Kilik looked up and almost felt sorry for the flock of Spearow that were nearly singed into nothing. He called out for a Take Down, just so he could end the match. Hey, I won, he thought with a smile. However, he knew Mike had plenty of stronger Pokemon that could cream Lairon in an instant. The Sandstorm subsided and the train of a Pokemon burst into a run, crashing into Ampharos with his Take Down.

Kilik removed the coat from his mouth and stuffed it into his backpack. The crowd that had been watching began to disperse, talking amongst themselves. For the most part, he felt it was a good enough show. Recalling Lairon, Kilik walked over to Mike and held out his hand. "Good match. I realize I've got a lot more training to do, though." A playful smirk appeared on his lips.

"I think we should probably get cleaned up," he said, looking at his clothes. They were covered in dust and he felt even dirtier since it clung to his wet clothes like glue.

"Nah, it's fine," Keegan lied, attempting vainly to move his arm out of Kasiya's line of sight. Naturally, it started to ache with that now-familiar burning feeling, and he closed his eyes, fighting the pain. "It's just a scar now. No big deal." He opened one eye and glanced towards Kasiya, sighing as he saw that rueful look overcome her features. "Now, now," he said, scooting over a bit more so they were now side by side, "none of that. If you recall, I wanted to help you guys fight. It was my choice, and completely not your fault." If anything, the injury had probably brought them a little bit closer, although he wasn't going to say that out loud. He gave her a reassuring smile, knowing full well that she'd suffered a few more serious injuries than he had, but he wasn't going to say that, either. "It just happened," he said finally, after a moment or two of silence had settled between them. "Sometimes you can't do anything to change it, and you just move on." He leaned over and kissed her cheek, ready to wipe away any tears if they happened to fall. "Anyway, you've got a big day tomorrow, so you should get some sleep." He lied back down on his own makeshift bed, and pointed up at the table lamp. "You can shut that off when you're ready," he said, stifling a yawn and stretching again. "Good night, Kas. And try not to worry about me. I'm tougher than you think."

Moments after she had gotten Tora all cleaned up, the little elephant was already getting herself nice and dirty in the bushes, digging for who knows what. The Phanpy reminded her of some little kid who loved to make mud-pies right after her showers... M.A. smiled fondly, remembering the boyish phase she had went through. Even now she was still tomboyish, although somewhere along the way she'd learn how to clean and cook as well (thank goodness for that, her mother had said).

She was about to doze off under the midday heat when her little Tora turned up with a grimy object, offering it to her trainer. "Uh..." the brunette blinked, holding the chunk of dirt and shaking some of it off. It appeared to be a ball. With a handkerchief, she wiped all of the remaining dirt away. "Oh! You found a Great Ball," she said, with a little laugh. Turning around, she noticed a sizable hole in the ground. Who knows why it was buried.

"Hey thereeeee!" a youthful voice called out, and M.A. turned (dirt still all over her hands) to see a surfer chick jogging over to her. Beach and sun-kissed auburn hair, a freckled, smiling face, rash guard over a yellow bikini, shortboard under an arm, its foot piece dragging behind her on the ground. "Gee, if you don't have anything to do at the moment, would you mind battling me? I just found a couple of new ones out on the bay, and I'd love to see 'em in action!"

"Oh... Oh sure!" M.A. smiled, her lackadaisical mood fading away to this girl's enthusiasm.

"Name's Yumi, and your name is... (insert pause, and M.A.'s reply) M.A.? Oh, sweet! Okay, let's make this a quickie little... three on three? Sound good? Alright, sweet. Rule is, don't damage the street, we like keeping our home pretty, ok? Some trainers that come through here are so disrespectful! Oh, not saying it was you at all," Yumi added rapidly, "just that... y'know, right?"

"Haha yeah, of course," M.A. reassured with a bright grin. She liked this girl already. Well, then again, this was Mary-Anne we're talking about, and there's not many people she could afford to dislike anywho. "Sounds good to me!"

"Oh, great! Well anyways, I'll send out my first catch of the day! Let's go Corphish!"

"Alright 'Lani, this one is yours!"

Mike recalled his fainted Ampharos and let out a weak half-hearted chuckle. "You just can't catch a break can you?" The boy shook his head and clipped the ball to his strap, looking up at his victorious friend. Mike's previous churning emotions of frustration and anger quickly subsided at the sight of Kilik's happy smile. "Good show Kilik," said the boy with a congratulatory salute. "Next time you won't be so lucky." He added a playful wink and dashed off, he had a lot of thigns to do. "See you at the party!" he shouted back, almost forgetting it was only in two days.

Mike soon found himself standing upon the highest cliff face of Lilycove city out-looking the horizon. The sun was setting, providing for an absolutely breath-taking visual. He sighed. "If only Flannery were here right now." he mused, wondering what his girlfriend was actually up to. He really did miss her. Besides, just one kiss wasn't going to last him for much longer. "What the hell, I'll go home to visit." Mike smiled, turning around and reaching for Nitro's Pokeball. As he about faced, he noticed a quaint little flower shop amidst the much larger buildings. An old woman was slowly walking over and spinning the 'Open' sign to 'Closed'.

"Wait!" Mike called out, causing the old woman to jump. "Can I buy some flowers real quick before you close?" The boy said between heavy panting as he clasped his hands together in a pleading manner. The day's affairs were starting to really tire him out

"That depends," the woman started, eying the messy boy through the glass. "Is it true love?" her voice was softened by the closed door.

"The truest!" Mike replied instantly, nodding his head vigorously. "She's really special." He added. "My little, er, tall beauty."

"In that case, come on in." The old woman smiled happily, the wrinkles in her face making for a pleasant and welcoming expression. She opened the door slowly and made her way to the counter.

"Oh my goodness thank you! You are the best!" Mike practically jumped over the short old woman and hurried over to the display rack, gravitating towards the red flowers. As a male, he wasn't aware of any of their names, he just went with the ones that looked nice. The old woman only grinned as she watched the silly boy run back and forth in an indecisive manner. After a few minutes Mike came to the counter with around a dozen red flowers, similar to roses, but they flared out in the middle. "I'll take these please. They remind me of her hair." He chuckled and reached for his wallet. "How much?"

"For true love, I can't let them go for more than 20 dollars." The friendly woman smiled again. Trying to sound mockingly cold and buisness-like.

"You are too kind to someone like me." Mike said with another chuckle and handed her the cash. "Keep the change."

"Someone like you?" The old woman chuckled, waving her hand to dismiss the boy's remark. "Thank you young man." She typed a few numbers into the cash register and put the money in. "Care to walk an old woman to the door?" She smiled and held her arm out.

"With pleasure." The two locked arms and walked the grueling ten feet to the door. "It was nice meeting you ma'am." Mike said with a respectful and cheery tone. "My name is Mike Kyoka and these flowers are for the lovely Flannery Moore of Lavaridge."

"Oh, Flannery!" she said with a somewhat forced shock. Luckily, the boy was too proud and absorbed in the proclamation to catch it. "Well, it was very nice meeting you too Mike. You're such a well mannered boy. My name is Eleanor." replied the woman as she locked up the store. She turned to say her good bye, but something stopped her. Walking closer, Eleanor squinted her eyes, studying the boy's face. "You remind me...of my husband when he was younger." Her usually pleasant demeanor vanished for just a moment, but returned, if not weaker than before as she reached out to touch the boy's face. "It was two years last week when he was taken from me. I've been managing this store alone since then."

Mike felt his heart sink at Eleanor's sudden subject change. He felt almost responsible for her sudden sadness. "I'm so sorry." He said weakly. The thought of losing someone he cared about was almost too much to even think about for an instant. What if he lost Flannery? Would he be able to go on as strongly as Eleanor? Would be even be able to go on? He felt a sharp pain in his hand. He had tightened his grip on the flowers without even knowing it, a slow trickle of blood running down his hand from the thorns on the stem. The pain stirred him back into reality, particularly to the last thing that Eleanor had said. Wait. Two years ago?Mike's previous guilt was soon overcome by intense fear. No... No no no no! The boy began to breathe heavily, his heart picking up an erratic and thunderous beat. He tried to regain his composure. "If you don't mind me asking," he asked as he took in a deep breath and held it in, slowly exhaling. "How was he taken from you?" His eyes looked vainly hopeful. He knew what she was going to say.

"Are you okay Mike? Eleanor asked with concern. The boy nodded wordlessly and cleared his throat with more effort that seemed necessary. "It was that horrible incident with those awful Magma and Aqua people." Her face was rather calm, it was obvious she had thought about this a great deal. "Those monstrous, giant Pokemon..." she added quietly, looking up at Mike once again. "I'm sorry to trouble you with this. You shouldn't be worrying about an old bird like me. You're young, don't waste any time thinking about this awful stuff." With one last smile, Eleanor turned and walked away.

Mike watched as she walked away, his eyes never wandered or blinked until she turned the corner and disappeared. He silently took out a Pokeball and released Nitro, slowly climbing onto the Charizard's back. "Let's go home Nitro." He said weakly.

The Charizard looked back with a mix of confusion and concern as he felt his trainer slump onto him. He usually jumped on with an almost audible 'tally-ho!'. This wasn't like the Mike he knew. He wondered what was wrong as he opened his wings and took to the skies, heading back to Lavaridge. He hoped it was nothing serious.

Mike lifted the flowers to his chest as his Pokemon began the flight back. Tears began to roll down his face as he thought of Flannery's cheerful smile. He wondered if she would ever know what he had to go through for her; if she would ever truly understand how much he had suffered. "I don't deserve her, Nitro." He said almost silently, curling up on the Charizard's back. He thought of Eleanor and Lilycove City, of two years ago. I never want to go back there... Mike let out a pained exhale and closed his eyes, hoping that it would all just go away. "I don't deserve to be happy."

The flight back to Lavaridge felt shorter than usual, but that might have something to do with Mike having slept for the trip. It was night by the time the two reached home, somewhere around 9 or 10. Lavaridge was an old fashioned town, most of the residents following the 'early to bed, early to rise' procedure. As such, there were only a few houses with lights on, the rest of them were all closed up and shut off for the night.

Nitro began his descent, casually looking around as he spiraled downward. The Charizard noticed Keegan's room lamp was still on. Surprisingly, he could see two silhouettes in the window. He wondered who the other person was; Keegan wasn't known for his overly welcoming personality, even if that was kinda mean to think about. Figuring they were back to visit Flannery, Nitro touched down right by the Gym.

The sudden stop jarred Mike from his place, causing him to fall off Nitro's back. He hit the ground harshly, waking up with a bit of an expected surprise at the sudden switch from comfortable to ow. He tucked the newly bought flowers to his chest as he rolled across the ground. Upon inspection, only one was roughed up, but not too bad. Still in a sleepy daze, Mike walked up to the Gym door, knocking instinctively. After a few moments of no response, he realized it was way past closing time. The cold night air and the lack of sunlight might have been what tipped him off. He input the alarm code and opened the door. Only Flannery and his mom knew it, but Mike was more adept at gathering information than they knew. Plus, living with the person that developed the security system had its perks. As he pat himself on the back, the panel flashed unexpectedly. That's not supposed to happen. He thought to himself, ready to make a break for it if the alarm did happen to sound. The words "Not Bad, Mike" scrolled across the screen in a somewhat taunting manner as the doors opened before him. Dammit Mom. Did she install a fingerprint scanner on the buttons? His mom was so weird.

Mike walked inside the Gym, still very sleepy. He slowly climbed up to the chair reserved for the Gym Leader and sat down in it. Being taller than most, Flannery had ordered a rather large chair when she became Leader. It was so comfortable. Flowers in hand, the boy fell asleep almost instantly, curling up happily in Flannery's chair. Nitro took to snoozing at the foot of the chair, his flaming tail flicking occasionally in his sleep.

"Let's hit it off widda ... Bubblebeam!" Yumi commanded, the short girl pointing at Ulani almost comically. Her instant of hesitation had been due to the fact that, well, she hadn't exactly researched into her new Pokemon all that well yet. The Corphish was pretty good at surfing and they'd hit it off pretty quick, but besides that...

Fortunately, a Bubblebeam the Pokemon knew how to do. After a grand show of over-concentration, it let spew a ray of bubbles towards the Cotton Bird Pokemon.

Ulani squawked a bit on contact with the stream of bubbles, the force of it sending her backwards in the air, her little eyes tearing up. Ouch, Charlie, that really hurt! (Refer to youtube pleaseandthankyou~)

"Shake it off, and Astonish! Use that strength you've been workin' on," M.A. called out, watching with a smile as the little bird shuddered and shook as if scrubbing in the shower before totally disappearing and reappearing behind the Corphish. She slammed her beak into the fellow, a combination Astonish and Peck all in one -- since she caught him by surprise, the attack seemed to be even more effective.

Night was descending on Lilycove and Kilik was suddenly very tired. From training Lairon to battling against his best friend for the better part of the day, it would certainly take a lot out of any trainer. The boy went inside and handed over his entire party for check ups and healing. As for him, well, he decided a nice shower was in order. He looked down at his fingernails and nearly cringed at the sight of all the dirt and grime beneath them.

He entered the same shower from last night, though the one next to him was empty this time, and stripped down, balling up his clothes and tossing them over to the washing machine. He figured he could wear a clean pair of boxers then the Center-issued robe while the clothes cleaned over night. Kilik flipped on the water and nearly cried out when it was way too cold. A chill ran down his spine as he ran over to the tap and turned it to the left to make it just a tinge hotter. When it was finally the preferred temperature, he stood there in silence.

So the Beach Party is in one day, he thought, Which gives me enough time to train Elekid and Lairon, then to go and fly to Slateport to buy myself a bathing suit. He stared down at his hands then closed his eyes. The Beach Party was so close and he felt his heart race with anticipation. What exactly was Rowan going to show to them? Would he see any old friend there? Then there was the nagging in the back of his head: would Team Rocket show up? It was definitely an attraction that the Rockets would be very interested in. Should they show up, however, he knew that his entire group would be willing to not only take them on but run them out as well.

That, he'd also have to start working on his new trick. Being one with his Pokemon was really what Koga meant. Almost like a second sight, Kilik could feel and see everything his Pokemon felt and saw as long as he focused hard enough. Yet that focus took so much out of him that he nearly broke every time. Even Mike had noticed it. "Hm. Maybe I'll get used to it," he laughed to himself as he turned off the water, "Or I just won't use it. One of those."

He opened the shower door and stood in quite a marvelous pose as the steam billowed out behind him. He nabbed up a pair of clean boxers from his bag and took the robe from the hanger, pulling it on and tying the little belt around his waist. "Okay..." he sighed, turning on the washing machine and leaving the bathroom. "Let's get some well deserved shut-eye."

Kilik hopped over the back of the couch and stretched out on it. He was a little too tall so his feet dangled over the arm of the furniture. With a mighty yawn, he closed his eyes and fell asleep quite quickly.

"Synthesis Ivy!" Mitsu commanded as Ivy was consideribly weakened now. Green light swiftly covered the Grass Pokemon healing it's burnt foliage and giving him much need strength and energy. In a few moments he was as almost as good as new. "Perfect!" Mitsu complimented.

Kristy wasn't going to have this though. "Flamethrower!" she shouted. Blaziken inhaled deeply, his chest slightly puffing, before unleashing a huge torrent of orange and red flames that looked hungry and eager to burn the Ivysaur to a crisp.

"You know what to do! Protect!" Mitsu shouted again. A green barrier quickly engulfed Ivy protecting him from the harmful heat. "Let's take the offensive! Give him a Razor Leaf!" Several leaves shot forth aimed in several different directions in order to make the attack that much more difficult to evade.

However, Blaziken was on a roll and was easily dodging most of them. That is, he was, until a spasm of posison shocked his system causing him to flinch. The rest of the leaves bombarded him scoring a lovely critical hit.

Ryka assumed a thinking pose - her finger curling at her chin - and noted Jaeshan's statement. "Well.. you're probably right. I haven't.. actually seen any Gym battles myself." Ryka sheepishly admitted. "I just recall quite a few stories of boys sneaking in.. so I assumed. My mistake!" Ryka made another small bow of apology. "It will be nice to go back for a visit. She quietly added.

Jaeshan's sudden change in demanor made Ryka jump in surprise. "Alright! You'll definately get that badge. I just know it. And I'll be there to cheer you on, of course!" Ryka assured him with a smile. Being elegantly twirled around made Ryka feel almost like one of those ballerinas in a music box. Jaeshan made her giggle - often, even. She liked that about him.

"Maybe I could.. I don't really know much about Roxanne. Or this region, to be honest." Ryka looked down at her feet, but her eyes found their way back up to Jaeshan's face. "She has.. rock types, correct? I'm sure Thistle and Lilac could win that one." Ryka's face lit up. She realized that she forgot a very important subject in their greeting. Her hands automatically lowered down to the tips of her skirt - where her pokeballs were kept, of course. "Jaeshan, I'd like you to meet-"

He was gone. Out the door. Ryka laughed and dashed out after the eager boy. Was he even a boy anymore? Somewhere in between, Ryka accepted. "Hey wait up!" Ryka laughed at the pedestrians' surprised faces as she rushed by, her winidblown hair streaming out behind her.

Kasiya was quiet for quite some time after Keegan lied down, and she was inadvertently watching him until she realized just how creepy and stalker-like it was. She sighed, and closed her eyes. All my friends are tougher than they look, she thought. And that's partially what worries me. As much as she'd wanted to ignore Keegan's words from earlier, they still rung in her mind. Yes, she knew that in the past she'd done some pretty reckless (and stupid) things and in some cases she'd paid a price for it. But then again, if they weren't going to fight Team Rocket, who would? She gazed longingly at the bed, and gave a half-smile as she realized Helios had no intentions of sharing it, at least willingly. Leaning over she gently caressed the Vulpix's soft fur, not caring so much if she roused the fire fox from his sleep again. "It's nice to have you back," she told the Pokemon fondly. "He's missed you terribly."

Kasiya then clicked off the lamp, stretching and yawning, only now just noticing how tired she truly was. She made a move to lie down on the bed, but stopped herself, instead getting down on the floor next to Keegan. It took a bit of careful movements and bumping into various things like the night table and bed frame, but she finally managed to get comfortable on the makeshift bed next to the redhead. Content to rest her head on his chest, with her feet threatening to disappear under the bed, she found herself feeling quite safe and secure and sleep was quick to take her. For once, her dreams were untroubled, peaceful and happy.

Jaeshan was distantly aware of Ryka following along behind him, her musical laughter being carried on the breeze like a sweet summer song. Sure, many people were staring at him, but he found the majority to be sending smiles his way, as perhaps his incredibly amiable mood was contagious. Managing to turn and jog backwards, he caught a glimpse of the lovely girl running after him, her long, luscious blonde hair flowing out behind her like a golden, shimmery flag. His long legs ate up the distance between the Pokemon Center and the gym, and in no time at all he found himself at the doors. "Rustboro Gym," he mused aloud. "Sounds like a good time!" He waited for Ryka to catch up before pushing open the doors, more than certain a few challengers within the gym would want to test him or Ryka before they saw Roxanne. Jaeshan wasn't sure but he had an inkling that with Nidoking by his side, it wouldn't be very long before they were facing the leader herself.

As predicted, a young boy with a backwards-turned blue baseball cap came towards him, wearing cut-off jean shorts, looking like he may have been a little young for his position. "If you wish to challenge Roxanne, you must defeat me first," he announced, his voice coming out rather professional-sounding despite his approximate age. Jaeshan simply acknowledged the boy with a nod and took a Pokeball from his belt. The boy did the same, calling out a Geodude to his side. Jaeshan had honestly been expecting it, but he still said nothing and sent out Shelgon to face their opponent.

While most people had already tucked themselves safely into bed for the night, Flannery had found herself unable to sleep and instead gone out for a late walk. The fiery gym leader had no worries about wandering around at night, lest any would-be attackers be incinerated by her overly-protective Pokemon. She strolled along, one hand resting on her hip quite casually, her index finger hooked through a belt loop, the other held tight to an ice cream cone. Even at night it was still warm out, and it was a game of 'eat the ice cream before it dribbles down my arm and makes a mess' as she walked. In truth this night-time ice cream adventure she'd gone on was quite a frequent thing, as Flannery was one of those odd 'late to bed, early to rise' types who seemed to be able to function on fairly little sleep. Of course, there was Sundays, the glorious day on which she'd happily sleep until noon or beyond, but that was her self-appointed day off.

Flannery's pace was slowed considerably by the fact that she was losing the race against her melting ice cream cone, and finally she gave up and gave the end of it to her very eager Houndoom, whom she'd chosen to have accompany her on her walk that night. The Fire-type crunched nosily on the cone while Flannery subconsciously wandered towards her gym, more out of habit than anything else. She didn't worry about the gym at night, or any other time she wasn't there, as Karen's splendid security system ran out anyone who dared trespass.

The redhead haphazardly glanced towards the locked doors as she passed, but stopped, doing a double-take and backtracking a bit to stare at the keypad. The light on the device was a bright green, while it should have been an angry red. Flannery's eyes went comically wide and she snapped her fingers loudly, causing her Houndoom to snap to attention in turn. Cautiously the duo entered the gym, but right away became disarmed at the sight of a large Charizard snoozing on the floor at the foot of Flannery's leader chair. The gym leader gave a hushed sigh and shook her head, now seeing Mike sprawled out in her chair, dead to the world, but seemingly dreaming about something. A small smile played on her lips as she approached them with practiced caution, not making a sound as she came upon them. She saw a bouquet of lovely (although somewhat roughed up) red flowers, and upon seeing them knew why Mike had chosen them. She gently took them from his hand and carried them into her office where she filled a vase with water and arranged them neatly within it before carrying it back out to the main room. She let the vase of flowers sit nicely on the side table next to her chair, and she leaned over and gently kissed Mike on the cheek, careful not to wake him. His grungy appearance gave the impression that he'd had a long and grueling day, and she wanted him to rest up well. "Sleep well, Love," she whispered before quietly slipping out of the gym, her Houndoom on her heels. He's such an adorable goof, she thought fondly as she made her way home for the night.

Helios looked up at the blonde girl and yawned, but nuzzled against her fingers happily. He knew that his trainer really liked this girl, and the last time the Vulpix had seen the two together they had been yelling at each other. It was good to know they'd resolved their differences since then. The fire Pokemon then watched her curl up on the floor next to Keegan, and he twitched an ear at them, happy for both. Upon the realization he now truly had the bed to himself, however, Helios stretched out and was soon fast asleep, just like the other two.

It wasn't until sunlight started streaming through the open window that Keegan woke up, a little surprised to find that for once, the sun had woken up before he did. Blinking a bit to let his eyes adjust to the light, he looked around, immediately realizing that Kasiya was lying next to him. He smiled at her, wondering if she was the reason he'd slept so soundly the night before. "Definitely a sight I'd like to wake up to more often," he said quietly, slowing getting up as not to disturb her. He spotted Helios enjoying the entirety of the bed (although in truth it did make him look rather small in comparison) and grinned. Just like old times. He went about gathering up clean clothes and headed to the bathroom. He could smell coffee being brewed downstairs and he knew his parents were already up and going about their morning routines. He had a quick shower and changed into his clean clothes, then went downstairs to prepare breakfast, knowing full-well that if he didn't make something neither of his parents would eat anything all day. He sliced up some bacon and set it in the frying pan he'd set out, watching with contentment as it sizzled a bit before he decided to prepare some home fries, eggs and sausage as well. Cooking like this made him feel like a halfway-professional chef in a diner, and somewhere in the back of his mind he imagined waitresses calling out orders for him to fill. Soon the smell of cooking breakfast was wafting through the house, and Keegan silently wondered when Kasiya as going to wake up as he stirred the home fries in the pan, careful not to let them burn even the tiniest bit.

At the time, the Corphish was fuming at Ulani (who meanwhile was cheerfully twirling in the air), smoke practically coming out of its nostrils; he didn't like being roughed around, no siree.

M.A. watched the two for a moment, then accidentally said the following aloud: "It's so cute!" To Ulani's indignity, her trainer wasn't staring at her, but that little shrimp-fish-crab thing! Now she was a little irked, and M.A. saw that she'd have to do some damage control or else it'd be a while before the Swablu forgot her grudge. "As are you," she mouthed quickly as a side-note, and the little bird was instantly happy again.

"I KNOW right?" Yumi squealed, barely refraining herself from plucking the Corphish from the battle and giving it a hug. Said Corphish was extremely confused as to why the battle had stopped. "Was surfing this morning, and all of the sudden this one decides to join me! Quite a wave-rider, I must say, a natural talent for it--" The Corphish interrupted pleadingly by clapping its pincers together. "But it seems he likes to battle, too! So let's get it on again. Uh, Watergun!"

The Corphish looked blankly at her. He didn't know that attack. For someone who was such an expert at surfing, he'd think she'd be a bit better with the battling business. "Aw, shucks," Yumi sighed. She thought all Water-types knew that. Or something.

"Alright, Lani, break's over! Jump in there and uh..." Jeez, it really was cute in a weird way, foaming at its mouth and -- Ulani interrupted by clearing her throat. "Right," M.A. laughed. "Fury Attack!" The little blue bird blasted towards the Corphish with all the speed she could muster.

"Yeeeeesh! That doesn't look too pleasant! Corphish, mo-" But he didn't have time to! And he really didn't want to get hit by those sharp little claws and beak. Closing his eyes, he held a claw up, bracing himself for the impact -- but nothing came. Prying open his eyes, he saw the bird pecking furiously and vainly at a green shield before him.

"Oh, that's... um, that's called Protect! I didn't know you knew how to do that." The Corphish didn't, either. But cool beans, man, cool beans.

"Not bad kid, but do you have the strength to finish me? Mankey, Karate Chop! Meditite Confusion now!" Mankey was hopping around wildly, and he was runnin gout of steam. He could be seen panting as he came to a stop on the floor and dashed for Ariados with his glowing hand ready to strike. Meditite had taken to meditating calmly, but she had used many attacks already and they were stressful, especially the detects. The air around her started to distort as she sent a psychic field to try and take hold of Poliwag.

"I wasn't aware that were battling, I though we were putting on a show. Let's get serious then! Ariados, brace yourself! Poliwag fight back with Water Gun!" Poliwag did just that, shooting a jet of powerfully charged water at meditite. The water seemed to be pushing up against an invisible wall as it collided with the psychic field and started to glow as it hung in the air. Poliwag fought hard to keep the stream going up against the wall, his small blue body starting to slide back from the force. Meanwhile Mankey had come in close and slammed his hand into Ariados's thorax. Surprisingly she didn't appear to react to the attack, she just bounced a little as she was pushed down by the force, but her typing protected her from the real power behind Mankey's chop. "Alright Ariados, Night shade now, push Mankey into Meditite!" Quickly reacting after taking the attack, Ariados shot a black misty energy from her legs directly into the Mankeys chest, the point blank attack was to fast even for the speedy pokemon. Mankey went flying through the air towards Meditite, propelled by the knight shade that was eating away at him.

"What!? Meditite, Detect!" Meditite was dead locked in a power struggle with Poliwag, trying to keep his water gun at bay. But the oncoming threat was greater in her trainer's eyes, so she did her best to obey. She tried to concentrate on avoiding the attack by opening her psychic awareness, but she couldn't abandon the water gun battle either for she would get hit. Trying to do too much at once, she failed on both accounts. Mankey plowed right into her, the night shade that pushed him splashing onto her causing a stinging pain. But almost at the same time, she had left the Water Gun unchallenged and both pokemon were hit with a jet of water that carried them through the cave and into the dirt. Both trainers watched as the pokemon struggled to stand after taking that attack. Meditite managed to stand first, but fell from sheer exhaustion. Mankey didn't even manage that much as he lay dazed with his face in the dirt. "Mankey, Meditite return." Owen called his pokemon back and sat down on the cave floor.

"I gotta say, you had me on the ropes for a while. What was that move that your Meditite kept using?" Crenu called his pokemon back to their pokeballs and walked over to Owen, he remained standing however.

"That was detect. It's a move that is sure to dodge any attack, but it takes some real mental focus and it won't work if your use it to consecutively." Owen sighed, but started to grin as he looked over at Crenu. he was so big that even sitting, he was almost at eye level with him. "But you managed to beat it."

"Yeah, I noticed how tired your Meditite was getting. It was apparent how much concentration a move like that used, so I did my best to overload your pokemon. to be honest, if it weren't for the typing of the pokemon I may not have won so handily."

"Heh heh heh, I like you kid. You've got some real fight in ya, I can tell you want nothing more than to be powerful. Your a lot like me Crenu..." He looked at the blond haired boy for a moment and started laughing. Do me a favor kid, take this guy with you." As he said this, he took a pokeball from his bag and threw it to Crenu.

"Huh? Wait, what's this for?" Catching the ball, he stared at it with curiosity and doubt. Was he being given a pokemon by this guy? No one just gave away pokemon, there had to be a catch.

"This guy wants the same thing you do, a fighting pokemon with a blazing pasison for winning. He lost a fight recently against another fighter recently in these caves, he really took a beating and was damn near dead when the fight was over. I captured him to nurture him back to health, he's still a little weak but he leaves his pokeball all the time to train on his own, he has real potential for a powerhouse. I think you can really help each other out, your both on a journey for power and it seems only right that you be the one to help him get it. I've got my hands full with these guy, and you earned that guy with your victory. With your cunning and his strength, I'm sure you'll both find what you're really looking for."

"....T-thanks..." Crenu stared long and hard at the pokeball, not making a single move. The idea of taking a hand out like that didn't suit him, he didn't like charity and liked catchin gpokemon the old fashioned way. But p pokemon who was just like him? Crenu already had Larvitar, but a second powerhouse would be fantastic. It was then that it dawned on him that Owen hadn't told him what it was yet, and when he looked up he would only see a vague shadow walking into the dark cave depths ahead of him. Crenu sighed and sat on the cave floor, there was no way to give it back now. Throwing the pokeball out to see what his new pokemon was he watched as the white light took form.

"Mon Lee!"

The figure of a brown pokemon with no head and long limbs came into view as the light settled in the dark cave. The pokemon looked almost human, and Crenu realized that it wasn't headless really, but rather that it's head and body were one. It was basically a torso with eyes, almost eerie as it stared at Crenu and kicked the air wildly. Upon closer inspection, Crenu made out a large scar that cut across his left eye, not unlike the one that was above Crenu's right eye. He instinctively touched his still sore head and grinned, a pokemon like him indeed. "If I'm not mistaken, you're a Hitmonlee correct? Quite the rare pokemon... Owen tells me that you got hurt pretty bad, looks like he was right." At the mention of Owen's name, it was as if Hitmonlee had just realized that this was not the trainer he saw last. He appeared to size Crenu up, and seemed a tad disappointed. He turned his back and continued to kick the air. "Well I just beat Owen, so he gave you to me as a prize I guess. But I'm not so sure I want a weak pokemon on my team..." He grinned as he watched Hitmonlee turn suddenly to face him with his left leg raised and ready to prove himself. "Good, it seems I got your attention. You're mine now and I won't have weakness on my team. You will be trained by me and you will be trained hard, if you can't take it then I will toss you aside the first chance I get. Strength is all that matters, and I will only take you if you can give me absolute power in return. Got that?" Crenu's words seemed to strike Hitnomlee's points of interest, and he changed his attitude. He kicked the air wildly and jumped high into the air, coming down like an arrow and planting one of his feet into the solid rock floor of the cave. This was exactly what Crenu was hoping for, this was going to be fun. He called hitmonlee back into his pokeball and made his way to the exit of the cave. "Next stop is the Hoenn region I guess, there should already be trainers gathering for the festival just two days away."

"Come on now, Kilik!" Giovanni laughed into the air, "Is that really the best you can muster?" The man stood on a platform designed for his helicopter, staring down at the group of trainers on the ground. "Honestly, for a trainer, you're piss poor! The same goes for all of you!" his eyes turned to Mike. "Care to divulge a few secrets, boy? I'd certainly love to do it myself."

"Back off!" Kilik snapped, "You lost and it's time for you to hightail it out of here!" His fist clenched tightly. But just as he was about to make a move, a fireball whizzed past his head.

Kilik shot up on the couch, panting. Sweat trickled down his forehead. Could it have been from the fireball? No it wasn't real so why would he have a reaction to it? He scratched his nose and rubbed his eyes. The Pokemon Center was pitch black, save for the green numbers that seemed to float in the darkness. The time was 1:39 AM. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed heavily. "Giovanni?" he whispered, though he didn't really need to. Nobody else was in the Center. The boy sat up from the couch and fixed the robe. He stretched a bit. It was going to be awhile before he went back to sleep.

"We were in Slateport. I remember the beach pretty well," he walked down the hallway to the cafeteria and flipped on the light. He squinted and whined for a minute trying to let his eyes adjust. "But why was Giovanni there? And who shot that fireball? Was it Mike?" Kilik grabbed a sandwich out of the machine and took a big bite. "And mo imphofenree...." he gulped it down, "what secrets?" Oh what did he have to worry about? It was just a dream. He wasn't psychic. The boy finished off his midnight snack and tossed the wrapper in the trash. He made sure to turn the light off as he left the cafeteria, but his eyes took a little longer to adjust to the darkness so he could find that blasted couch.

He didn't find it - his toe did. "OW! SON OF A BImMMMMMPH!" he clenched his fist and held his foot off the ground for a minute or two before laying down. "Ow....ow ow ow..." he whimpered, closing his eyes. He managed to fall asleep again with a throbbing toe.
