The Angel stood, hand still held out. Then he lowered it to give Hayate a considering look. "Where do you stand on hugs between friends?"

Hayate smiled and ran over to Nathan's side and hugged him. "I'm a monkey. I love hugs!"

Nathan grinned and hugged him back. "I'm glad you're a monkey: I love hugs too!"
Then he began to let go and move back, trying to keep the hug entirely 'friends'.

Nathan waved it away. "It's fine - but when the catcalls come our way, you better not run away, right?" He teased.

"I'll only back down if I see that man beast of yours," Hayate replied as he moved towards the door. "I'll see you later okay?" he called out as he left.

Nathan scowled. Man Beast?! If Hayate hadn't just left, he'd have to scold him for that - really, it was going to be difficult to play piggy-in-the-middle to Mao and Hayate!
"See you later - and be NICE!" The Angel called back, shaking his head with a small sigh as he waved.
Then he left the coffee shop to head for the hospital, popping his head around the door to the Head Nurse's Office.
"How are you today?" he asked those in the room, being his usual self.

"We're all doing just fine," one of them replied with a smile. "Are you here for the kids?"

Nathan nodded. "I'm also going to find out how Nurse Grumpy is - he's the only one not here, so I'll have to find him." He paused. "Unless someone knows and would like to save me time?"

The nurse sighed. "I think he's down eating lunch. If he's not there then he should be taking a nap in one of the rooms upstairs," she replied.

Nathan smiled and went to her, hugging gently. "Thank you - I would have been searching for hours if you hadn't told me!" Then he released her. "If you need to talk, then you know I'll listen, right?" he murmured, completely sincere.
((. . . what if the nurse tried to kiss him and Mao appears outside of the door?))

She blushed and looked back at her peers. They had been talking earlier about this exact thing since she had confessed that she was very much in love with Nathan. Of course she was still young and it was most likely just a crush, but she still took it very seriously. The others all nodded and she figured it was time for her to do something more than just sit by and play the nice girl. She suddenly stood and leaped into Nathan's arms and pressed a kiss to his lips.

Nathan blinked, confused and frozen for the moment. Then his hands came around to take hold of her arms, intending to set her away from him gently but firmly. However, since the touch was so careful it could appear he was holding her in return or about to caress her...

Just then, Mao found himself walking by the room. He glanced over for a second and saw what was going on. He stopped and literally punched a hole through the wall out of sheer anger. "This is a hospital, not a motel! If you wanna do that go get a room somewhere else! The head nurse happened to be right behind him she nodded and glared at the girl and Nathan. Mao continued to walk down the hall and she stayed behind. "I will not have this sort of vulgar behavior in my hospital," she told them.

Nathan blinked again, then continued his movement to push the girl away. He hadn't kissed her back, hadn't initiated anything - he'd hugged her as he normally did, a thank-you for helping him.
Now it was his fault that she'd kissed him?!
Nathan spoke to the head nurse, calm. "No. I do not want to go to a motel."
He turned to the girl and shook his head, expression gentle even as he spoke bluntly. "I hug friends, which is what I consider those in this room to be. I apologise if any of you think otherwise, but it was never my intention to mislead you in that way."
The Angel gave an odd little bow, then headed out of the room. He wanted to follow Mao - had since he'd registered the sound of plaster cracking - but he had to be calm, so he walked at a slow pace. He could see the Demon's back up ahead anyway.
