Lin reacheed out to take the orb. cradling it just so she could hold it without obscuring the light it was giving off. She had to admit this was very useful, and wondered if she could do the same. While she was no good with fire (as she learned the hard way and really had no interest in the element), this was something she would like.

"Thank you."

Adan grinned and made another one for himself again.

"I would show you how to make one," he said apologetically, "but Ara-kun made me promise not to teach you that language."

He looked over at Shiro and Ura. "Do you want one, too?" he asked them.

"Please," Shiro smiled, holding his hand out as well. "I can see well enough with the light of the three that you already have, but one for myself and Ura to share would be even better."

Ura nodded his agreement, though he was looking off down the cave that they were about to explore.

"And I promised not to learn that language," Lin replied back, "But Mommy can make lights, in a different way. Maybe I'll ask her, it is less dangerous than asking her to teach me how to make fire."

Though what she really wanted to learn was that neat trick she saw one of her Daddy's cousins do once, but no one would teach her that in fear she would land somewhere and crack something.

Adan handed the orb to Shiro, then quickly made another one.

"I think it would be good for you to learn how to make lights," he grinned at Lin. "They're helpful. Anyways, we better get going, or we're going to run out of time."

Aragost, completely invisible in the cave, even with the light of the four orbs, started forwards.

"Stay close," his deep voice resonated in the darkness, bouncing and echoing off the smooth stone walls. "I do not want anyone to get lost or left behind."

And he started down the passageway, only the light of his orb showing where he was.

Shiro made sure that he had Ura tightly by one hand, then started forward after the others quickly. He didn't want to be left behind - he wanted to see everything that he could.

Lin made sure she kept up, it would be unpleasant she thought to get lost down here. She kept her eye on Aragost, glancing around only when something caught her eye. However not more than for a moment or two.

Adan walked right next to Aragost, his young face set and determined - but excited, as well.

"Hey, Ara-kun," he said after a while, looking up at his mentor, "how far are we gonna go? All the way to the cavern?"

There was no sign of movement from the man who was almost entirely hidden in the darkness, but his low voice replied, "Yes ... to the cavern ... if that is what you would like."

His tone had reverted to its original sound - low, deep, raspy ... the only thing that was missing from the way he had once been when he had first joined the ranch, was the chill in the air, the one thing that he would not do around children.

Lin looked at Adan curiously it sounded like there was something interesting the cavern to see. Now the question was, she thought to herself did she want to spoil the surpirse and ask the question or not.

Shiro was just as curious as Lin, but he wasn't able to keep his curiosity in check.

"Cavern?" he repeated after Adanedhel. "What kind of cavern? Is it very big? Is there something special about it?"

He was fining that he was really enjoying this exploring thing, and he had already decided that he would love to do it again.

Adan grinned mischievously.

"You'll see when we get there," he giggled. "It's really neat, that's all I'll say."

They walked a bit further, then Aragost stopped, holding out one hand to stop the others as well.

"This is best seen in the dark," he murmured, slipping his orb into the folds of his robe, extinguishing it. "Ura ... is holding Shiro's hand ... Shiro ... take Lin's hand ... Lin ... take Adanedhel's hand with your other hand ... and Adan ... take mine ... all lights must be extinguished ... put it in a pocket or something and they will go out ... and I will lead you safely into the cavern ..."

A strange request perhaps, and perhaps a little nerve-wracking, to ask all of them to wander so blindly; but his tone was warm, reassuring, and full of confidence and promise: he would not lose any of them.

Lin placed herself beside Adan using her free hand to take a hold of Shiro's before putting her orb away so she could be free to take Adan's. She didn't want to get lost, but she also wanted to see what it was that needed all lights to be out.

Shiro didn't have a pocket or anything to put his orb in, so he slid it behind his back and folded it in his wings for safekeeping before taking firm hold of both Ura's and Lin's hands, making sure that they wouldn't be able to slip out of his grip.

He wanted to know what they were supposed to be seeing - or how they were supposed to be seeing it - but he was sure that any questions at this point would go unanswered.

Adan's orb was put away already before Aragost had finished speaking, and before the last orb was dimmed he already had a firm grip on both Lin's and Aragost's hands.

"Everybody ready?" he asked eagerly.

Lin felt Adan's hand against hers, and with Shiro behind her, she nodded.

"I think so," she replied.
