"We're paying in socks now? And not only in socks but to ferrets? Boy are we really trying to hit everything up at every avaliable opportunity." Though she supressed a sigh. Sevilin and Zahara, that was all that was on his mind lately. She understood it to a point but Malik easily stepped over points. "Been a good day then for you I guess." Though she let herself get pulled down and eventually plopped in his lap. He made a good chair sometimes too. "No, I didn't say that. I prefer pleasant, but not overly so. When you're overly so you're scheming and then we all go skipping off and get ourselves in trouble. Usually."

Zahara stayed with the horses for quite a while but soon she felt the need to be up and doing things, so she gently slipped out from beneath the Tempest, gave out one last round of sugar and pats and then headed back inside. She needed to study anyway, might as well actually attempt to learn some of these things since she wasn't positive when her first test was coming up. She glanced at Malik and Piper, laid a hand on the surface elf's shoulder and smiled, "Thank you Piper. It was really very thoughtful of you though you certainly didn't have to. I have plenty of potions that could have taken care of the pain in the blink of an eye. But it means a lot that you cared." A nod to Malik and she headed upstairs, flopping on her bed and opening that book to study once again.

"But that's the last of my scheming for those two. if what I just tried doesn't work..well..nature will have to take due course."
but he did get one aroudn aroudn erh waist adn the other supporting her back when she decided he was chair material.
"And we don't always get into trouble. not even usually. As I recall, it was you, not I, that got us into the most trouble."
A little smirk to her.
"And where did you send Serino off to? Nightmare is growing a bit restless. right now she's hunting for the foals...but she noticed his absence and reported to me about it. she's not happy. I think a bit concerned he won't be back."
Though he had to suppress the grin and near chuckle, adn just nod at Zahara and let her go back upstairs. Not only did she not know what she drank...but thought it was from piper. wonderful.

Piper was needless to say confused at Zahara though. And didn't even get a chance to ask Zahara what the hell she was talking about. That left one sources and tripile colored eyes narrowed and turned on Malik. "What did you do exactly?" Wait...if he did something bad...that meant Zahara would think it to be her fault! "But fine, it's me that causes the trouble, we'll say it's my fault for brining Zahara home and my parents here who in turn told you about Sevilin." He was meddling again. "And Serino is running errands for me. I need surface things and there's no surface things here. But she doesn't need to worry, he'll be back as soon as he's done. Maybe a day or two is all." Again narrowed eyes. "Now fess up, what did you do?"

"Nothing that will be pinpointed to you or the tea. a little charm is all. it's reffered to as the eyes of erollisi. it's supposed to induce attraction, or if there is one, a stronger attraction, in the person who supplies part of the recipe. I made two vials, one for SEvilin and one for Zahara. that's all. Nym, for teh price of a sock, got me a strand of hair from sevilin and Zahara. for the other sock, Nym kept Sevilin here and occupied till it was ready. I gave seviling the vial with zahara's hair used in it. and Zahara the other."
A grin.
"It's tasteless, odorless, and has no big 'you've drank a potion' effects. so nothing to worry about. the only one who might actually notice anything is sevilin, and he'll blame me as I gave him his glass."

She stared at him. Stared at him with triple colored eyes, the gold in them giving a spark but not in it's usual manner. As Kieran had said, the gold in a moon elf's eyes could tell quite the number of things. "You. Did. What?" Piper could scream...scream and yell and carry on till the sun came out in the Underdark. But...she took a breath, held it for a few seconds...then just dropped her face into her palm. Breath, don't yell...he'll just be amused and off handish anyway. "Can't leave things alone, can you?" She wasn't happy...but she was keeping that to herself, or at least trying to. Piper couldn't believe he was grinning. And she merely shook her head about it all, face still in her palm.

"Just think of it as a really good targetable amphrodisiac. that's all. and like I said..it doesn't work, I won't try anything else. promise. And I know you don't like me meddling but I can't help it. not to mention..Jiscal is doing everything he can to close down the slave trades in Deepwater and Honoursfield. the drow cities still make enough money..but it's still going to put a cramp on the money flow. and as of yet, I don't know for sure how bad Sevilin is going to price gouge me for this. So I still want to bind him to this house if I can."

Okay she was going to be a surface elf about this all. Which meant she wasn't going to be happy or accepting about it. Not to mention his back up motives were starting to get downright obsessive. "Is money obviously that important Malik? I mean I know you like your plushie lifestyle and all....but you're playing with people's emotions Malik!" Piper got herself out of his lap and took to pacing a length of the room. "You can't just do that Malik! And you can't just have the hopes that hey have a child! It's not fair to that child at all, being labeled nothing more than just an obligation to tie someone down!" Did she know her voice was a bit raised, probably not. Sure, some people may of thought she had a drow complex but this was one on those times where she proved she wasn't really.

Malik watched her rant and rave. Sometimes her surface elf self did show through loudly, and this was one of those times. Malik took it in stride.
"You maybe right, in your terms. children are born down here for exactly that purpose all the time. And trust me, this is alot nicer than most drow. If it had been my father, he woudl have used an enchanter to bind thier minds to do the deed until they bore a child. I don't expect you to like it, or condone it. If this doesn't bear fruit, then I'll let the matter lie. and money for our lifestyle is not my concern, Piper. it's being able to pay Sevilin, and keep that pay high enough so that his services aren't bought by say, Tarathiel and turned on us. And being the only rune mage we have access to means he can virtually make his own price."
His voice was calm. This was just a way of life down here.
"two thirds of my income form teh slave trade is starting to dry up. another reason why Broog is making jewelry to sell to the human vendors. while our lifestyle is more than afforded by just teh drow sales, extra's like Sevilin, or anything else we might find interest in, is going to be taking a big cutback if Jiscal closes down all teh market opportunties in the other cities. Is it right? perhaps not. is it playing with other peoples emotions? hardly. it's the same as giving a really strong amphrodisiac. they might feel things but that does not mean they will act on them. the same why a shy person woudl probably not approach a person they have a crush on openly."

She really hated having these kinds of fights with him. Well they weren't so much fights as they were a diffrence in opinion really. "Do we honestly need him..." It was more of a statement and rhetorical, her just venting because she knew they did. What with things going down the drain all the time it seemed. Wars, oracles missing, overbearing drow...they needed all the allies they could get. It just frustrated her so badly sometimes. Eventually though she plopped down in a chair, arms crossed on the table and head on her arms. After all...why argue a point that was pointless in the eyes of the Underdark....it was one of times where she needed to shut down her feelings on matters wasn't it? She knew what the deal was, though Malik would probably feel that slight shift across thier connections as she pushed down the morals and ideals that wanted to protest against what was happeing. This was her life, and this was how it had to be. She may not always like it but she'd have to deal until it was better. "I understand...I won't say anymore on it." Sure her voice was a little stoic about it, but hey, she didn't like to give in.

"You know I value your opinion and I do listen to you. I chose the most unintrusive measures for that reason. I do have the ability to force them to couple. all it woudl take is one spell from one enchanter. Not that the ones I have know the spell, but I could make it available to them. anything beyond what I just did is meddling with thier emotions and minds, and I'm not going that far. I'm not surface raised. I know that the ideologies are different on what is right and wrong. and I have tried to tailor my methods and lifestyle to incorporate that. But Sevilin is a drow, through and through and is not going to accept a surface arguement on anything. so to get him boudn to this house si going to require either getting him to swear fealty directly, which is highly unlikely, or bind him through a child. Zahara is loyal to you. wether she would openly admit it or not, she wants to be, and is, part of this house."
That stung a bit to say. actually admiting he held her in some kind of esteem at all.
"I don't want you to twiust your insides to try and become a plae skinned drow. if I wanted a drow, I coudl have stayed in Neriak or bought one. I have you, Piper. and I want you to be you. I want Piper the Fier'dal, not Piper the Pale Tier'dal."

She had to admit, it did please her to know that he did have limits. He often had to tell her he did because she turned a blind eye to his schemings, but he still had them. And she would admit also that he did try to level things between them, it was hard at times when they both tried to cater to each other. But making things go more her way just wasn't the easiest in the Underdark. Sometimes the place was damnable...she just hadn't quite learned to roll with the punches yet...but she was still young and had that streak of utter defiance in her, it would die down in time. "It'd just be easier if I was though, wouldn't it?" But that was her only little fact for the night before she sighed and propped her elbows in the table, supporting her chin in her hands. "It's just...been harder lately for me I think. I mean...we weren't around other drow like this, certinally not living with any. It was just us mainly. Call it trying to fit in when I feel like the outsider that I look like." Though she sighed lightly on it...oh how she hated it when it was like this. "I can handle it." Ah yes, the reassuring things that usually set things better in her mind. After all she had to look at things. She wasn't just some surface elf no. She was a dual blooded elf emploring twice the dangers of each subrace she was kin to. That in itself could be enough to put her back on level.

"Is it any easier for Zahara to get along with me or Sevilin?"
a slight grin at that.
"It's harder because this isn't Norrath. or the plane we met on. Norrath is in a balance, mostly. all the scheming is done among the noble houses, and the guilds. adn there were no open drow in aurahkah's plan, save that one."
A small sigh.
"This place has far more drow, and added races that are not normally here. thus, far more schemes, betrayals, wars, and the like. It's not easy on me, and I know it's not on you. And I'll try to keep my personal scheming down to a minimum."
A small smile.
"Will that be acceptable for now, to soothe your angers and your frustrations?"

"You're still all Underdark when it comes down to it." They may not all exactly be drow, but still they were the the dark elves. But she merely listened to him talk, eyes going to look at no place in particular as his words worked their way into her ears and registered in her mind. But her eyes came back to watch him. "It's just stressing to worry about what trouble you might get yourself into with your own scheming and then watching of for the rest of the Underdark too." Piper sighed and then offered him a slight smile. "Yes...I guess I can take that with clear conscience." And if not well she'd just have to buck up and deal. "Sorry." Of coruse said after any disagreement they had that she deemed her fault, and for being a surface elf about it.

"Nothing to apologize for. You provide me with a concience when otherwise I wouldn't have one."
A smile for her, and he got up, walking around her and massaging her shoulders.
"You don't have to apologize for being who you are, and what you are. If anyone should apologize for that, it should be me, when you do something like slap the assassin guild's leader across the face."
