There was a flash and he appeared to be in his room back at school. "What the?" His ball was on the desk and it glowed. "You have dissapointed me Lee." His mothers voice said. "Mom, but I thought I was taking the test... oh..." He pulled the real ball out of his pocket. "Nice try... but not gonna work." Another flash. Lee was now in the hall.

Lee dogde her blows. "Stop it Iris. I won't hurt you." He continued to dodge blows, He found an opening and took it. He was holding both her arms in one. "What is going on?" He asked.

The creature in the shadows didn't say anything. It wondered if the human would succeed in figuring out the truth of the illusion.

"First, I am here as a test so I can learn the ways of darkness. Second, I am no human. I am a Vampiric Demon-Angel." He said to the darkness.

The creature shrugged. "Well, your human enough." it laughed again. "Who sent you here? No Darkling would send you here, and no other creature besides a Darkling could send you here."

Up in a tree, Iris continued to read her book, this time hanging upside-down from a branch. Amy was with her, and she glared disapprovingly. "You're hiding your smiles again!" the little girl accused. Iris' eyes narrowed, but instead of speaking, she spoke to Amy telepathically as she always did. Amy's glare hardened. "I don't care if it's none of my business! You like Lee, don't you, and he likes you, I'm sure. Sooo, break your heart from its stone shell - " . . . "Well, I know, but..." . . . "If you just -" . . . "Look! You know as well as I that Siri gets stronger when you hide your smiles! Do you want Lee to become another Evan?!" Amy clapped her hand over her mouth. "Iris... I'm - I'm sorry!" The older woman fell from the tree, landing with a small thud. Her hands shook as she held the book. "You're right, Amy." she whispered. "Come on, we're going to the library..." "F-for what?" . . . "We're gonna go to the library? . . . To find Sangre and learn how you can rid yourself of Siri? Ok." With that, the two of them headed for the library.
