He grabbed onto his shoulders from behind, squeezing. "Nobody deserves pain like that, Q. I'm just trying to protect you." He released him with a grunt. "I don't want to see you hurt."

Bornes shoved Isiah away, taking another step forward, but turning around once more. "If you can name three things, Isiah. Three things I have done that were helpful, then I will go back into that box. Otherwise, I am going outside."
A part of him just wanted to see Isiah stumble of his words. Another part, a much smaller one, wanted to know if he really wasn't useless.

Isiah paused for a moment, brow furrowed inward. "You helped me see at night, one," he began. "You convinced me to leave the vault, two, in your own way," he hissed. "And three.. well you found all that food for Kaegan, even if you didn't bring all of it back like he wanted." He folded his arms, waiting to see how he would react.

Bornes snorted. "I found nothing. Kaegan's dog did. Try again." He crossed his arms over his chest.

"You helped me carry the duffel," he blurted. "So there." He grunted, digging his fingers into his forearms. He was not liking this little childish game he was forced to play. He just.. KNEW better. He knew MORE than Bornes did, about this, and he just wished that Bornes would accept that.

Bornes hmphed and turned toward the door. "Bye, Isiah." He knew it was childish, but he couldn't think of anything else. He walked outside into the bright white expanse. The light seeped through his glasses and his eyelids as they closed and he let out a grimace at the assault against his retinas.
He placed his hands on the ground and sat carefully, right outside the house, waiting for someone to notice him there. Maybe no one would. Best place to hide something was in plain sight, after all.

Isiah walked after him, poised and waiting. He folded his arms, brow furrowed upward in worry. He could hear the scurry of footprints grow nearer as people gave up searching the perimeter, first and foremost, four padded footprints as Jane appeared out of the woodwork. She barked twice, sitting down about ten feet away from Q. They may have been fast friends when venison was involved, but she kept her distance nonetheless.
Kaegan appeared seconds later, his clan in tow, sighing with quiet frustration. "Here all along.." He grumbled, with a little disbelief. "Where were you, dogboy?"

Bornes grumbled when it was the dog that had found him. Of course it was her. He reached a hand out to feel for the dog, but it was too far away, and he gave up right about the time Kaegan showed up.
The last thing Bornes wanted to do was say Isiah had his him. That would've gotten them both in trouble. "I don't know," he said softly. "I must've walked in my sleep. I don't even know where I'm at now." At least the the last part was true.
That was the thing about lying. It was always more convincing if it had a hint of truth to it.

Kaegan grunted. "You sure you didn't try to do something stupid like leave town?" Kaegan looked over to Isiah with an accusatory glance before turning back toward Q. Isiah's face was completely blank- he didn't give a thing away with his expression, for once, which was suspicious enough on it's own.
Kaegan frowned, waving his hand to have his pack disperse. "I'm watching you," he said quietly, under his breath. "Doubly so, now that I think you're trying to run, boy."
He walked away, Jane at his heels.
Isiah jogged out to him, breathing a huge sigh of relief. "Thank god that's over.."

Bornes stayed silent as Kaegan talked to him. Then he heard the other man walk away. Bornes gave out a sigh of relief almost at the same time as Isiah did.
"And you were saying they'd break my bones," he grumbled.
The hybrid stood up, reaching his left hand out and around to touch Isiah. Bornes his around his midsection, eventually found the man's arm, and grabbed it. "Let us go back, now, worry wort."

Isiah laughed, quietly and nervously, leading him back toward their home. "Feels good to be wrong for once," he said with a chuckle, gingerly ushering Q in through their doorway, setting him down on the cot before sitting down on the floor. "How are your eyes?"

Bornes walked with Isiah toward the home and the cot. His hands came down to feel the cot before carefully sitting on it, to make sure he didn't miss.
"You know what it feels like to stare at the sun?" he asked. "It feels like that. Even when my eyes are closed, I get this headache...." He shook his head a bit.
"But don't worry about it. Do you think Kaegan will have a 24-hour watch? Or do you think we shouldn't leave, still?"

"I don't know," he grumbled. "I don't know if he'd even really be watching. Kaegan isn't the type to follow through with that sort of threat. Too much energy wasted." He rubbed his temples. "What are the chances you could find that storm cellar again?"

Bornes thought for a moment. "It will be easy enough. But there are a lot of things there. We won't be able to carry it all. The people who owned it must've stocked up for a long winter or something."
He combed his fingers through his hair nervously. "I am so thirsty, though..." he grumbled to himself.

Isiah nodded, reaching underneath the cot to the water filled soup can, dragging it out from underneath to hand it to him. "There. I got it for you earlier but you slept right through it."
