iAkura-kun Well... Reality is only as we perceive it. A single fact may be influenced by so many different interpretations that what you see is no what I am seeing, so yes, perspective does have a lot to do with reality and what is a fact . Okay, that's fine. Makes sense. So, the sky is green, up is left, stop means go, 2+2=Fish, and the guy on the street corner is actually selling candy. Yeah, no, I'm going to go with fact =/= interpretation.

Hinote, You can't do that with reasoning. Reasoning is completely open ended.
Is it fact Human life matters? No, that's based solely around your morals and your reasoning.
Facts are constants, but other things can influence your reasoning. You've been rationally influenced, and I've been Irrationally influenced. ( Hope that one made sense to you. >.< )

I'm part of the Neutral Side Greg, but we need Tim to believe the dark side is the way. @ Hinote: Exactly as Tim said. Facts are constants, but our perspective to Facts/Reality change the way we perceive it. On earth the Sky isn't green, but somewhere else in the universe, due to the gases in the atmosphere, it may be green. If the ocean was once green, why can't the sky be green! And who knows, he may be selling candy...

I would like to request that you guys get back to whatever topic you were discussing before it got into.........this. This is too philosophical for a chatroom.
@Tim: It is not any color. It is neutral.
@Akura: Claiming to be on the neutral side does not grant you any more ownership of POTS.

Perception, does not change fact. That is, and has always been, fact. If you don't believe that, read a dictionary or something. All I'm going to say on the matter. I could say more of course, but I'm honestly tired of this whole thing.

A single fact may be influenced by so many different interpretations that what you see is no what I am seeing, so yes, perspective does have a lot to do with reality and what is a fact . This is a ridiculous statement. How we perceive reality does not change it. For thousands of years people thought that the sun revolved around the earth. Did our PERCEPTION make that true? Obviously not. This isnt getting anywhere though. Im tired of arguing. Im done. Your arguments are train wrecks of inconsistency and metaphysical non-realities. It hurts my brain to argue it with you, so I wont do it anymore.

I didn't say that Perception changed fact...
I said it affects Reasoning.
I'm so confused where you guys were getting that I said it changed fact from... sad EDIT: I'm just going to go to bed now... I've got state Quizbowl tomorrow and I don't think I should go as confused as I am now.

That part actually came entirely from Akura. Not sure why. Reasoning is entirely neutral, as compared to rationality and irrationality, which are at odds with each other, or fact and opinion.
The trick to rational reasoning though, is to look at an event from multiple angles. For a classic example, look at a car wreck at an intersection. The man standing on one side of the road says that car A hit car B. The man on the other side however, believes that car B hit car A. A man viewing from another angle though, might have an entirely different story. perhaps they see a pothole that threw the cars out of control. Another might say both were at fault and ran into each other.
In all of these instances, perception is useless, and obviously has not revealed fact. If you gathered them all together though, and looked at each until you found the right angle, or set of angles, you would find out what really happened.
Reasoning doesn't work if you only use it to prove that what you want to be true is true. To work properly, it has to be used to find what IS true, or you just end up making excuses, and as those are disproved, you have to make more and more, which make less sense each time, but you just keep trying, until you accept truth for what it is.
I mean, look at Evolution! The dang theory has been disproved a ton of times, yet they keep trying to force it to be true. Every time their final experiment that will finally prove it right fails they just go searching for another one.
Rationality, then, is being able to admit you're wrong when the facts are found.

I don't think that post went the direction it started in...

So, let's have a chat that doesn't induce rage, annoyance, or just general negative emotion.
Any ideas?

So, Suna's going to have a new female member, because I think it's too much of a sausage party right now.

I'd make an argument for Kye... but she's technically not a member of Suna nor is she 'feminine' by most definitions.

I was going to push the conversation into What movies has everyone seen recently, but a new female in Sunagakure is almost as good.
I kinda wonder what her reaction to Raphael will be. xD

Hinote Tosatsu I mean, look at Evolution! The dang theory has been disproved a ton of times, yet they keep trying to force it to be true. Every time their final experiment that will finally prove it right fails they just go searching for another one. I really want to, but I cant just let this one rest. I'm sure you dont want to get into this, but saying something has been disproven when it hasn't is wrong. I can think of several demonstrations of evolution, and considering it is the major theory of the development of life in the scientific community I wouldnt call it disproven. I would be glad to have discuss this more, but of course thats your decision. (In the Debate Forum of course) It's kinda weird to use a controversial subject as an example, it's better to use examples everyone will agree are correct and work from there. For instance, "If you stare at the sun for a long time you will go blind, no matter how much you believe otherwise". Honestly, being the only girl in a village full of assassins, thieves and spys might not be that great, and Suna stinks anyways. razz Shoulda gone for Kumo or Kiri.
