wasn't impressive, or delicious by any means, but the sweetness and the strong burnt taste actually complimented each other pretty well. Who knew?
The Hipps were next. Nanami had to admire their commitment to a theme... Little did she know that it extended to their normal lives, too. From what she could tell it was turnips, again. With... sugar? She was actually curious to find out how they could pass a turnip off as a dessert, and so she took a bite.

Ah ha! That's what turnips needed! Sugar! Lots of brown sugar! It was kind of a bizarre taste, yes, but it wasn't bad. It may have been better if they put on more sugar, to help cover the turnip taste even more.
Nanami continued on to Freja and Celeste's table. They had done so well with their french toast, and french toast was kind of like dessert, right? It was sweet! And that's what counted in her mind. Maybe they'd do well this time? Alas, just one glance at their crepe destroyed her expectations. It really didn't look great, not at all...

However awful that crepe had looked, it was actually pretty okay. Not the best crepe Nanami had ever had... but a nice, decent try. How reassuring it was, to find that the french toast hadn't been a complete fluke.
Ugh, Kevin again. And his partner, who Nanami had managed to completely ignore during the entire competition. She had decided that being mad at him was a waste of her time and energy, and so she ignored him, as she took a bit from their cake. A boring, boring cake.

Damn, that was a good cake. It was so light and fluffy and chocolate-y~ And Nanami wasn't even a chocolate person! Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to forgive him? ...And maybe persuade him to make a cake like that again?
Next was another cake, a different kind of cake, that kind that looked like a log! It was made by the two girls, Benedetta and Emery, but she was so pleased by the cake before that she didn't even pay attention to the two. It was about the cake now! ...Or something.

Another great cake! Nanami was in cake heaven at the moment. What luck, hitting two good entries in a row~ Actually, most of the desserts at this point had been good. Maybe she had been wrong, about dessert being the more challenging thing to make?
Next were Hayden and his weird partner. They had made sweets -- again -- but this time it was appropriate. It looked like two cookies sandwiching a bunch of other sweet thing? Ugh, it almost gave her diabetes just looking at it. Still, she was glad that they didn't suddenly make... steak or something, just to be rebellious, and so she took a bite -- after preparing herself mentally, of course.

Ahh, it was okay. Too sweet for Nanami's tastes, but perhaps someone who had a bigger sweet tooth would find the intense sweetness good. It wasn't her thing, but.... Well, she was just relieved that they had followed the rules this time.
...Oh no. It was those two again. Catrina and Mei. She hadn't even tasted their last dish to know how terrible it was, and so she approached their station hesitantly. Thankfully, it didn't look like there was any sort of meat on their plate... Thank god. Still, she was confused. It looked like a plant, with... chocolate sauce? What the hell was that?

Ugh, what was that? The plant was bitter, and the chocolate didn't help it much. Nanami struggled not to grimace, and instead focused her energy on getting away from that table as soon as possible.
Raiden and Zelynity were next, and Nanami had to admit, she was becoming more and more impressed by their team. Their last dish had been better than she had expected, and their dessert, an eclair, was beautiful! Perfect, even! She would have to compliment Raiden for his work later on. ...At least, she assumed it was his work. It never occurred to her that it wouldn't be.

It looked perfect, and it tasted perfect, too! What a great way to end the competition. Maybe Raiden and Haruka could cook together? That would be great! Then she'd have two excellent cooks at her disposal~ She was so busy plotting future meals, that she almost forgot to move onto the next table.
She decided to go to Xeiro's station next, just in case his low scores before had been a result of him being last... Ahh, but she doubted it. Their dessert looked awful. She actually felt bad for him, since he owned a bakery, and this didn't look appetizing at all! How did he manage to stay in business? She tried her best to conceal her sympathy, as she took a bite.

Well, it didn't taste as bad as it looked, which was good, but it still wasn't great... Nothing to brag about at least. With a small sigh, she set down her utensil and moved on. She didn't want to think about it, it was too sad, the thought of a baker who couldn't bake. Maybe she should give him a discount the next time he came in, just to help the guy out?
And if anything could improve Nanami's downtrodden mood, it would be Haruka! The woman beamed as she approached her daughter's table, taking a look at her dish. Ah, flan! Flan was good! Flan wasn't sweet! Most of all, she was proud of her daughter for overcoming her aversion to eggs~ She was growing up!

It had been such a disaster the last time Haruka tried to make flan, and so this was a miraculous improvement since then. Nanami wanted to hug her and tell her how much she was proud of her~ But that would be inappropriate. Putting on a face of complete professionalism, she nodded solemnly and then moved on.
She had saved the monkey for last. It had been doing a better job than a number of the contestants, which was kind of sad, but maybe that could be attributed to the mayor's brother. Like this instance! They had made mont blanc. It was a disaster of a mont blanc, but she was sure that a monkey couldn't have done that. Made her feel a little better to be trying a dessert made by a monkey.

Ehh, it was unremarkable. The monkey may have had someone to help it out, but that didn't mean that it would do well each round. It was an adequate end to the competition. And so, Nanami returned to the judge's table, now that she was done, and took a seat. She was done judging, and now she just had to wait to see how Haruka ranked. She hoped that she would do well. In her mind, she had been the best competitor, by far. But maybe she was a little biased~ But just a little.

Gaston had immediately headed toward the Hipp couple as soon as he stood up - why not? The two hadn't disappointed him the last two rounds - in fact! They had exceeded his expectations in both, only getting better as the time went! How could he resist them this time? He came to their station and looked at the turnips they had up on display. ..Not.. really as good as before.. In fact, it was far below what he had expected from them.. But, he couldn't do anything for that. He was just there to try the food, right? Even if he would have preferred eating a pretty dish, a delicious one was just almost as good! So, he stuck his fork into one of the turnips and held it up to his lips to take an excited bite~( +1 for exceeding expectations last round!

..So, it wasn't really as delicious as he had expected. Gaston frowned as he lowered the fork back onto the plate, chewing up the last of his bite so he could swallow it if only because it was still good. Not exceptional, but still alright. He was just disappointed they hadn't done as well! Had they not tried as hard?! Well, considering all the work they did in the last two rounds, he wouldn't be surprised.. Still. He frowned at them and decided that next he should try someone else who had yet to fail him - Alanis LeBlanc! And Lucas.. who seemed to be sleeping again. He rolled his eyes at the lazy man, but waved it off as he went to look at the cute little treats she had set out. Nothing spectacular, but he was sure it would taste delicious! It had to, after all, it was Alanis~!( +1 for exceeding expectations last round!

..Yet again, he had to give it to Alanis for being an extraordinarily peculiar woman to figure out! She could do so wonderfully at one point, then suddenly drop down to an average skill at the flip of a coin! ..It must have been Lucas's fault, of course! The man not working with her had thrown off her abilities! Certainly, that was what had gone wrong the first round as well! Ah, it made sense. Still, he needed to save his taste buds somehow - like going to another of the brilliant chefs from the last round! Conor and John came next, with their.. bread.. and frosting? He wasn't sure what it was, but.. he gave it a try anyway. It wasn't like it could really kill him!( +1 for being blondes!
