Mahi squinted, ignoring Caleb's descent into demented laughter.

"Teh, so bold with your man to back you up..." Taro said selfconsciously as he began waving what used to be an Uchiwa fan over his blushing face. He stopped a moment and stared harshly at the aged and tarnished accessory before tossing it at Mahi.
"What did you do to my fan, you flat-chested witch!?" He shouted, then notice what had once been his clothes was now tattered rags.
"What did you do to my stuff!? What is thank-giving? I don't want to thank you, you ruined me! And he's evil" he demanded as he broke down into confused sobbing. "You're KFC!" he added belatedly towards the sinister lunitic chuckling off to the side.

Mahi paused, her anger diminishing from confusion.
"...what?"
Lycoris came up.
"I'll try to reason with it, sister."
Lycoris walked slowly over to the tree where Taro was.
"Mister Tengu? Would you please tell me what''s wrong?"

She looked around.
"Please tell me why you are so frustrated," she cooed.

Lycoris shook her head slowly.
"She did nothing... I can understand that it was horrible of her to hurt your last tree, but she did it to free you, so you would survive. Whoever put you in that tree did those other horrible things to you. If it is a shock, I am very sorry."

"Please, try and understand that I'm trying to help you. How long ago were you sealed in that tree? Today is [insert year]."
Mahi scratched her head.
"Wait, did he just speak french?"

The frightened and confused tengu slowly began to rock back and fourth, his body still locked in the fetal position. "I want to go back to sleep... at least I can be happy in my dreams!" Suddenly the crow-man sprung to his feet, his fist raised towards the heavens. "What cruel fate have you unjustly dealt me, to suffer a hundred years in the embrace of bitter-sweet dreams, only to awaken at the mercy of merciless tree-haters... WHY!?WHY!?POR QUE!?'

Lycoris tried to calm him down again.
"Please, Mister Tengu. She only hurt the tree so she could save you. She put your life above that of a tree's, don't put her at fault for that. And what is the point off living if you'll go back to sleep? I suggest that you adapt to your new life. Who knows, you might end up enjoying it even more."
Mahi sighed.
"I'm going back inside to copy down more, this is painful to watch."
She did as she said.
