"And if they don't like it," I said, kissing the top of Teddy's head, "I can always kill them." Before he could get too concerned, I added quickly, "Kidding! Just kidding!" Okay, so I was only half kidding. There were two things I couldn't stand in this world. One of those things was conservatives and/or republicans. The other was Superbad.
Okay, so there are more than two. I just don't feel like listing them.

"Oh man, don't even joke like that. I'll just talk to them and it'll work out, one way or another." Teddy said in reply to both Serrenedy and Markus. Serrenedy's suggestion sure had a certain appeal; he almost wished he knew how to just hypnotize his parents into going along with whatever he said. But he let the idea go; it had the same inherent flaw that hiding did. He would still be sneaking and lying to the people he cared about. "I guess I don't blame you if you don't think much of them; you've only heard the bad stuff. But they are my parents. They raised me and took care of me. Don't you remember what it was like to have parents?"

Teddy sighed and fell silent. He just couldn't think that way of his parents; they had been nothing but good to him. And in return, he was planning to dump news on them that would hurt and confuse them. He didn't feel nearly as righteous and justified as Serrenedy and Markus seemed to think he should. But he was convinced; he would have to talk to them. He was almost convinced he should just go home now as he was in no mood for hitting a club. But he was reluctant to leave; he'd spent most of his time with Markus moping and freaking out. He wanted to have some fun before he had to face the music.

"I don't know what you mean", Teddy admitted after thinking about Serrenedy's question silently for a moment. "But if this idea at least doesn't involve arsenic then I'm listening." How could he tell them and not tell them? It didn't make much sense to him. Of course, most of what Serrenedy said was kind of confusing for him. Everything was so mystical or magical; there was nothing mystical or magical about Teddy. He was just human.

"Pixie chick now owes me a favor scice I put up with her for over 24 hours-she has plenty of apperance altering books in that silly little spell book she has-she might find one that would allow you to deal with your parents and take the blame-while by the time you come back they arn't mad anymore

"I don't know. It sounds like a good idea. Maybe." Teddy replied slowly, thinking about the possibility. Part of him rejected the idea immediately; this just was his responsibility and asking someone else to do it seemed wrong. How could he even know what would be said to his parents by someone who didn't know them and probably didn't think much of them? But he really, really would like to not have to talk to his parents about this. Heck, he'd been tempted by the hypnosis idea and this one sounded better. "I don't know. I mean, it feels like something I should just do myself. Not that I want to. At all. But I think I should. Thanks for trying to help, but it's probably better all around if I just do what I'm supposed to do and get it over with. You'll get to help plenty after the fact if you really want; it'll be nice having friends I can really talk to." He smiled at Serrenedy. Well, maybe he couldn't talk to her much about parents given her not-so-nice opinion of her own... but he could still talk to her.

Anita turned around, a frown on her face as she heard her name being called. What now? Her face did soften a little bit as she saw who was calling her and what they wanted. "I'm nto so sure that's such a good idea... it's already been a long night for me... I have to work tomorrow... I have a headache..." she said, listing off excuses, hoping that at least one of them would get her off the hook. After argueing with Jean-Claude, she was no where near in the mood to dance, which was something she didn't really do anyways.

I watched the exchange between Teddy and Serrenedy with mild interest. Teddy was considering magic to tell his parents? Then they must be bad, if he was simply so scared of telling them. But Teddy was such a selfless person, I began to wonder if his fear of telling them wasn't fear of their reaction, but fear of hurting them. That would be so him.
"If you're so scared to do this," I said softly, "we could always just... be friends." As I said the words, I felt as if an icy knife had just cut me open for the world to see, the edges of the wound frosting over and chilling me to the core.

"I'm not going to try tricking them; that's the same as just not telling them. It's bad enough I've been lying to them to begin with. It's not going to be much better having them happy about it and knowing that's fake." Teddy kissed Markus' shoulder and smiles up at him. "If I thought that was an option, I'd have said so already. It's not. It's not as bad as it sounds, anyway. It's just hard because I already know they can't accept it. It's not like I think it'll come to blows or anything like that. It just won't be pleasant."

I tried to smile, but it wasn't quite sincere. Only my lips held the contentment.
"Are you sure?" I asked him. I hugged him tighter to me, showing him that, even though it was the last thing I wanted, I wanted to make things as easy for him as possible. I wanted him to be happy. And if not having to confront his parents with something like this would make things easier on him, make him happy, so be it.
